This is a great story that has a little of everything. Romance, secrets, good guy bad guy, overcoming humiliation and likeable characters. It'll keep you on the edge of your seat and you won't be able to put it down.

Welcome to The Lyon’s Den and get ready to enter the world of the most notorious gambling den in London, where matches are made... unusually. Welcome to the world of THE LYON'S DEN: The Black Widow of Whitehall Connected World, where the underground of Regency London thrives... and loves.

The Blurb:
🖋Heiress to a fortune, Jenny Hambling needs a husband, before she is made to marry a man she despises. The Lyon’s Den is her only option to buy a husband fast.

But she runs into the last man she wants to meet, Miles, The Duke of Goldthorpe. He ruined Jenny’s debut by calling her a Mill Girl. Now he will ruin her bargain with his friend.

Three years ago, Miles saw Jenny and tumbled head over heels in love. Doubting his feelings, he called her a name he later regretted, but he arrived at her house too late to apologize. Jenny had gone home. Philosophically, Miles put the whole incident down to a brief infatuation and went on with his life. But infuriatingly, he could never forget her.

Now, he can do no less than make amends for her disastrous first season.

Thrown together, Jenny and Miles find their attraction as strong as ever. But their lives have moved on, and they find themselves in a new place. Miles is a duke with all the pomp and responsibility that entails. Jenny has an industrial empire to manage in the north. The obstacles seem too great.

But are they really?

📚So, I have read these interconnected stories all out of order and at the time I am writing this review I believe there are 25-books in the saga written by an amazing lineup of authors! You can checkout the multiple books here ➡️ https://bit.ly/lyonsdenworld

I enjoyed this story which is combination of marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers, and second chance tropes - all of which I enjoy😉 This book happens to be the first book I have read of Lynne Connolly and I would be interested in reading more of her work in the future. The characters in the story, Jenny and Miles, are both a little lost when the story begins, yet when they finally come together they are great as a couple.

Miles totally stole my heart in this book. He is a man in love and he proves he will walk through fire and worship the ground Jenny walks on, if she will forgive him and then let him be her man. ❤️ Miles and Jenny have such a strong connection, and their interactions are filled with banter, angst, and tension, with combustible chemistry and pure love. You can definitely feel the angst and tension between them, and their yearning for each other is obvious to everyone but them.

Overall rating 4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 3 Flames 🔥🔥🔥

This sort of second chance, enemies to lovers story was well written and pacey, and a really enjoyable instalment of the loosely connected series by multiple authors.

The different stories are of differing quality dependent on author, and this one was a good, relatively well fleshed out one.

After a disastrous season, where a well turned nickname destroyed Jenny Hambling's confidence, and set the capable and industrial heiress scurrying back to Yorkshire, she has had to return to London to secure a husband quickly.

Her father's wish to see her married, preferably to the son of a friend, Wilfred Kelly, has caused him to write his will that puts her inheritance of his business subject to being married. Keen to escape marriage to the controlling and unpleasant Wilfred, Jenny reaches out to Mrs Dove Lyon for help. She is matched with a soldier, Captain Francis (Frank) Burrell. He needs funds to buy his way into a promotion, and is an amiable man happy to support Jenny's ambitions. He is also the best frind of her nemesis 3 years ago. Miles, Duke of Goldthorpe called Jenny a 'Mill Girl' to her face 3 years ago, poleaxed by her and seeking to deny his feelings. When he was unable to apologise to Jenny, as she had left London already, he tries to move on, but cant stop thinking about her.

When Jenny arrives back in his life, Miles is certain he doesn't want Frank to marry her. As he tries to apologise and make amends for his behaviour, he often missteps and is frequently tactless and high handed.

Jenny is reeling from her intense feelings - both of attraction to Miles, and the pain and humiliation of her disgrace because of his actions. As she struggles to reconcile these opposing feelings, will she be able to out fox Wilfred, and learn to trust in Miles' feeling for her, and as for Frank, will he be able to achieve his hearts desire too?

I really enjoyed this, not least because Jenny was a normal sort of person, not a textbook heroine.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and all opinions are my own.

The author did a great job in setting the scene for the Lyones den, however some aspects seemed to not make any sense in the aspect of their characters characteristics. Overall it was a great book to read and I would love to see where the series goes to in the future!

The matchmaking thing is not only unusual, but notably unrealistic and kind of stupid in my opinion.

It was a nice regency novel but not angsts enough for me.

But I like that it didn’t end in a cliffhanger although it’s part of a series.

Like a box of multi flavored crafted chocolates, there seems to be a never ending array of different samples of regency romantic situation set-ups in this numerous book series scripted by several various authors. The common theme tying them all together is the source of origin. Operated and guided by a beautiful, sassy, takes no prisoners, you are either in or out, surprisingly insightful, well meaning, lady, match maker, The Lyon's Den's arranged relationships seem to take a life of their own once she's finalized the agreed upon terms for both parties.

Regarding this one, my thoughts are rather jumbled and hard to peg. I enjoyed parts of it, especially how it started. I really liked Miles's soldier friend, who easily could have been a great love interest for the heroine. I liked seeing Miles so remorseful and now protective of her.

However, I can't help but lament a little what I felt was missing. Jenny was described as a savvy, workaholic, business woman living in a man's world. I would have loved for Miles, the hero, to have seen her in action. Yes, that would have involved a trip and time spent up north out of his comfort zone. Instead, we are merely given mention she juggled a lot of roles so he admired that. She was portrayed more like a damsel in distress due to dodging and weaving a determined, unwelcome suitor. IMO, this weakened and stiffled her character and persona.

I also struggled with plausibility at times, too, despite certain true heart confessions. I can't say more least I give too much away. You see, they lead to explanations to tie up loose ends and set into motion future actions, conversations, and conduct I didn't think played out as well as they could have.

It seemed to jump around a lot near the end in a "say what?" kind of way. The love interest of Miles's immature sister felt thrown in, especially when it was used to continue the meandering plot and wrap up conclusion.

No doubt I'll be back to sample more of this series, folks. I seem to be addicted to it.

I enjoyed this story. I thought that the writer did a great job with pulling me into the story with a romantic and unique plot. Most parts were easy to read. Other parts I thought that I may have missed something. The characters were quite entertaining. The book focuses on more of the romantic side of romance which I loved.
It was the boy chasing the girl. The book is a page turner. Still it was a good story.

The Duke and the Heiress

Jenny is in search of a husband after leaving London in disgrace three years prior. The man who caused her to leave town is back in her life, apologetic, but can she forgive him? Mrs. Dove-Lyon helped her to find a man, but the man her heart is choosing is the man she should despise. It’s a love story, but the path is anything but straightforward. What will happen with the soldier in need of a rich wife, and what will happen with the woman in need of a husband to escape marriage to a man she does not want? Jenny is escaping to London, a place she left in disgrace, because she does not want to marry the man her father has chosen for her. He is a man she does not trust. Yet London holds painful memories for her. Miles thinks he can fix the damage he has caused, but what about her heart? Will Miles break it, or will things turn out all right in the end? Perhaps, the pain he caused three years ago was because he did not know what to do with the attraction he felt. If so, he has much to mend. If you like historical romance, where the hero and heroine have some obstacles to overcome, you might enjoy this story.

Jenny Hambling was embarrassed during her first season by a young uncouth buck who was unsure of his feelings. Jenny left London only to return several years later and she was being forced into a marriage she would not abide.
Where does one go to get help in the marriage mart when you are desperate! The Lyon’s Den which is run by the famous Black Widow of Whitehall. Mrs. Bessie Dove-Lyon’s has a way about her and with her connections.

Just as our author has a way to give you good characters and a fun quick book!

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

I love this series. I really like Miles and Jenny's story. She was a strong heroine that knew what she wanted. Readers will not be disappointed!

I couldn't get through this novel. At about 32 percent, I started skimming. Ten percent more and I jumped to the final chapter. I couldn't even read that.

It's taken me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that the Lyon's Den is not a series but a collection of tangentially related books (a gambling den serves as the thread) by different authors. As a result, one Lyon book can make you squeee and another groan in boredom. I'm not sure what to make of this marketing strategy

That said, why did this book turn me off? Full disclosure: It's been a rough day in a rough week, and my tolerance levels are kind of low. I wanted to be sucked in to a book, and this one didn't do it. I felt like the history the protagonists share (Miles called Jenny a name at her debut, and she fled home to the north in humiliation) is not fleshed out enough for us to understand why he did it. We are led to believe he did it because he liked her, but that just seems like such junior high behavior.

For her part, Jenny is a cipher. We understand that she's a good businesswoman whose father did her an injustice in his will, but she doesn't come across as having any warmth or humor. Wait, that's not entirely fair. She's clearly someone with a strong morality and sense of justice, and I like that. But I didn't feel like I knew her enough to root for her.

I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. It wouldn't be right to leave only stellar reviews. While I may read another Lyon's Den novel, I won't read another by this author. Before you make a decision, please read other reviews; my opinion seems to be in the minority, and it's possible the book will work more for you then it did for me.

Well this was an interesting turn of events. One bad event that happened to her at her coming out with a man, comes back into the picture. Amazing how things turn out when you least expect it. HEA.

Interesting and entertaining read. Jenny needs a marriage of convenience. Goes off to see Mrs Dove-Lyon who points her in the direction of her nemesis Miles's best friend. Miles had previously acted very badly by refering to Jenny as the mill girl. Jenny is determined to wed rather than end up with Wilfred, the mill manager that her father thought would take care of her. Jenny owns the mill and is determined to have an input in running it.

Obviously Miles deeply regrets his previous words and is convinced that Jenny should end up with him. There's a strange eloping and a fist fight before the HEA.

This book has a well-written plot and well written characters. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author. I enjoyed it thoroughly! Thank you, Lynn Connelly, for such a fun story.

The Lyon's Den scores another happy match... folks, do not miss this series! The matches made here are for people in desperate circumstances for one reason or another. No one would ever put them together, but together is where they belong!!! This is the story of Miles and Jenny. He called her a name and messed up her debut season. They meet again now. Watch as they work out the real reason for his past actions and get down to getting together. Loved it!

Lyon Eyes by Lynne Connolly is another entry into the Lyon's Den Connected World of books. Jenny Hambling has approached Mrs. Dove-Lyon looking for a match with a man who would marry her and then leave. What she really wanted was her inheritance and no man to interfere. She found the perfect man, Captain Frank Burrell, a man in need of money to advance in the army and launch his three sisters into society. He obviously would then return to his post in France. Things got complicated almost immediately when Mikes, the Duke of Goldthorpe, Captain Burrell's best friend, recognized Jenny as someone he had fallen for three years prior, but insulted her and sent her flying home. He wanted to rectify the insult, apologize. It got very complicated, at time resembling an episode of the Keystone Cops but was very entertaining to be a part of as the romances righted themselves and the villain got his due.

Jenny just wanted to run the mills as she had when her father was alive. The man, Wilfred, who her father had chosen as her husband, was set to destroy them. He had no vision and was miserly to boot. Miles' mother wanted nothing more than for her two children to marry well and she worked to that end, as did most mothers in the ton. Wilfred wanted Jenny's mill and believed that she could be controlled, as his wife. Captain Burrell wanted Miles' sister, who was only 17 and too young to know her own mind. It got very complicated and involved carriage chases into the country. It was entertaining, though. A fun book to read.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Lyon Eyes by Dragonblade through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #lyoneyes

The Duke of Goldthorpe met his match in Miss Jenny Hambling, but he threw his chances with her away when he insulted her and ruined her season. Recognizing that if she does not find a husband that will allow her to claim her inheritance after her father dies, Jenny reaches out to the one woman in London who can help her. She really did not expect to meet Miles there, together with the man that the Black Widow chose for her. I found this novel intriguing and the attraction between Jenny and Miles is obvious. One cannot help but fall in love with Miles as he steps right out of his comfort zone to accommodate Jenny. However, once bitten, Jenny is reluctant to trust him. I enjoyed this well-written romance and it kept my interest throughout. I received a copy of this novel from Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This was very good fun! The plot was well-paced and the conflict was believable without undue melodrama. There was lovely chemistry and steam (open-door, but tasteful and not overly mechanical).

This is was easy to devour in one go and made for a pleasant diversion. I'll definitely check out the rest of the series.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

Miles and Jenny were kinda like warm characters for me. I didn't care for them but I didn't actively dislike them either. Towards the end of the book I started skipping the longer paragraphs because some of the things happening were super absurd.

I sat down to read this a few hours ago, and couldn't put it down. The characters are great, the plot interesting and the romance delightful. Miles is everything we want in a Duke, and Frank is such a good man. Jenny is a businesswoman in a mans world, so she has to fight for everything. I won't write a spoiler, but I suggest you sit back and enjoy this wonderful tale.
