Known as traitor to some, savior to others, Rune walks a lonely road until a human woman  comes looking to him for help in saving her adopted dragon parents. Suddenly his dragon perks up and takes an interest this woman who was fated to be a dragon's mate but lost her mate as a child. Is she his reward for all the hard years that Rune has endured?
Haydyn has heard the bad press about Rune and is puzzled when her adoptive father urges her to go to him for help. If she had anyone else she could have gone to for help she might have avoided Rune and if Rune had not gone back to his abandoned cave in the mountain he would have missed her.  Coincidences? or fate's way of ensuring the two met and had a future.
Hadyn and Rune are not safe and soon hostile dragons are hunting them even as they attempt to make their way across South America to Rune's allies so they can execute a rescue of Hadyn's parents.  While on this trek, their sexual chemistry is off the charts and they both do their best to resist. Even with his dragon's urging Rune is not going to try to mate with Hadyn and cause her to burn up.
I enjoyed the fast moving action, the sexual thread running through the story and a visit with all the characters in the series. Like most paranormal series some things seem implausible but since it's a parallel universe written out of the writer's imagination I just take it in my stride and don't let it distract me from the main story line.
All in all a great addition to the series. I believe it was in another book where I read why Rune left his clan and became an exile to help right the wrongs that were happening amongst the dragons.  This books fills in those details, so all is good.
I really do enjoy the dragon series from the author and hope to continue to see more dragons and their stories.

Really enjoyed this story. Rune's story has been long awaited in this enforcer series. Great background to understand how Rune became rogue and why. This series and the kings series are great reads, in parallel but an interesting adventure. I'm giving 4.5 out of 5 stars only because some suggestive content in the beginning was not my style and I felt detracted from the story development.

Hayden and Rune's story is a shifter and fated mate's story, full of steam and romance. The plot was very good, the world-building is amazing but I truly loved the character development and that the dragons were amazing in this story, as always Abigail Own had us reading a new adventure that hooks you from the start. I really liked that the setting was in Argentina.

Hadyn Reece has had a rough life and being raised as a human in the world of dragons adds to that layer. Fortunately she's been kept hidden from the prying eyes of the Alliance, safe from being snatched into their fated mate program. Except, her adopted parents are rogues, always on the run, seeking hiding places, and constantly looking over their shoulders. Then, they are found out, targeted, and taken, but only after securely hiding Hadyn and removing all traces of her existence.

Rune Abaddon is Hadyn's father's go-to in case he and her mother ever get captured. Reece is expected to follow the contingency plans they've had in place since taking in their deceased son's fated mate. Dragonless, Hadyn knows in order to save them, she must go to the one place she hopes to find Rune. And beg him for his help.

Hadyn and Rune are spectacular. I loved both of them as soon as I met them. They are both strong, take charge characters. Separately they were fantastic, together they are amazing. I love their dynamics, chemistry, and underlying issues that prevented their union from happening too fast. The slow-burn nature of their romance was perfectly paced and wonderful to experience as a reader.

This book is full of action, suspense, and romance. There are several storylines woven throughout the book and the author did a wonderful job threading them around Hadyn and Rune. I love the author's writing style - this isn't the first novel by Abigail Own I've read and she has become a top favorite.

Whoa…The Prologue grabbed me and the story never let me go! It made me sad and angry and ready to fight.

Rune could fight his thoughts as much as he wants, but when he met Hadyn, he met his match. I quickly fell in love with her sassy attitude. She shows no fear, though he thinks she should. He doesn’t need dragon flames to set her body on fire.

Hadyn had tracked down Rune, and it was luck that she found him when she did. Her parents had told her to RUN to Rune., a rogue black dragon with a bounty on his head. He doesn’t know it, but he has friends and they will need them to rescue her parents from the Alliance.

Rune had been an enforcer for the Alliance, chosen to uphold dragon law. BUT, the laws were breaking down and Rune knew he could no longer continue in the same way. Now, with Hadyn, he will have to make his move.

Abigail Owen’s vivid descriptions of the characters and action, the dragons in flight, almost make my stomach lurch with the twisting and plummeting through the air. The romance is obvious, but that’s okay with me. The dialogues and thoughts are humorous, at times, and I love when danger and humor collide. Makes for some fascinating characters, with well developed personalities. Half the time I am gritting my teeth, the other half I am smiling at their antics.

Cracking up at dialogue like:

“…you’re awful cute when you get all alpha-hole-y.”

“Well, hello there Grumpalumapagus….”

Beware, the sex is fiery hot!

It’s always fun to see how Abigail Owen will take a familiar storyline and add a fresh twist. She gives her characters, at least the spotlighted ones, a happy ever after, but I am still fearing for them. I know it will not be all laughs and fun and games and I know not all of them will survive. That is what I fear the most.

The tears did flow…and flow. The minute I thought they would stop, Abigail Owen put me on pins and needles, showing me no mercy and I LOVE IT! The tears kept flowing and I kept rereading parts…because I have to. More tears…Even though I know, or I think I know how the story will end, she keeps me on my toes and my emotions roiling. This may be my favorite Fire’s Edge book yet.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of The Traitor by Abigail Owen.

This is the 5th book in this series and whilst it can be read as a standalone reading the previous books would give the reader a better view of the characters and their world

Human , Hayden , has been living with her dead mate's parents after he and her own parents were killed - dragons who have now been captured .
Desperate for help she tracks down rogue dragon Rune, the dragon her 'parents' told to turn to in the event of trouble . Sparks fire - literally - he has enough on his plate as a rogue without this persistent human woman .
But Hayden will not take no for an answer and the rescue mission is planned - just how much of a trap is it ?
Rune will be surprised not just who will have his back in this daring plan but how is feelings for Hayden will grow into something more fiery - sacrifices will be made , who will survive ?

Another entertaining book in this fast paced series - I look forward to reading more from the Author

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

The Traitor, by Abigail Owen, is a full, rich read. It's fifth in a series, but it was my first, and it read perfectly fine as a standalone. It's clear which characters were protagonists in previous books though, and it made me want to track the preceding four books down for sure.

There are certain things one expects from the shifter trope (mates, mating rituals, etc.), But I found this novel felt a little more complete than most. With regard to this story's take on dragon history and clans, I will admit to feeling a little lost here and there, but it was never enough to detract from my enjoyment of the story.

Hayden has almost always known she's an unmated dragon, though she thought her chance at becoming a dragon would never be realized as her fated mate was killed when she was just 10. After her adopted parents--her deceased mate's--were captured, she seeks out rogue dragon Rune for help. Sparks fly (haha, see what I did there?) as they start their rescue mission.

I like that their attraction and love for each other eventually is out in the open and that the true conflict comes in the form of whether they'll rescue her parents and then be able to be together. It's delicious whenever a gruff and growly male shifter becomes all moony over his woman, and Rune does not disappoint. For her part, Hayden is supremely confident and powerful, and I love that her sharp sense of humor and need to contribute doesn't blind her to her weaknesses as a human. She knows exactly what she can and can't do, and she accepts it with remarkable grace.

If you like shifter stories, you'll definitely enjoy this one. Reading the previous four novels in this series is not necessary, but I do suspect that it might help you get a sense of what's what in this particular dragon universe.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

I have pretty much binged this entire series plus the others involved in this world and I have been obsessed!

Especially with Rune! He was the one I was rooting for because he was the one doing what the others couldn’t.

He deserved an amazing mate and that is exactly what he got!

Hadyn Reece is an anomaly within the human mates. She was raised by dragons herself so she knows almost ALL there is to know about dragons. She isn’t fresh on the scene and doesn’t need to be coddled. She is exactly what Rune didn’t know he needed.

Hadyn was meant to be the mate to a green dragon but that didn’t work out the way every one wanted. Rune wants her but knows he can’t turn her fo fear of killing her but he knows he wants to live out her days together.

This whole team of dragon shifters have gone through a lot and have lost a lot. It is super nice to see Rune back in the fold!

While this is the end to this series it is not the end to this world and I can only hope the mesh together in the future!

Wow, this is the first book of Abigail Owen's I've read and it won't be my last. This was so much more than I was expecting. It has all the elements you would hope for in a dragon romance and more. We had aerial firefights, cave hideaways, overprotective mates, mind talking and passionate romance. I loved it. It took me a bit to get into the swim of what has happened in the earlier books but I had no problem sorting out what was going on. It's a big story full of lots of good guys and bad guys. I loved the huge battle at the end between the American dragons and the bad guy from the Alliance. Wonderful romance between the characters.

There is a war for dominance within the secret dragon shifter race. So far it looks pretty evenly split between the clans. Our hero enforcer Rune Abaddon saw the rot within the Alliance early and decided to turn traitor and do something about it. He proceeded to start rescuing human female mates from the Alliance that was forcing mating's resulting in at least half of them dying in the process. He was based in the American colony away from the home base of the Alliance in Europe.

Hayden Reece is an orphan human who's fated mate was killed before she they could mate. She has his fading mark. Her parents and mate Kip were killed when she was a pre-teen and his parents, Chaghan & Qara, took her in to raise. They taught her all about dragons and survival skills needed in their world. When they are captured she finds Rune, whom Chagan trusted, to help her rescue them. This starts a fantastical story of them falling in love and bringing his old enforcers into the rescue. We find a gathering of many disenchanted dragons coming together for a great showdown with a rogue agent within the Alliance. What a powerful ending in this book.

I loved it. I've been patiently waiting for Rune to final meet his fated mate. It was worth the wait. But, Abigail Owen you know what you did, and I kinda hate you a little right now for doing it. I love the book and how everything turned out, except for that. (I'm giving you the evil eye right now). ARC given, this review is honestly and voluntarily given. No spoilers, but just that broad, it could be anything, foreshadow.

The Traitor by Abigail Owen is the sixth and final book in the Fire's Edge series and jam-packed with action, suspense, mystery and intrigue. A captivating storyline that keeps you perched on the edge of your seat and characters such as Rune and Hayden, who have sizzling chemistry and strong, determined personalities. I’ve loved this entire series and definitely recommend reading every story to fully appreciate the world this author has created. I’m certainly excited to see what Ms Owen has in store for us next!

Abigail Owen has done it again!
I can always count on her to write an exciting, action packed paranormal romance.
Rune & Hadyn we’re so much fun to read about. Hadyn didn’t take any of Rune’s nonsense and Rune kept Hadyn on her toes. They had a great back and forth. I really liked watching their relationship develop among all the chaos of the situation they were in.
Owen built a fun world filled with dragons and romance. The culture and history of the dragon shifters was clearly very thought out and made the reading experience more enjoyable and interesting.
This is part of a series but I think it can read as a standalone no problem.
Thank you so much to the author and Entangled Publishing for gifting me an arc. All thoughts and opinions about the book are my own.

3.75 stars

This is a sweet and sexy romance between two people who desperately fight their attraction to each other.and I'm so here for it!
this is the final book of the series but can be read as a standalone.
Here we met I Rune and I absolutely loved his story! Not only do we get the full back story as to why he went Rogue but we also his past and why he is the way he is.
Hadyn was the perfect heroine for him. Her back story was so heartbreaking and to be honest i had my doubts for a bit if they wouldn't be able to have a true HEA but they did and ohhh it was so good!
Im kinda sad this was the last book in the series because this world was fantastic!

*Thank you to Netgalley and he publishers for the chance to read this book in exchage of an honest review*

This is book 5 in the Fire's Edge series and while it could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading not only the previous books in this series but also the books in the Inferno Rising series as well as they are interconnected. With that being said, we finally get Rune's story in this one!! Decades ago Rune knew he had to make a stand against the system that was being used to not only match dragon mates but to rule the clans as well. But in the course of not only his choices but in helping others, his hideout is destroyed and he is left on the run with a bounty on his head. But when a woman who intrigues him comes to his mountain, he is intrigued. Hadyn lost the future that she expected long ago. But when her adopted parents are taken, she goes to the man who has chosen to stand up to the alliance and do what is right. Now she just hopes that he will help her get her parents back while still staying alive herself.

I absolutely loved Rune's story! Not only do we get the full back story as to why he went Rogue but we also get his past as well. We find out exactly what makes him tick and realize that he truly IS a good man who made an impossible choice. All to the greater good! I wanted to know exactly what drove him from the first time we read about him, and his story is phenomenal! Hadyn is the perfect choice for him. Her back story is heartbreaking and I truly thought that they wouldn't be able to have a true HEA, but I am so glad that this author proved me wrong in this! I loved seeing how everything ties together not only in this series but in the world altogether. I really don't want to say too much, because I don't want to spoil anything. But I can say, this one has become my top favorite in this series just because the characters are that great! Loved it!

We have Rune and Hayden. Finally Rune's book and I have been waiting for this one and Abigail did not disappoint! Hadyn was once a human mate. Her mate died and was adopted by dragon shifters. She was raised on the knowledge of dragon shifters. Hayden is sweet and has attitude to pass around. Rune is one of the first black dragons and turned rogue and branded a traitor. Now through the entire series we see Rune as a total ass and sometimes jerk but it isn't always as it seems. The chemistry between Rune and Hayden is astronomical. Hayden tests Rune at every corner and Hayden is determined to to destroy all his defenses. I knew this story as well as the entire series would get better and better! I don't want to go into alot of detail that will spoil the story but worth every word!

Thanks to Entangled Amara and NetGalley, too,
For my copy of this book for which this is my honest review.

The world building in this story is brill,
Creating a paranormal romance that will thrill.
Dragon shifters usually belong to a king ruled clan
But some have gone rogue with a different plan.

Corruption and maltreatment is rife it seems
As Hadyn Reece knows, reliving it in her dreams.
Her fated mate and her parents were killed
So his shifter parents raised her, their concerns they instilled.

When their family hideout Alliance dragons breach
His parents protect her, keep her out of reach.
They’re taken by the dragons to a lair
And Hadyn has the skills to follow them there.

Rune Abandon is the shifter that she needs so
Up to his mountain hideout she has to go.
Can she convince him to help her in her quest
Or will she need to work alone, just do her best?

With shifters, loyalties, mates and lies
This story is enthralling, filled with many a surprise.
There are battles to be fought, a war to be won
But there’s also romance before the story is done.

I thoroughly enjoyed this adventurous book
If you like paranormal adventures, please give it a look.
It is well written, engaging and intense,
A glorious addition to this series of romantic suspense.

Rune Abaddon turned his back on being an enforcer when he realized that potential female mates were being killed when those in power decided to try and turn them against their will and mate to them dragon males who were not their mates. If a female tries to mate a male who is not her mate, she will die when he breathes his dragon fire into her. So Rune let his people and his friends think that he was stealing mates and keeping them, when he was actually keeping them safe until they could find their true mates.

When Hadyn Reece's adoptive parents are kidnapped, she does what her father had taught her to do, she went in search of Rune to get his help. Haydn had been a potential mate but her mate had died along with her biological parents before they were old enough to try and mate. His parents took her in and she's been with them ever since. So when dragon shifters come and kidnap her parents, she knows only one thing to do, get help. Rune isn't sure about her story and he's skeptical about her at first but they do finally come to an understanding and he agrees to help her. But things go terribly wrong when they go to save her parents and Rune realizes that he needs more help than he thought.

I really thought that this was going to be the end for Rune and his friends at one point but then he makes a fast about turn and decides to change tactics to make sure that their secret doesn't get out to the humans, it makes other dragon shifters from the opposing side look differently at him and this story takes a turn that I never saw coming.

I've been reading this series since the beginning and I've loved this series, the characters, the storylines, pretty much everything. But I will say that this story made my cry at one point, the heartbreak was real and deep with this book. There's no shortage of action, drama and romance, these characters come alive while reading and really draws you into the story. Rune deserved a happy ending and I'm glad he finally got one.

Disclosure: I was given an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Abigail Owen is one of my newer go-to authors and she really helped bring me back to my love of PNR romance. Having read two of the previous Fire’s Edge books, I had a bit of a background to the dragon shifters series, but Rune’s book can honestly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone.
Rune and Hadyn were…pardon the expression…smoking hot! She is strong and resilient, with both fire and humor. Rune is definitely a grumpy dragon, but you know there’s a heart of gold and a strong moral fiber under those scales. To be branded a traitor and hunted for protecting unmated women doesn’t stop Rune from helping Hadyn find her adoptive shifter parents. And it doesn’t stop the chemistry burning between them.
While I wish this wasn’t the last of the series, I’m glad we got to end with this couple. I look forward to whatever Ms. Owen writes next, as it’s sure to be as great, if not better, than her previous books. And for those who have read her Brimstone, Inc series, watch for an Easter egg in this book!

A great end to an awesome series. Full of action, suspense, danger, excitement, unexpected twists and turns, and including an intense storyline that will hold your attention and keep you flipping the pages. Finally, we get Rune’s full story and it definitely proves that not everything is always as it seems. There are layers upon layers and I enjoyed seeing him finally be able to get some vindication and acceptance and find his HEA. Rune and Hayden were awesome characters who balanced and challenged each other along the way. I loved that Hayden, being raised in the dragon world to be a mate, knew how to take care of herself and do things on her own. She was right there in the middle of it all, doing what needed to be done regardless of the consequences. I also enjoyed seeing other couples and catching up with them throughout the story. It’s sad to see this series comes to and end but each book was a fantastic adventure in the dragon world. I can’t wait to see what’s in store next.
