You can't go wrong with this beloved Christmas classic. I had thought I wouldn't really like it before I read it. Now that I have, I realize how entertaining it is. Book was well received and makes you think to not take things for granted.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

I like the watercolor illustrations. I don't know that I would ever purchase this book for my child as I don't believe she would have ever sat still long enough to read it. I wish there were more illustrations in the book, which would reduce the amount of text per page making it less cumbersome for young readers.

I can see why this book is a classic. Great read and fast pace. Loved the characters and plot. Everyone should read this in Christmas. Plus I love the illustrations that Zwerger Lisbeth did were so beautiful and brought the story to life.

I really enjoyed this! It's the classic A Christmas Carol novel with beautiful watercolor illustrations throughout. I think it's always a great idea to release new editions of classic works to inspire new readers to pick them up, but this wasn't my all-time favorite. I think the illustrations were beautiful, but it also felt a bit basic. Maybe I'm tainted from seeing too many absolutely stunning editions of this book! So it's definitely probably a me thing and less about the book itself. Still, I think it's worth picking up!

Thank you to NetGalley and NorthSouth Books for an advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A Christmas Carol is always a great story. These illustrations weren't my favorite- they were more old fashioned than I prefer. However, for illustrations will he great for someone who enjoys that style.

A beautifully illustrated classic aimed at younger readers. The vivid watercolor style lends itself well to the ghostly story and adds an optimistic note to the story that can also be perceived as very grim.
The art is displayed throughout the book either in the form of small illustrations or bigger pieces covering the entire page reminiscent of the color plates.
The work of Dickens is often depicted in various forms of visual mediums, creating it's own distinctive style. The art created for this volume by Lisbeth Zwerger falls well within that fictional landscape while still having it's own spin and remaining original.
If you're looking for an illustrated version of A Christmas Carol for a reader of any age, look no further. This is it.

With so many retellings and adaptations of A Christmas Carol it will be good for kids to get back to the original text. The illustrations help bring the story to life and should help to keep readers engaged.

A Christmas Carol is, I think, one of Charles Dickens’ most popular stories. So many know the main aspects of the tale but, I imagine there are those who either have never read the original or who have not read it for many years. Now would be a good time to change that!

This version of the story is enhanced by its’ absolutely gorgeous and appealing illustrations. They are detailed and have a softness to them that I found that I very much appreciated. The illustrator’s artistry clearly adds to the reader’s experience as the pages turn.

Rereading A Christmas Carol has led me to remember that it would make a great Christmas season read aloud with a child. True, some of the vocabulary may need to be explained but there is something to be said for introducing a child to such a well-known and loved story.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title. All opinions are my own

When I was in group 6/7, I was allowed to participate in the Christmas musical Scrooge. This was my first encounter with Dickens' Christmas Story (A Christmas Carol). So I was very curious what reading this classic would be like 15 years later. I really enjoyed reading the story. It really came to life every now and then, especially with the beautiful but also spooky illustrations by Sophie Pluim. Occasionally, I would read a word and think of one of the songs from the musical or hear the dialogue in the voices of my 7th-grade classmates. It made for a special, personal reading experience that made me smile every now and then and sometimes a friend sent a voice message in which the songs I suddenly remembered sang.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC.

The review is for the illustrations as “A Christmas carol” is a classic. The watercolours throughout the story were good. I especially liked the scene with the ghost of past and I would love to get a physical copy.

Rather than yet another edited or rewritten version of the Dickens original, we get the real thing in this edition, so you'll have to judge whether the intended young reader of modern times would enjoy that. I quite liked the illustrations, but the watercolour-and-ink work didn't seem spectacularly novel – indeed they seemed to lack anything fresh or beautiful that would make this stand out. Still, it's been in constantly evolving iterations since the late 1980s, so what do I know?
