I was excited when I saw the third Shepherd Sisters mystery. I have enjoyed each book so much and I couldn't wait to listen this one! The narrator of the audio book edition does a great job with this series. I love how Savannah and her sisters have such a close relationship and how they come together to help solve each mystery. Their family is so close-knit and supportive of each other during good times and bad, and the family Sunday dinners sound delicious. The descriptive writing makes me feel like I am in Carson and that I am reconnecting with friends. The mystery was well thought out and had many red herrings. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

I received a complimentary copy of this audio book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Still Life and Death is the third book in author Tracy Gardner’s Shepherd Sisters Mystery series. Libby Kent, who owns Libby’s Blooms with her husband Anthony, has worked out a deal with Savanna Shepherd to teach still life art classes in her rooftop greenhouse area using beautiful arrangements furnished by Libby and her assistant, Savanna’s Uncle Max.

When Uncle Max opens the flower shop early one morning he finds a most unpleasant surprise, the lifeless body of Libby. Why would someone use a silencer to take this lovely lady’s life? Was it the rare violet she had been able to grow from seed for the upcoming flower show? Was it something personal? Savanna uses her keen observational skills to help Detective Nick Jordan solve this most unusual crime.

In her personal investigation, Savanna learns of bitter feelings between local businesses, bad feelings toward the fellow dating Libby’s daughter, and, perhaps, angst between spouses. When the culprit feels things are closing in first there is vandalism at the flower shop, then at Savanna’s sister’s dog grooming shop, trying to warn them off.

With a heart pounding last few chapters, Savanna is put at odds with a murderer and the good detective arrives just in time. And this isn’t the only twist in this delightful tale. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!

The Shepherd sisters are so close and I really envy their relationship. Their caring and concern for one another adds a nice balance to the mystery into who killed the florist. While not gruesome, you can't help but feel bad for the sister who was very close to the victim. The mystery itself was not all that interesting to me. I was more fascinated with the work the florist had done with an extinct flower. I also hate when the MC claims to want to help the police but doesn't share all the necessary information and often takes unnecessary risks because they have to do things for themselves. All in all, I enjoyed this and recommend it as a good beach read.

A sweet cozy mystery! I love the family and small town and the sisters most of all. I haven’t read the previous books, so the romances were sometimes hard to figure out, but I still found them moving. The heroine does some really reckless stuff at the end but I appreciate that she listens when she’s told off. An excellent book for a cozy mystery fan! I thought the audiobook narrator did a great job.

Still Life and Death is the third book in Tracy Gardner's Shepherd Sisters Mysteries. I have not read the first two books in the series but I didn't have any trouble with reading it on its own. This is also the first book I've read from Hallmark Publishing.

It has all the hallmarks of a good Hallmark show. The town is cute and the characters are friendly (I want to use words like sunny and bubbly when I think of the characters). Everything is a little too happy and shiny to be realistic but when you want to escape the real world this is exactly where you want to be.

I don't know if it is was because I listened to the audiobook or if it is the mystery, but I wasn't really all that invested in figuring out whodunnit. I much preferred just basking in the friendly small-town vibe where Savanna's boyfriend buys her sailboat for her birthday and Sid's boyfriend makes changes to his career so they can be together. There are no big problems and everything's a bit idyllic (save for the fact that a local business owner has been killed in her shop).

The narrator Karissa Vacker does a great job particularly given the number of female characters in the story. I felt like every character had their own voice.

I'll definitely keep my eye out for more books in the series, especially when I need a little pick-me-up.

My review will be published at Girl Who Reads on Tuesday, August 10 - https://www.girl-who-reads.com/2021/08/a-couple-of-crazy-fun-cozy-mysteries.html

This author was recommended to my by a good friend, and her recommendation has been spot-on. In this, the third book of the Shepherd Sisters series, the characters, setting, and engagement appear to be settling in for a good run. Gardner is especially good at creating investment in characters and their relationships. There are no cookie cutter stock townspeople or interactions, and the new characters in this book are good ones.

The development of the actual mystery and its reveal/culminating scene are less effective. In places the details seemed to be a bit forced or eyeroll worthy. Still, I look forward to returning to the town of Carson and the Shepherd Sisters and their clan very soon.

Audio: I’ve listened to the audio versions of all three books in the series, so that is fair testament to their quality. I will say the narrator has a tendency to be a bit whispery and over-emotes, especially at the beginning of the book. Overall, though, she does a solid job.

Thank you to Tracy Gardner (author), Karissa Vacker (narrator), Hallmark Publishing, and NetGalley for an Advance Reader/Listener Copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series!! This is the third installment and I read all 3 over 2 days, I want more already. I listened to the audio version, the narrator is beyond perfect!! The narrator’s voice reminds me of Jess from Chesapeake Shores and I can’t imagine a better narrator for this sweet series. I’ve actually added her to my list of narrators to look for because I love her voice so much. I would love to see this made into a Hallmark show series, I can already picture the Shepherd Sisters!

A lighthearted fun (except for the whole murder thing!) mystery with a terrific cast of characters. It is the last in the trilogy and though I haven’t read (or listened) to the first two in the series I still enjoyed the story and didn’t feel lost at all. I will now go back to the others as I enjoyed this one a lot. Its a quick enjoyable listen and would make a fabulous movie on one of the Hallmark channels. Enjoy the getaway to this lovely small town filled with incredibly nosy, but mostly nice people. Just stay away from the dance studio!

Still Life and and Death by Tracy Gardner

This is the third book in the series, this is the first one I’ve read, it works perfectly as a standalone.

The book takes place along the beautiful Lake Michigan in MI. Such a beautiful setting! I’m from WI and live very close to the lake so I was excited to hear the setting as I agree it is completely breathtaking.

Savanna, Sydney and Skylar are three sweet sisters. Savanna recently moved back home from the big city. She teaches art at the local elementary school and adult painting classes at Libby’s Blooms. Sydney runs a pet grooming business and Skylar is a lawyer. The sisters are really close!

Libby is found dead at her florist shop Libby’s Blooms by the sister’s Uncle Max. He becomes the first suspect! Savana first gets involved to help clear his name. Once he is cleared as a suspect, Savanna is still determined to figure out who killed Libby. The floral shop had financial issues and issues with the owner of the dance studio next door.

It’s a warm and cozy mystery. Mystery and some romance involving Savanna and Sydney who are dating brothers. Very likable characters. The narrator did a great job telling the store. I was interested the entire time!!

Thank you Tracy Gardner, Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for the audio to listen to this book in return for my honest review!

Audiobook: the narrator did a great job with the pacing of the story, the characters and the emotional impact of the events.
I love the Shepherd sisters, Savannah, Sydney and Skylar. They make a great team in solving mysteries. Each come at the problem from different angles. Savannah is the most active in looking into the mysteries that come to Carson.
The story is about the murder of the local flower shop owner but much of the book is about the relationships of the characters, the family bonds and the romances between Savannah and Aidan and Sydney and Finn.
The local detective is very patient with Savannah. It’s interesting to have a series where the police work with civilians.
I enjoyed how the story progressed until The climax when Savannah takes some rather stupid actions in relation to catching the perpetrator. I understand her hasty decision making in the moment but it didn’t stop me yelling at the book.
Overall, I recommend this mystery.

I love the Shepherd Sisters Mysteries by Tracy Gardner and have read all three. The relationships between the 3 sisters is wonderful and with their families and boyfriends as well. It makes an enjoyable series even more enjoyable. I was lucky enough to get the audiobook from NetGalley and it is fantastic!! The narrator is amazing and does an excellent job with the various voices of the characters. It really brings to life the characters and the story. I am sad this is the final book in the series, but I love the ending.
Savanna is an art teacher at the local elementary school, her sister Sydney owns a pet store and grooming business, and the older sister, Skylar is a lawyer and is married with kids. Their Uncle Max works at Libby's Bllooms flower shop where Savanna teaches a class in the evenings. Uncle Max finds a dead body in the flower shop early one morning and becomes a suspect. Savanna and her sisters work together along with their family and boyfriends to clear his name. Savanna's boyfriend is Dr. Aidan Gallagher and Sydney's boyfriend is Aiden's brother Finn, who is a medical transport pilot. This is a wonderful cozy mystery and the whole series is a must read! #NetGalley #StillLifeAndDeath #TracyGardner

Savanna is thrilled when her uncles move in to town. The grade school teacher does an adult ed class at Libby’s Blooms, where her uncle Max takes a job. It’s all fun and games until Max finds a body in the greenhouse. Savanna, along with sisters Skylar and Sydney set out to solve the crime, all the while navigating life and love in a small town. This is a typical Hallmark production, guaranteed to produce a smile on even the worst day
