OMG - My heart is still pounding from this fast-paced, action-packed white knuckle thriller. As soon as I started reading I became totally absorbed in all that was happening and there are great twists and turns that are so intriguing and gripping that I couldn't stop reading until I was finished with the book. I loved bad-ass CIA operative Elizabeth Aiken who finds she's on her own and loved her instant attraction and off-the-charts chemistry with Shane "Viper" Quinn, a hunky former operative who wants nothing to do with her. If you enjoy well-crafted romantic suspense, you will love "Crossing Lines" by gifted author Adrienne Giordano who never disappoints whatsoever and is a master of this genre. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Adrienne Giordano is a wonderful author who is able to pull readers in from the first sentence to the last page. The dialogue between characters is fast pace and will keep readers needing more between Shane and Liz. The story moves quickly that will make it impossible to put down the book as readers wonder what the characters are getting into as the book is closed.

Readers will be kept on the edge of their seats as they finish Crossing Lines.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of Crossing Lines.

How do I describe this book? It is exciting, thrilling, full of action. It's crazy!

There is adventure, great characters and even a bit of romance. It really does have it all and it just keeps you reading as it never stops. Twists and turns, danger and intrigue.

Having never read anything by Adrienne Giordano I was pleasantly surprised I liked this as I am not much of a reader of this genre but have recently found some authors that have drawn me in so I look forward to reading more.

Crossing Lines by Adrienne Giordano
The Deep Cover Series #1

Breathtaking nail-biting seat of the pants opening scene that lead to a life or death cat and mouse story of survival. Liz barely survives her undercover operation in Venezuela and is sent to Viper for help…will he tempt fate to help her and potentially blow his own cover in the process or leave Liz hanging in the wind?

What I liked:
* Liz/Faith: strong, independent, survivor, quick on her feet, lethal, capable, adaptable, wants to find out who blew her cover, has chemistry with Shane
* Shane/Bobby/Viper: protective, misses his family, works hard to maintain his new identity, a loner by necessity, lethal, strong, has chemistry with Liz.
* Sully: seems a good guy though Shane doesn’t trust him
* Dusty: a good friend of Vipers and also working to stay incognito
* The setting in Chicago
* The writing, pace, and intensity of the story
* The way Shane and Faith become a team over time
* Thinking about what it must be like to take on new identities for a job of to stay safe
* That Leslie managed to get out of a tricky situation and hopefully find a new life
* Hoping that Leslie’s brother will get out, too
* The cloak and dagger bits and secret hiding place
* That some of the bad guys received their just desserts
* The ending – it made me smile and made me happy

What I didn’t like:
* Knowing that there are corrupt bad guys out there like the ones in this book
* Thinking about the people willing to turn traitor for their own benefit(s)
* Not a total dislike but perhaps a bit of disbelief at the decision Liz made toward the end of the book and wondering how wise or realistic that decision would really have been…that said…this is fiction and perhaps she has some Wonder Woman in her genes ;)

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the author, NetGalley and Book Whisperer for the ARC – this is my honest review.

Remember that old TV show "Burn Notice"? This is a similar set up. We have three operatives, Shane and Dusty have been "burned" and disavowed by the CIA and Trevor, former DEA, has a bounty on his head. They are living in Chicago and have cover lives where they can't contact anyone from their previous life. Another CIA agent, Liz Aiken, has a mission go sideways and she kills the son of the President of Venezuela, a nasty dude who is in with a very nasty drug cartel. No loss to the human race, but a big problem for the CIA.

Liz gets hooked up with these dudes and the fun begins. Loved the setup and the characters. I started to think of Liz as Wonder Woman and her nickname "The Queen of Pivot" was accurate. She was a one woman show for so long, she had no concept of how to work with a team and that almost lead to complete disaster.

When Liz arrives in Chicago, she is beaten, tired and scared for her life. Shane is her contact and he arranges a new life for her, but she still doesn't feel completely safe. Shane has been living a false life for years and to outward appearances, it's a great life. But it is a complete lie and he misses his family desperately. He ran afoul of the President of Venezuela, like Liz, and is in hiding.

When Liz's new cover as Faith is compromised She seeks out Shane again for help in evading the assassin sent to kill her. Shane really wants nothing more to do with this problem, but his warrior/protector nature won't let him abandon her, even if it meas compromising the life he has built. Shane and Liz click on a lot of levels and the passion ignites as they evade the assassin on their trail. Liz decides that she is not going to endanger Shane and his friends and decides to take this cat and mouse game back to the source. Alone. Shane is not about to let her face this alone and he will risk everything he has built to save her and destroy the threat to their lives once and for all.

Dangerous and suspenseful! CROSSING LINES by Adrienne Giordano starts out action packed and held my attention throughout as danger lurked beyond every corner. The character stories were quick to pull me into the story and the danger kept me captivated. I didn’t feel like the story and relationship were fully developed, and the ending felt quite abrupt, but overall I was entertained throughout.

Another great romantic suspense from Adrienne Giordano. She has been a one click author for me for quite awhile. Her characters are multi dimensional and her plots are really good. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. Faith and Shane along with Dusty, Trevor and Sully were all previous CIA or still in and working for the CIA. Faith is being pursued by the bad guys in Venezuela and ends up working with Shane. Lots of twists and turns, but that is what is fun with her stories, and this one was a page turner.

Adrienne Giordano provides us an easy reading, compelling, and fast paced page turner in Crossing Lines.. Her cover blown, CIA Agent Elizabeth seeks help after the death of a drug cartel leader's son. Boy meets girl, mix well, and bake...

A fast-paced romantic suspense thriller. Many surprises and lots of action. Interesting back stories for the couple.

Crossing Lines by Adrienne Giordano is a romantic suspense thriller that takes place in the CIA world. This story is written in third person from the point of view of both the hero and the heroine. It has great well developed characters, a fantastic storyline and a happily ever after.

After her cover is blown in Venezuela and a bounty is placed on her head, CIA operative Liz Aiken seeks out Shane “Viper” Quinn for help creating a new life and identity. The sparks and chemistry between Liz and Shane were instantaneous and when danger comes knocking on her door, Shane will do whatever it takes to protect the woman whose brought light back into his life. But will it be enough? Read it and find out!

I hope this is the start of a new series. The secondary characters were amazing and I would love for them to get their own storIes.

From the opening scene, Elizabeth “Liz” Aiken, a CIA operative, has only one mantra when she knows that death is imminent…not today. She is not dying today! Liz is able to kill and escape from her kidnappers, but what now? Receiving the name of someone who may be able to help her, she must persuade Shane “Viper” Quinn to help her. Shane, a former recon Marine and CIA operative owns The Corner Tap Bar and is being sought by the same assassin. Shane sets her up with a new name, Faith Burgess, and a place to live, but what will she do when she realizes that she has brought danger to his doorstep? With everything she did to remain hidden, how did they find her so quickly? With the help of the few friends that he trusts, will he be able to keep Liz safe or will the attraction between them put them in further jeopardy? Thrilling suspense from the first page to the end. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Killing, even in self-defense, is not always an acceptable activity. When the father of the victim is the president of a South American country, running and anonymity is the only answer. Elizabeth Aiken changed her name and went underground, but a world class assassin is on her trail with a large bounty for her demise. Once made, an operative is no longer useful and the CIA has left her on her own!

Shane Quinn is an ex-CIA operative in basically the same position. He started a business in Chicago and is staying below the radar to survive. He takes a liking to Elizabeth. Her dark eyes captivate this blue-eyed hunk of a man. Yes, he tries to shake her, but desperation keeps her around like a dirty shirt on a camping trip.

The South American dictator knew his son was a psychopathic killer and enjoyed torturing his captives, but is that any reason to kill him? Surely it is only a matter of time before her painful death will be gratifyingly completed.

The author builds a budding romance between Shane and Liz. Thrown together by the desperate need of the young woman and her Sir Galahad, this story is very entertaining and brisk. Can he save her, be her knight in shining armor, and keep her alive?

This well-developed story is very entertaining and will keep you on the edge of your seat–-or sofa. There are no dragging chapters and I feel this author will become one of your favorites as well.

It's been a while since I last read an Adrienne Giordano story. So, I was excited to read an early copy of Crossing Lines. A dramatic story involving a CIA Agent whose been burned and an ex operative whose spent two years living in Chicago under an assumed name after he himself was burned by the agency. And with plenty of edge-of-your-seat moments and romance this really was an enjoyable read. That easily held my attention and I would happily recommend it to others.

It's an intriguing spy novel, I didn´t like it very much because the main characters were in some way superficial, not very reliable, and a little fake. Instead, the second characters were a lot much interesting than the main characters.

At chapter 17, I dropped it, because the main characters didn´t convinced me. I suggest a new tale using the secondary characters of this novel, they were a lot more interesting, for example the spy who disguised herself as a man

Don’t start this book any where near bed time otherwise it will be a sleepless night as you say just one more chapter over and over! A duo of burned operatives set out to take down the president of Venezuela before he can kill both of them. We have Liz/Faith who killed the younger son of the man in charge. Shane/Viper/Bobby who betrayed the president’s oldest son who is now sitting in jail. Trevor and Dusty, two also burned agents and Sully, a current active CIA agent on the case. The only question on Faith and Shane’s minds is who can they actually trust in their quest to take down a corrupt man and save their lives. From Chicago to Alabama to Venezuela Andrienne Giordano takes you on an action filled ride. I can’t wait to see where she goes next!

Adrienne Giordano has outdone herself with Crossing Lines, her latest suspense/thriller/romance release. Ms Giordano is masterful in keeping her audience enthralled and on edge…as the story evolves and the momentum builds you are kept guessing until the final moments.

With an intriguing premise, dynamic characters and rapid fire dialogue the pages could not turn themselves fast enough. In Shane and Faith you have a couple with palpable chemistry, though complete opposites, they complemented each other perfectly…the moments of frustration Shane experienced while trying to rein Faith in were some of the funniest for me. The moments of tenderness between them rounded out the entire story quite nicely.

Regardless of the genre Adrienne Giordano writes in, I’m assured an engrossing story and the perfect escape vehicle. I’ve read all her books, in the variety of genres she’s written in and have found so many that I can say are my favorites…of the plethora of authors I’ve read…Crossing Lines is right up there among the best of them.

Review of Uncorrected Proof

When her cover is blown, CIA operative Elizabeth Aiken barely escapes from Venezuela with her life. Set adrift by the Agency, she reaches out for help and finds it in Shane Quinn, a former operative who has spent years building his own cover while staying away from his family in order to ensure their safety. He doesn’t know Liz, but he steps up to help the woman and, as he grows more and more attracted to her, he finds himself enmeshed in her fight.

Will they survive? Will they find their way to a happily ever after? And will Shane ever manage to duplicate his mother’s brownie recipe?

Non-stop action is the hallmark of this adventure; the characters [and the story] hit the ground running and never ease up on the frantic pace. Shane, Dusty, and Trevor [all aliases since they don’t dare use their real names] worry about the trouble Liz [now known as Faith] may bring since the corrupt Venezuelan president is determined to kill her as he seeks revenge for his son’s death. But Liz/Faith is not afraid of a fight; she has skills to protect herself, she's brave to the point of foolhardiness, and she doesn’t know the meaning of “damsel in distress.” But with their adversaries always one step ahead, this small band travels a dangerous path in search of the freedom to live their lives openly and in peace once again.

The characters are believable; the situation is tense and terrifying. The underlying tension that runs throughout the telling of the tale promises to keep readers on the edge of their seats as the unfolding story puts Shane and Faith in one perilous situation after another. There’s a surprising twist that readers won’t see coming; there’s plenty of excitement guaranteed to keep those pages turning in this difficult-to-set-aside book.

Lots of action in this one. Faith/Liz works for the CIA but, when her cover is blown in Venezuela, she has to find a way out of there to get back to the states. In trying to escape, she kills the son of the president of Venezuela. The son was working with a cartel and would have killed Faith if she hadn't killed him first. She ends up in Chicago asking for help from Shane. Shane and a couple of friends have their own problems, but Shane can't say no to her. Her face has bruises and he knows she has been through hell before coming to him. He helps her all he can, but when a man comes for her, he can't help but wonder if he cover is blown too. The man who is after Faith is also after Shane and his friends. After Shane's life is literally burned to the ground, Faith decides to put an end to it. She has no problem going rogue. Shane isn't about to let that happen. What they can't figure out is how they keep finding them. There has to be someone giving them information, but who? He trusts his friends. They wouldn't betray him, would they?

Liz is the sole survivor of an assignment to take down the President of Venezuela. He's a corrupt dictator, working with the local cartels and reaping the rewards of other people's suffering. When his sleaze son relishes torturing his prisoners, he gets a mighty shock when not only does Liz not cower, she beats his butt! By killing the resident's son wasn't the safest thing she ever did and now she's on the run - hiding even from her own agency!

Relying on one of the few people she trusts, she's put in touch with someone who may be able to help her stay off the radar. After all, he and 2 buddies went through the same thing and are now hiding in plain sight.

Shane, Dusty, and Trevor (their new "civilian names") are a tight crew, even when they are forced never to meet in public. They aren't all exactly happy when Shane agrees to help Liz become "Faith" but one for all and all for one with this team. But the bad guys seem to have amazing intelligence and are always one step behind.

The action whizzes between Chicago, Venezuela and points in between. Liz is no damsel in distress, she'd take down El Presidente in a heartbeat but she's not mended yet and she knows that she can't be a one-woman army. Shane is our grudging hero - he's settled in his new life even though he misses his family but he still can't resist the urge of a good fight.

The romance between Shane and Faith/Liz is suited to the story and these two are used to making snap, instinctual decisions. There are plenty of twists and turns and the action is well paced.

Great story and would love to read more!

This is my second book by this author. I loved the first one. Crossing Lines was just an ok read. For the most part, I enjoyed the story, although I was tempted several times to quit reading. I didn't connect well with the characters or the relationship between them. I found certain behaviors of the heroine to be ridiculous. And maybe that was a problem.
Nevertheless, I intend to read more of her books
