A good memoir with solid advice. Some of it reads more like a biography with some short tips mixed in, but the lessons are solid and can really be used in any career or life event. Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to read and review.

A fabulous read!
Do you want to achieve your dreams and find your place in the world? Whether you are in a season of transition or starting a new chapter in life, author Whitney Holtzman wants you to know You Are The First You. In her literary debut, Whitney writes about the lessons necessary to be successful in life and in business, but that we aren’t taught in school.

Follow the story of Whitney’s career in the sports marketing world as a female entrepreneur. Her journey has included stops at ESPN, Major League Baseball and VaynerMedia, working for entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk. Her passion is at the intersection of sports and making the world a better place, which was evidenced when she then joined RISE, which was founded by the owner of the Miami Dolphins. RISE is a racial equality nonprofit with the commissioner of every major sports league on the board.

Ultimately, Whitney became an entrepreneur and launched her own company, Social Victories, which helps professional athletes and sports leagues build their brands. Most importantly, You Are the First You is filled with all the essential lessons Whitney has learned throughout her journey that are key to a successful career and finding one’s purpose in life. Her goals in sharing her story are to provide readers with an unwavering belief in themselves and to motivate them to never give up on their dreams.

Thank you for the chance to read and review You Are The First You. I enjoyed the message of this book and was inspired by the author's story and go-getter attitude. There was some great advice in this book but at times I felt the advice was too simplified. A couple of times I found myself thinking, hmm easier said than done. Overall this would be a great read for an aspiring business woman.

It was really interesting reading a lot of the information this book provided. I found it touched on personal experiences and thinks that are not always taught in a classroom. I really liked the authors writing style.

If you like career memoirs, business stories, or just personal life reflections, 'You Are the First You' is a good book with an interesting story about a woman making it in a predominately male 'industry'. If you're looking for a 'how to' book, this probably isn't the right fit. I probably went into it thinking it was going to be more of a how to, but I got a memoir, and that's absolutely fine because I love business stories, memoirs of personal experiences and feel you learn through others' experiences. But not everyone feels the same way.

This is a great read, thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
