This is a really great book with lovely illustrations to go alongside the story. I read it to my 4 year old son and we both loved it.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for my ARC.

Mia tries to teach Ethan how to use his imagination to have fun when he is bored. Mia makes his bed into a pirate ship; the house into a jungle; and the kitchen into fruit trees. After their adventure, Mom took them to the playground. It taught Ethan that he could have a good time using his imagination while his mom was busy and then get to do what he wanted. At the back of the book, kids are encouraged to draw an animal that they would like to meet in the jungle and share it on the author’s Facebook page.

This book was about Ethan and Mia a brother and sister duo who go on an adventure using their imagination while their Mom is working. It was great to see how Mia encouraged her bother to use his 'superpower" and even when he was struggling to see the fun in what they were doing, she was able to show him. Their adventure takes them to great locations and it's a fun journey until their Mom is done working. Cute message and fun little read. The illustrations comparing the the "real" and the imaginary were great and could add to the dialogue as parents are reading the story to kids.

A children’s story about Mia, who has a vivid imagination and her brother Ethan, who struggles to find his.

While their mom is busy, with Mia’s help, Ethan finds his imagination and has a wonderful day.

This story is cute. The illustrations are very busy. The majority of the story takes place inside Ethan & Mia’s home, but I was disappointed that when other characters appear in the background - they are all white able bodied children. This would have been a great time to show a child in a wheelchair at the park, a family of a different race having fun together… there is no representation in this story for anyone other than a white family who is able bodied.

Adding even background characters that depict different races and abilities makes any child see themselves in a story book - even if it’s not the main characters!

Ethan and Mia feel bored at home as their mom is busy working. Mia helps Ethan go on a make-believe adventure using their imagination. They explore Miracle Island (which is their home), along with the pet dog, Coco.
The book shows how kids can have fun without being outdoors or even using expensive gadgets and toys. All it takes is imagination. Mia is a sweet big sister, nudging her little brother to imagine themselves as pirates and have fun.
The illustrations are bright, colorful, and full of life. I love how mom is the lioness on the island (with a tail and yet sitting on the racing chair and working). The illustrator has artfully mixed the scenes from home with the setting of Thank you, NetGalley and BooksGoSocial, for the ARC.

Ethan and Mia are back with Ethan and Mia’s Miracle Island: Books for Kids! I loved the first book I read when they got their puppy, and I was delighted to see that this book lived up the my expectations! Ethan and Mia, like many kids this past year, are bored and stuck at home with a working parent who can’t play with them. I loved how again they used their amazing imagination to create an adventure right where they are at! This book is perfect your younger elementary aged children!

I believe that this book did a great job with illustrations and the basics of what it was trying to achieve. In a world where everything is so available to our children sometimes they lose their imaginative side. I really enjoyed its simplicity in showing children that they can have fun with just their imagination. My 3 children (ages 10, 7 and 5) also really enjoyed this book. after reading it to them they were ready to start their own adventure together.
