I picked this book to kind of escape from the frothing doom and gloom of present day novels where every character has had a major trauma. The stories here are varied and all have the hallmark of profuse character development. But the style was overdrawn in general and so different from the leaner novels of today I got lost.
The stories seem so dated in more ways than one. If that is what other readers are looking for, it may be an excellent choice.
