This will be a good book to have on hand for kids who are moving. It supports the child's feeling of sadness and loss without getting maudlin. It ends up on a cheerful note, without discounting the sad feelings.

I absolutely love this book! I cannot wait to purchase a hard copy for my classroom library. The illustrations are like a child’s mind: a unique combination of abstract and realistic. It will likely meet children where they are. The words are simple, and students will be able to memorize the story or tell the story through the pictures. When students are able to do so, their communication skills go through the roof! If you can say it, you can write it, if you can write it, you can read it and vice versa all round. I really loved how the pictures were more minimalist to highlight attention to detail in the new and old house. Through each door, the reader sees the old and new kitchens similarities and differences. My favorite detail was the old child’s name written on the baseboard!

Moving can be hard for many children, but this book shows a child taking the situation head on with resilience and perseverance. With enough conversation through the book and after, a student has the potential to practice resilience and perseverance in their life.

That story also gives the message that life will always have beginnings, and it’s you attitude that will make them what they turn out to be: they will either be happy or upsetting.

This is a sweet story about a little girl who is in transition. She is leaving her old house and moving into a brand new one. She takes the reader on a tour of her old home and says goodbye to her familiar surroundings: the river where she fishes, the forest she runs through, the pony that she pets daily, an old gate that she loves to swing on and her cozy fire place where she dreams and imagines, just to name a few.

As she bids her old home adieu she excitedly says bonjour to her new life and the brand new adventures that are before her. This book is a wonderful conversation starter when kids are in the position of moving on in their life. The illustrations are delightful, whimsical and engaging. The book is printed on FSC-certified paper with vegetable inks. I recommend this book.

This book is beautifully illustrated, and offers an optimistic outlook on moving to a new house. I wish we had this when we moved to our new house last year! The simple writing is perfect for toddlers, and I hope to snag a physical copy for the next time we move. I think this would be perfect for any family that moves often.

A lovely, lovely book about moving! The illustrations are so pretty--somewhat watercolor-style with nicely drawn characters too. I love how this book threads the needle between sentimentality and resilience. Sam obviously loved their old home and that was handled respectfully and carefully. But, at the same time, Sam was also optimistic and open to all of the new possibilities in their new home too. This is a wonderful message for kids--you can miss what you leave but also find new things to appreciate.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this for any kids with a transition coming up. It's a very healthy, graceful take on goodbye and hello!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
