Mill heiress, Jenny, needs to find a husband. She runs into her nemesis, Miles, who embarrassed her socially a few years back. They each still have feelings for each other. Jenny wants a husband who will let her run her mills, while Miles is looking for a woman who could be his duchess. They both must compromise to find true love. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.

This is such a fun and entertaining series, and I always enjoy heading back to the Lyon’s Den. Lyon Eyes follows Jennifer, a young woman who fled London several years ago after being humiliated by Miles, The Duke of Goldthorpe. Now heiress to a fortune and back in London to find a husband, Jenny enlists the help of Mrs. Dove-Lyon, who matches her with Miles’s friend Frank.

Miles, ashamed of his treatment of Jenny in the past and aware of his not-so-platonic feelings, determines to do whatever it takes to see her happy. As old feelings resurface, Miles and Jenny must decide if they are willing to take a chance on love and each other.

Lyon Eyes is such a great addition to the Lyon’s Den connected world. The story has excellent character development, and Jenny and Miles have a fantastic enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance. Jenny is an independent and intelligent heiress who is looking for a marriage of convenience to protect her assets. She is pressed for time and knows that this is her last chance to escape an unwanted marriage and retain control of her business. She has never forgotten the way Miles humiliated and scorned her all those years ago, making her the center of scandalous gossip. However, she can’t deny the way she feels about him. This results in so many conflicting emotions for Jenny, and it’s interesting to see how she reconciles them and opens herself up to something she never anticipated – a love match.

Miles’s strong feelings for Jenny began the moment he met her and has never waned. However, he doesn’t always know how to express his feelings, which causes problems. Miles spends much of the story trying to make his past misdeed up to Jenny, and his earnestness in doing so is heart-warming. Miles and Jenny have such a strong connection, and their banter throughout the story is wonderful and filled with chemistry. You can definitely feel the angst and tension between them, and their yearning is obvious to everyone but them.

The novella also shows the fickleness of the social elite. Many of the people who pass judgment and ruthlessly gossip to the detriment of others also change their perceptions and opinions when influenced by their peers. It’s an interesting commentary on the superficiality of the elite, and I love how Miles uses his knowledge of this fickleness to ingratiate Jenny back into society. He and his family use the gossip and speculation to their advantage and to help the woman Miles loves.

A quick and entertaining read with great characters, Lyon Eyes is a lovely historical romance. Though it is part of a series, it is easily read as a standalone, as are all of the other stories. That being said, I’ve read eight books in the series and have enjoyed them all. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Dragonblade Publishing, and Lynne Connolly for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

Jenny Hambling turns to the Lyon’s Den to find herself a husband before she’s made to marry a man she despise. Whom does she run into but the one man who made fun of her, the Miles, Duke of Goldthorpe who ruined her debut a few years ago. An enchanting love story of enemies to lovers as these two get to know one another better and the attraction grows and love soon follows. I voluntarily read and reviewed this extraordinary story.

Will they be able to find a way out of her predicament to look toward the same future …

I have read not all but some of The Lyon Den stories, each bringing the many heroes plight into light. But none had so opposite characters.
Jenny must now takes drastic measures, impeded by her sex, she just wants the best for her legacy, and it is not the man her father naively believed to be the right spouse for her.
After the failure of her one and only shortened season three years ago, she has no more time to dawdle, she needs a husband like now, else she might loose everything dear to her.
The man selected by the Lyon Den widow seems perfect on paper, if only he did not come with his friend, the one man who sent her running away all those years ago. A fellow determined to meddle in her life, to make amends he says.
She is walking over burning coals with this man. She intrigued her when she first met him, until he insulted her and sent her packing. Now he appears to play a different game, but what of her heart when he is the total opposite of the ideal groom she is looking for.
Miles made a mistake, at a time he tried to repair his careless words but it was too late, she had left. So now he has a second chance, he won’t let it pass.
What a complex and unsettling character he is, he takes matter in hands but his lofty view of life leads him to be often high handed, lacking the right words or making a muddle of things.
He wants the best for those he cares about but he does not always realize the best is not always the easy path. He hurt Jenny all those years ago, but in trying to apologize now, he can be as tactless as he was on the day of their first encounter. His feelings make him clumsy, awkward with his words.

The author grants us a multilayered tale with a main couple who will have to decide if they are willing to make life altering choices as a future together is the opposite of the easy road.

Jenny has gone for help to get a husband so she is not pressured to marry the guy back home. She actually winds up meeting the best friend of the man who caused her to go home from her season three years ago with embarrassment. Though Frank needs a wife with money he is in love with another. The Duke who caused the problem three years ago is now wanting to make up. Was Jenny's money well spent at the Lyon's Den? In this fun read you will soon see.

Heiress to a fortune, Jenny Hambling needs a husband, before she is made to marry a man she has no wish to marry. The Lyon’s Den is her only option to buy a husband fast. But she runs into the last man she wants to meet, Miles, The Duke of Goldthorpe. He ruined Jenny’s debut three years ago by calling her a Mill Girl. Now he will ruin her bargain with his friend. Thrown together, Jenny and Miles find their attraction as strong as ever. But their lives have moved on, and they find themselves in a new place. Miles is a duke with all the pomp and responsibility that entails. Jenny has an industrial empire to manage in the north. The obstacles seem too great.
Another well written engrossing read, is it a second chance or enemies to lovers? I loved both Jenny who isn’t a stunning blonde or a raven haired beauty or even a fiery red head but a mousy haired hardworking Yorkshire lass. I loved the banter between them & I loved their road to a HEA. I would have loved an epilogue that gave the secondary romance it’s long term HEA
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Lyon Eyes is an enjoyable read. I love this series of Lyon's Den books. Each one is unique in its own way while holding on to the Lyon's Den theme. Lynne Connolly did a great job with this installment. This is the story of Jenny Hambling, a young lady who fled London three years earlier in disgrace due to a heartless comment from the Duke of Goldthorpe. Now she is back and she needs the Widow of Whitehall to find her a husband. Mrs. Dove-Lyon introduces her to Frank who happens to be standing next to Miles, the Duke of Goldthorpe. Miles instantly recognizes her and makes the same heartless comment. But Jenny is not the same person now. I loved the characters. Each character was portrayed so vividly they jumped off the page. I definitely recommend this book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It is amazing how this series keeps going with all the different authors, but I cannot get enough! There are so many questions in my mind about the Black Widow and one day I know we will all find out!

She is determined to find herself a husband and not be forced into an unwanted marriage. She goes to the one place she might find help and that is at the Lyon's Den.

He had been so in love, or at least he had thought so the first time he saw her. But he pushed her away by making a mocking comment.

Now thrown together three years later, he find he really still had feelings for her. But could they get past his title and both of their responsibilities? Another great addition to this series!
