Eliza Wentworth is no lady a decade ago the notorious pirate Jandeau murdered her family & she vowed to spend the rest of her life at sea, saving others. She’d rather be firing cannons than embroidering pillows—or worse, bowing to the demands of a husband. But when she’s stranded on an island off the coast of Scotland, now she is the one in need of help. Highlander Beck Macquarie has never met a woman like Eliza. He hasn’t met many women, period, thanks to the blasted curse set upon Wolf Isle decades ago. To save the clan, he needs a wife and bairns, and rough-around-the edges Eliza is anything but wife material. She has no intention of staying once she’s able to set sail again. When she asks Beck to teach her the ways of the bedroom while she bides her time on his island, he can’t say no. As they learn more about each other, though, past trauma and secrets resurface.
This is the second book in the series & it’s easily read on its own. I loved both Beck & Eliza both strong characters who butted heads several times but their attraction was electric. The pace was fast & furious & by the time I reached halfway there was no way I was putting it down until I’d finished. Romance & pirates plus a jealous ‘crow’, a family curse, deep seated guilt & you have a wonderful, engrossing, enthralling read, which I loved & I look forward to the other three Macquarie brothers finding love
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I really enjoyed this one. The brothers of Wolf Isle are becoming a fun family to read on about as they try to break their family curse. I liked how strong of a character Eliza was and Beck was just perfect for her. The whole pirate theme was an added bonus to this story. I can't wait for the next in the series.

1422 Ulva Isle Is the Norse name for Wolf Isle.

The premise of this series is that this clan is cursed by an old crone. The first Macquarie Chieftain, got a lass pregnant with no offer of marriage and married another due to a clan alliance. Well this lass was so broken she took her own life. So her powerful witch mother cursed the entire Macquarie clan to stop creating illegitimate children forcing them in a cruel world alone. Now they won’t be able to populate and get any lass pregnant, not until the clan really comprehends what true love really is! Plus the mates they chose can’t be from illegitimate births or again the curse can’t be broken, However this includes all Macquarie properties and everyone living on them will live in infertility and contagious illness. Plus it will affect every living thing not just the clan, but also the livestock and harvest as everything will die and nothing will exist. It will be a cold, miserable, barren, existence! The witch then stuck her blade into the tree covered in blood which made the tree cry forever for the Macquarie clan of Ulva Isle! This tree can’t be cut down or remove the dagger or they would be cursed forever and never have any chance for love and to populate with bairns. Now things were starting to change as the oldest brother Adam married Lark and the first buds appeared on the tree. It was a start and the next chapter begins centering on Beck Macquarie….

Scotl,and, 1547

This book centers on Beck Macquarie who doesn’t really believe in this ridiculous family curse. The only things he loves is his brothers Adam, Callum, Drostan, Eagan, and sister-in-law Lark, his clan and the boat he name The Calypso. He had been building with his own two hands for the past two years with all the love in his heart! Now he is a pirate hunter with his speed worthy boat. The thing he hates most is pirates, especially the notorious Claude Jandeau who abducts and brutalizes women and children and sells them into slavery! He nearly did that to his sister-in-law Lark two years ago (The Highlander’s Unexpected Proposal) but luckily they got her in time! He has been trying to catch this slippery weasel Jandeau to kill him with no success!

On Eilean Mòr Isle in the Sound of Jura, Beck meets the beautiful Erica Wentworth and her small entourage who is near starving! This is her family not by blood, but still a family. This family consisted of the middle aged Alice, thirteen year old Anders, eight year old Pip and Hester who was about three years old. Each of them were rescued by the pirate who is like a father to Erica, Captain John Pritchert, another privateer, for King Henry of England. He had saved Erica at twelve years of age, after the wicked Pirate Jandeau and his crew of fifty evil pirates on his ship, The Borreau, that brutally murdered her parents right in front of Erica! Jandeau was planning on selling Erica into slavery and Captain John luckily saved her. Captain John even killed two of his own crew who tried to later attack her! Even though Erica was in shock, she feels very guilty for not saving her baby brother who was also a prisoner she assumes on Jandeau’s ship! She has no idea if her brother who was three years old is dead, alive or a slave! Because of this Erica has dedicated her life to helping saving other lost children.

Beck sees Erica doesn’t trust easily and lies easily, but she is different than any other woman he has ever met. Not that he has met many woman living on Wolf Isle! Erica doesn’t trust men at all after all she has been through in her young life . Yet notices how different Beck is than most men, besides being drop dead gorgeous! She is so worried about Captain John and his crew on his ship, The Devils Blood, as they should of picked her up by now. Besides the fact they were near starving.

Beck saves Erica and her entourage and brings them to Wolf Isle, the attraction between Beck and Eliza is quite obvious. As they are like a moth to a flame and the chemistry between them is sizzling hot! Erica decides she wants the honorable Beck Macquarie to teach her about passion and give her lessons in bed. As Eliza doesn’t want to ever get married and be any man’s possession. Beck knows he can’t get her pregnant or he might curse his family forever. They both want Jandeau dead! The one thing Jandeau wants is Erica, the one that slipped through his fingers and soon Eliza is going to have to make a decision between the free and secure life she has lived or sacrificing everything for the people she loves! What shall she choose?

As Beck and Erica are like a a moth to a flame, for these star crossed lovers this attraction turns into love. Can Beck convince this Lass who might have some royal British bloodlines to stay with him forever? A Lass who curses like a sailor, who is more comfortable in sailors clothes than in frilly dresses and petticoats. A woman who loves the freedom of the sea and the spray of the ocean breeze as much as Beck, Except Erica tries to steal the one thing he loves as much as his family. Is it the ultimate betrayal? Does Erica ever find out what happened to Captain John the man who is like a second father to her and his missing pirate crew? Does she ever discover the fate of her baby brother and will she ever forgive herself for not saving him? Will Jandeau ever get his hands on the beautiful Erica to torment and pillage? Can Beck convince Erica to stay with him on Wolf Isle and let him love her forever? Read and find out the answers of so many questions in this breathtaking story!

I have been a long fan of this author Heather McCollum’s for over five years and have read and loved every book she has ever written to be honest. Yet this book absolutely blew me away! It is definitely her best work in my opinion. A book I definitely could not put down! It has everything readers will love: a swoon worthy hero, a heroine who has witnessed many horrors in life yet has a worthy goodness in her and a gentle heart. A black hearted evil villain that will give you chills and squirm in your seat! Plus the wonderful Macquarie family that you want to just become a part of.

Now if you want to talk about plotting this had plots within plots where I definitely was holding onto my seat and gasping for air! Definitely was causing some heart palpitations in this reader as I was swept away in a definite literary masterpiece that I absolutely wholeheartedly loved! These characters both good and bad are absolutely awe inspiring and unforgettable. It is one of those books you don’t want to see end! Probably one of my favorite books that I have read in the past decade! Yes I loved The Highlander’s Pirate Lass that much as it was totally brilliant! A book historical readers definitely don’t want to miss! I can’t recommend this book enough as every page from start to finish was an absolute masterpiece! I would give this book a bazillion stars if I could as 5 stars does not seem nearly enough! Woohoo, I am so excited and looking forward to reading Callum Macquarie’s story next in the third book in the Brothers of Wolf Isle series!

Beck Macquarie and his brothers are trying to save their Clan. It had a curse laid on it years ago, but now they believe they've found a way to break it.

While out on his new ship they find women and children marooned on a nearby small island.

Eliza Wentworth has had a very difficult life. The man who rescued her from a terrible fate and has treated her as his daughter left her to protect the children while he fights an evil pirate.

This historical romance has a combination of Highlanders, Pirates and lots of excitement. There are sea battles and surprises galore. The characters are not what you might expect from the era.

This is part of a series that I will definitely be reading more of, but you could read it on it's own.

I loved it.

Heather McCollum does it again. I’ve read every book I can get my hand on by this author and her leanest book in this series is fantastic. The series being a secondary or spin off of the Highland Isles Series. I love that characters from that series make an appearance in this series as well. The characters, as with all of this authors books, are well crafted and believable. I truly enjoyed reading this series, and I can’t wait to hear about the next brother in this captivating ancient Highland family.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased opinion and honest review.

Eliza is possibly the most unique heroine to join the ranks of heroines. She is bold, outspoken, protective, loyal and can tell off a female bully in a way that leaves you laughing! Beck is one of the Macquarie’s of Wolf Isle with the bleeding tree and the curse forcing them to fall in love to save themselves.

Beck rescues Eliza and her family from a deserted island turning his world upside down. Still missing part of her ‘family’ leaves Eliza missing a part of her heart. The villain of the story, Jandeau, is a pirate who really is a horrible person. You dislike him from the very beginning for all the cruelty he has caused to Eliza as well as others.

Eliza has never forgiven herself for allowing Jandeau to kill her family. Does not matter that she was only twelve at the time. Her life mission is to find and kill him, but first she needs the friends who became her family.

The Highlander’s Pirate Lass is a fast moving, page turner. You never know what Eliza is going to do or say next, such a loveable character. Beck’s care and love of her is one any woman would want. Too, the characters from McCollum’s other series and from the first book in this series help to make you feel a part of this long-ago community. Loved this book and looking forward to Callum’s romance.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Highlander’s Pirate Lass is an entertaining rollercoaster of a romance. The characters, plot, and action combine to create an unforgettable journey. This book is a fast-paced, action-packed, passionate adventure.

Eliza Wentworth finds herself stranded on a Scottish island, not knowing what became of her ship and crew. Beck Macquarie sails the seas capturing pirates. Beck and his brothers are trying to re-populate their island. However, the island is cursed. Eliza is independent and strong-willed, yet she also has a quiet vulnerability that shows in certain moments. Beck is courageous and will do anything for those he loves. I enjoyed both Beck and Eliza’s characters. Captain John, a father figure, raised Eliza. I found Eliza’s quoting of what Captain John would do tiresome at times; however, it was a well-used device to showcase Eliza’s strengths and weaknesses.

The attraction between Beck and Eliza is instant and all-consuming. The couple’s passion is off the charts. Beck and Eliza’s connection is strong from the start and grows in heat and intensity throughout the book.

The plot held a bit of romance, adventure, danger, and battle. There was something eye-catching occurring throughout the story. The cast of characters was colorful and added spice to the story. The book flowed well, keeping me interested and turning the page. The Highlander’s Pirate Lass is the second book in The Brother’s Of Wolf Isle series. These stories focus on the Macquarie brother’s road to love and the breaking of their island’s curse. This novel grabbed me and didn’t let go. It was an exhilarating journey of romance and adventure.

A sexy Highlander, a brave lass, a curse, pirates....what more could you want in a historical romance?!! Heather McCollum treats us to another exciting story in the Brothers of Wolf Isle series. My attention was captured from the very first line to the very last one.

I adored Eliza, what a feisty and loyal soul she is and her curiosity about everything had me giggling quite a bit. I also loved Beck, such an honourable brave man. Put the two of them together and you get very heated moments, in words and actions!!

Very well written and definitely recommend this book!!!

The Hoghlander's Pirate Lass
The Brothers of Wolf Isle #2
Heather McCollum
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Eliza Wentworth watched the notorious pirate Jandeau murder her family, then was taken by him as well. She lucked out and was then taken by another pirate that ended up being like a father to her, but make no mistake she never forgot what happened to her and swore right then and there that she'd rather be sailing the high seas helping others get away from pirates. But when she's stranded on an island off the coast of Scotland, she herself needs help once again. The only problem is the help that finds her is not only from a man, it's from a man that is irresistible.

Highlander Beck Macquarie has never in his life met a woman like Eliza, but then again he hasn't met many women because of the curse that was set upon Wolf Isle decades ago. To save the Clan, he needs a wife and bairns, and Eliza will do many things but that. Eliza has no intention of staying and will set sail as soon as she can. But the desire between the two only heats up instead of cooling, which is not what they want.

Then when she asks Beck to teach her the ways of the bedroom while she bides her time on the island, there's no way he can say no. Now when push comes to shove and everything she thought she knew is crumbling down around her, she will have to make a choice. Will she chose the only life she knows and set sail? Or will she finally settle down and see what's right in front of her?

Heather McCollum is amazing. Her fabulous novels are riveting and full of adventure. This time Ms. McCollum takes out on the sea for a pirate adventure you will not soon forget. The characters were wonderful. Some we already knew and some we just met, but either way reading this book is like coming home. The heat is turned up in this one because the two main characters find themselves falling in love with no way to douse the flames.
Ms. McCollum thank you for one of the best novels I've read this year.

Will her guilt lead her to her doom …

As I repeatedly say revenge stories are far from my favorite as they are too often filled with angst and pain as it fuels people soul to even betray if need be for one only purpose.
This one is no different but I much loved the first book in this series, I did not want my partiality to this trope preventing me to read it.
So here I am.
And I devoured this book in no time, entranced by this tale of two persons who should never have meet.

Eliza survived a pirate’s attack as a child, since it fueled her hate for the one responsible for her entire family’s demise, she then learned everything she had to to be able to confront her enemy face to face one day. Everything except passion and love.
Growing up among a crew of misfits, she is no blushing maiden, yet, not one tempted her to cross the border until a kind Highlander rescues her group and intrigues her enough to wonder if she has found the right man.
Yet as passion ignites between them, will love be enough …
Beck knows what is expected from him, marriage and no illegitimate child. But he is not yet ready to hand out his freedom to only one lass.
Well, it was what he believes before coming across a feisty fiery lass stranded on abandoned island.
From beginning to end, how I loved him. Ready to sacrifice everything even his most precious possession for the woman he can not live without.

I read this book in no time, sucked into the pages by this gripping tale with two lively persons who take no prisoner and go for what they want.
Definitely a series a grasp and devour with gusto.

It has been about two/three years since our last visit to Wolf Isle and the Macquarie brothers. Adam and Lark (The Highlander's Unexpected Proposal) are still in newly wedded bliss – driving the rest of the brothers, Beck, Drostan, Callum, and Eagan, to distraction with their canoodling. Beck has spent the last two years in a labor of love – he’s built his own ship – a three-masted carrack -- and she is a thing of beauty. Beck loves The Calypso more than anything else – well, anything except his brothers. The Macquarie curse is still in full force. The half-dead willow tree still has the newly formed buds on it from Adam and Lark falling in love, but those buds haven’t opened or progressed in healing. It appears that ALL of the Macquarie brothers will have to find love before the curse is broken.

Beckett (Beck) Macquarie is happy to be on his new ship – flying through the water. She is tight, sleek, light, and plies through the water like a hot knife cutting butter. The mission he has set for himself and the Calypso? Find and destroy the French pirate Jandeau because he caused harm to Beck’s family. Jandeau kidnapped Lark and had every intention of torturing her and selling her into slavery. Beck won’t rest until he destroys Jandeau.

While Beck and his crew are out patrolling, Beck spots a woman signaling from a rock formation on an uninhabited island. Beck and some of his trusted men row over to the island and find two women and three children who all tell him that a pirate took over their ship and abandoned them there. After some observations and a few questions, that story just doesn’t ring true, but Beck cannot leave them on the island with no food. His only option is to take them back to their family seat, Gylin Castle on Wolf Isle.

When she was twelve years old, Eliza Wentworth endured a horrible tragedy. The pirate Jandeau attacked the ship she, her brother, and her parents were on. They murdered her father outright, violated her mother beyond belief before killing her, and took Eliza and her 3-year-old brother prisoner. She was so fortunate. She was rescued by Captain John Pritchert, an English privateer – and she has sailed with him since then. Captain John’s mission is to rescue women and children who have been taken by pirates, so Eliza has quite a little family now. Yes, they are all her family – the sailors on the ship as well as the other woman and three children who live aboard the ship with them. When Captain John dropped them off on the uninhabited island, he left them with enough food to last for two weeks. He’d be back for them before they ran out of food – except – he wasn’t. Eliza is so very worried about him. Had Jandeau attacked the ship? If so, did any of them survive? She has to find him!

Beck is immediately smitten with Eliza. She’s unlike any woman he has ever met, but he also knows he has to keep his distance. First, if he tried anything, she’d gut him. Second, if they want to break the curse, he absolutely cannot father any by-blows. Since Eliza fully intends to resume her life aboard Captain John’s ship, Beck knows there is no chance for them to wed. So, he’ll just have to keep his distance. HA! We all know how well that is going to work out.

This fast-paced story will keep you reading well past bedtime. You’ll absolutely adore Beck and Eliza and you’ll hold your breath right along with them as Jandeau makes an appearance. There is a heartwarming romance, scurvy pirates, jealous wenches, ship theft (is there a word for that?), sacrifice, and fierce loyalty. You can’t get much better than that. I hope you’ll love this story as much as I did. I can hardly wait for the third book featuring Callum Macquarie and Anna Montgomerie!

“I want him always…I want no one else…”

Beckett Macquarie and his brothers are committed to rebuild their ancestral home on Wolf Isle. Being cursed for over 100 years, it won’t be an easy endeavor, but with hard work, they have faith it can be done. While his brothers are working on rebuilding their clan, Beck is determined to bring justice against the blood-thirsty pirate Jandeau, and builds a ship to set sail to do that very thing. But fate steps in and Beck is placed in the path of a beautiful siren…one that has escaped the clutches of Jandeau when she was a child, and is just as ruthless in her quest in obtaining revenge. The more time Beck spends with this pirate lass, the more he realizes he has to come to terms with his feelings…will the bond they are forming be strong enough to finally break his family’s curse?

Eliza Wentworth watched her family be butchered in front of her at the young age of 12 by the infamous pirate Jandeau. Luckily, she was rescued by privateer Captain John and is raised and treated like one of the crew and loved like a daughter. When she is left on an isle while Captain John seeks out the whereabouts of Jandeau, she comes across a brawny highlander, Beckett Macquarie. Never one to be shy about what she wants, Eliza pursues Beck with a passion like she’s never felt before…could this be love?

Once again, Heather McCollum has weaved a funtastical tale full of smexxy highlanders, wicked pirates, and family curses! From start to finish THE HIGHLANDER'S PIRATE LASS is a romance that’s impossible to put down! Can’t wait for the next installment and highly recommend!

4 stars - It was really good

Eliza Wentworth is no lady. After seeing her family murdered by a notorious pirate, she vows to spend her life at sea saving others. But after being stranded on an island off the coast of Scotland she has to rely on others for help, including the handsome highlander Beck Macquaire.

This was a very enjoyable historical romance. I adored Eliza. She was smart, spunky, and could sail a ship or kill a man when necessary. Eliza was just a wonderful and strong heroine, especially when it came to her views on adopting and taking care of children. I loved that she was so open with her heart when it came to rescuing children in need.

From the very beginning I loved the banter and intense looks between Eliza and Beck. It was an instant attraction and I loved how they both slowly learned how to love. Beck was a great hero. He was protective and kind. I loved how he never tried to change Eliza and let her lead when it came to sailing his ship against pirates since she had more experience. He really was the perfect partner for her because he accepted her and loved her as she was.

Overall, this was an extremely enjoyable historical romance. I really loved the writing and characters, especially all the Wolf brothers. I now want to go back and read the first book now to see how Adam and Lark got together.

I love the way the main female lead hold herself. She isn't weak minded of feel she need a mans help. I love how the male lead doesn’t try to tear her down nut instead admires her straight . I truly enjoyed this book.

The Highlander’s Pirate Lass by Heather McCollum. Well, this book was an extraordinary read. I found the Heroine, Eliza very interesting. I have not read a character such as her. I loved her strong will and her passion.
She walks with her head high as her determination, drive and ambition pushes to become someone better for the people she loves. I believe her character is the most interesting of them all. Beck was just along for the ride. I love how the writer keeps the reader wrapped into the plot that one didn’t notice that they have finished the book. I enjoyed the intensity of the story as well as the exciting moments that kept popped up every so often.
There are some heart warming, romantic and emotional moments of the story too. These moments had me not wanting the book to end. Beck and Eliza are two people who set the seas on fire. I like how the writer portrays Eliza as a meek and mild woman, but once she strapped on those trousers, and stepped foot on the boat… day quickly became night. Eliza became the enemy’s nightmare. Beck didn’t know what to do.
He could only chant, save my boat! Beck wasn’t a simpleton himself. He walks with the strong confidence and determination, until one day his eyes just so happen to land on the intriguing, beautiful Eliza. I enjoyed the constant back and forth of stubborn wills and conflicting emotions the two shared. These moments turned up the heat during a few intimate moments.
I appreciate that the writer provided the Scottish and French dialogue, as well as the meaning for these words. This helped add to the realism of the story. The descriptive wording for many of the exciting sometimes chaotic events in the book, helped with realism of the book too. For me this book was a fabulous read. The action, along with the suspense and thrill of the hunt had me pleased with the book.
Until next time my fellow readers… read on!

I'm absolutely loving this series! Eliza is one of my new favorite heroines, she is spunky and sassy and tells it like she sees it.. She has no trouble pulling a knife on someone who touches her without her permission.. Not to mention that she is also taking care of children that she rescued from the clutches of Jandeau, the villan from the first book.. but you don't have to read that one to follow whats going on... you totally should though, its really good and the Macquaries of wolf isle have definitely become one of my new favorite series..

When Beck rescues Eliza and her family and takes them back to Wolf Isle he has no idea that he has met his match.. Eliza has no intention of ever getting married, instead she wants to take down Jandeau and then take over her foster fathers ship when he either retires or dies.. She has no idea that Beck is sneaking under her defenses.. There is a ton of seafaring action, and the chemistry between Beck and Eliza is blistering..This book left me with that happy/ satisfied feeling you get with a good happily ever after story.

I can't wait to get a finished copy of this book, and for the rest of the brothers to find there true loves and lift the curse on Wolf Isle.. if your looking for a new scottish romance, and love some love on the high seas you should read this book.

The second book in the series is another win!

This is the second book in The Brother's of Wolf Isle series and it was another win for the series. The chemistry between Beck and Eliza are off the charts, and the action/ adventure really works well to push the story forward. I never felt that the story dragged or that it was getting boring. I enjoyed how feisty Eliza is as a heroine, and how she never backs down. The scenes with the tarts made my day, and many times throughout the book I was bursting into laughter. This is a great addition and can't wait for the rest of the series to come out.

The Highlander's Pirate Lass is the first book that I've read by Heather McCollum, and surprisingly, I enjoyed it more than I have expected. Everything about this book is just interesting that got me hooked from the beginning till the end. Beck and Eliza were able to steal my heart and I just can't help but adore both of them. Overall, I think Heather has done a great job in delivering this story and I can't wait to read more books from her. I really recommend for everyone to try this story.

Once again Heather McCollum takes you to the highlands. The brothers of Wolf Isle are fighting a curse that has almost wiped out there home. Beck Macquarie finds Eliza and her friends abandoned on a small island with no food. In rescuing them he finds that family is not necessarily thru blood. Elsa and her friends and family help him track down the pirate that threatens his home. Great story abd well worth you time.

A little romance, a little pirate adventure, a curse and men wearing kilts. What's not to like about this one? Eliza and her group of orphans are rescued by Beck who is out searching for the French pirate who is patrolling the waters. Fun and feisty characters, easy read. Part of a series but can be read alone. Highly recommend.
