Loved the first book but am always a bit skeptical about the second in a series. A bit of "sophomore-slump" fear, I guess...this I am so thrilled to say had none of that. We established Kit's world in the first book and we are off and running in this second installment. Swift & Savage Tide is as much a roller coaster ride as the first book and equally hard to put down. We got more backstory this round and a bit more romance which is always good. This series did not appeal to me initially, but love Chloe Neill so had to give it a go. So glad I did!!

I loved the first book in this series and am happy to be able to say the same about this second book. Kit is an excellent Captain who treats her crew well and uses her powerful "gifts" wisely. As one of the Queen's Own Guards, her allegiance is unwavering to country and crew. The only man Kit feels may be a match for her is Colonel Rian Grant. They have worked well together in the past and are once again fighting a common enemy. Their romance grows slowly as there are always pressing matters to attend to at sea. I couldn't put this book down once I started it. The dialogue, humor, and swashbuckling action are excellent. I can't wait until the next book in this series!

Chloe Neill delivers with A Swift and Savage Tide. It reads quickly and I have found that I enjoy this series more with each book.

Terrific second installment of this fabulous series! While I loved the action-packed first book, I think the slower pace of this one lends itself well to the romance and the larger questions Kit is beginning to ask herself about Alignment powers. I love the humor; the comedic timing is always on point. The romantic tension between Kit and Grant is aggravatingly perfect.

As always, I love that Kit is the ultimate "strong" woman. She wields her power (both magical and mortal) with calm confidence and experience. She has self-doubts, sure, but I love that she isn't totally weakened by them. Without a doubt, she's one of my favorite female heroines and I can't wait to read the next one.

I love Chloe Neill's books! This book was so much fun. I just wish it would've been longer. The ending was a little abrupt and didn't answer all the questions that I had. Can't wait for more.
