Loved this one! A fun, easy rom com set in NYC...what more could one want?! Charming characters, a great storyline, and a wonderful setting. I was sad when this ended, and I definitely recommend!

Thanks to the publisher for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

This opening meet cute made me laugh out loud! It was one of the funniest meet-cutes I've read in awhile. Poor Franny is having one hell of a bad day. She's been laid off and as she struggles to get home with her belongings on the packed NYC subway, the train doors close.... on her dress. What's a girl to do with her hands full and her dress falling off, about to reveal all on a packed train? Enter Hayes Montgomery - a handsome, well dressed stranger who happens to be standing nearby who comes to her rescue with his Gucci suit jacket before he gets off on the next stop. Swoon!

Of course this is NY and one of Franny's many onlookers recorded her mortifying but seemingly romantic meet cute moment and shares it to social media where it blows up. Suddenly, all of NY is shipping the #subwayQTs romance.

This was a sweet, slow burn, closed door romance that had lots of potential. I enjoyed it but didn't love it as much as I hoped after I was so smitten by the opening chapter. Things definitely felt repetitive in the middle. I also wasn't a fan of the third act breakup. I did absolutely love how NY came to life in this book and how we explore it along with the characters. Curious to see what Kate Spencer writes next.

After their first (and disastrous) meeting goes viral, Franny and Hayes keep running into each other all over New York City.

I liked this, but it was borderline cheesy. Maybe I'm just not a big city girl, but Franny's subway experience felt a little too unbelievable - and that set the tone for the rest of the book. If you want a predictable romance though, this is your book.

I read In A New York Minute by Kate Spencer at the exact perfect time. Sometimes you just really need a rom com. Also, thankfully I wasn't binge reading rom coms one right after the other, otherwise maybe my opinion would be different. However, I enjoyed In A New York Minute so much. This book is about Franny who has just been laid off. On her way home on the subway her dress gets caught in the door and rips, exposing her backside to the world. However, she is saved from further humiliation by a handsome stranger who gives her his jacket - Hayes Montgomery the Third. She leaves with his jacket. The moment goes viral in the style of PlaneBae, if you all remember? So, Franny doesn't expect to ever run into Hayes again, yet NYC is the biggest small town in the world, right. So, they keep running into each other. As it turns out, there is a spark between Franny and Hayes.

In A New York Minute is so cute. It also made me want to watch Moonstruck for the first time, as this book shouts that movie out. I also loved Franny's story about connecting with a sister she never knew she had. And her friends are amazing and so good to her. I loved reading about Hayes and his company which focuses on environmental investing, so to speak. Franny's job is interesting too - she's an interior designer. Oh and the chemistry between Franny and Hayes really worked for me. I really felt this was such a nice, calming read.

A romcom about a guy and girl who meet and they turn into a viral sensation. Franny and Hayes were super cute. I also loved LOVED the friendships/bonds they had with Cleo, Lola, Perrine and Eleanor. I finished it in a day! 4/5 ⭐️

I loved the premise and the way the characters meet. The setting was also amazing with the magic of NYC but I felt like the characters weren't fully fleshed out. Don't get me wrong, they're amazing and relatable, but not completely. I just felt like something was missing. But definitely an author to watch out for.

I really enjoyed this one. Everything from the struggle, the denying of feelings, the characters flaws and the New York city back drop. This book gives the reader a little of everything, and it was so worth it. Franny and Hayes were just such a great pair and I loved learning about them, and watching their lives unfold. It's the HEA I needed at the right time.

Oh goodness did I like this book!! I loved Franny and Hayes. Their relationship seemed so real and genuine and the quirks were amazing. The three friends were fantastic back up characters. New York City is the best setting!!

I started this book and found that I really could not connect with it. I feel like it may have been one of those “right book wrong time” situations where it wasn’t what I needed, but I chose to put it down. Therefore, I cannot give a true star rating.

I enjoyed this book. It was a fun light hearted read that was a quick read for me.

Franny and Hayes were fun characters but I what I really connected to where Franny’s relationship with her friends. That’s felt more real to me than the main relationship in the book and those scenes were the ones I loved the most.

My other favorite part of this book was the fact it was clearly a love letter to NY and as someone who loves the city and hasn’t been able to visit in a long time it was lovely reading those parts of the book and getting a sense of being there.

The main relationship between Hayes and Franny was a little too slow burn and not quite steamy enough for me but I would still recommend it for someone looking for a fun, light read.

Strangers on a train! In one of the best meet-cutes ever, Hayes Montgomery literally offers Franny Doyle the coat off his back when her dress is ripped apart after getting caught in a subway train door. Thanks to a series of Instagram posts that go viral and serendipitous run-ins, they slowly get to know each other and like what they see. This is a case of opposites attract, but, like all good romances, the protagonists bring out the best in each other. Franny has just been laid off from her job at a design firm and is thinking of starting her own company. Hayes and his business partner Eleanor are moving offices and are in need of an interior designer. Working together is a win-win situation, but will the budding relationship last once the job is done?

Franny’s character is well-developed, including her relationship with her family and friends and life circumstances that help explain her personality , but Hayes is a bit of a mystery. It would help if Spencer had given us some sense of his background beyond his short-lived marriage, why he’s so awkward, and whether he has any friends beyond Eleanor and his cousin Perrine. This is relatively low angst, communication between the two is easy and honest, and sex scenes are mild. There are both queer and BIPOC characters, and the New York City locales are used to good advantage. Overall, this is a very fun, sweet romance that would appeal to fans of Kate Clayborn, Katherine Center, and Lauren Layne.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from Forever Publishing through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Full disclosure that I have been a devout fan of Kate Spencer's Forever35 podcast for years, so I was delighted to get my hands on a copy of her rom-com In a New York Minute, which is as lovely as a new serum (IYKYK).

This tale of Franny Doyle and her quasi-nemesis Hayes Montgomery III is perfect for fans of Jasmine Guillory and Christina Lauren.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

Franny Hayes is having the worst day of her life when the kindness of a (hot) stranger is captured and uploaded to social media, resulting in a first fabricated and then eventually real relationship. Opposites attract and then keep bumping into each other, with Hayes eventually hiring Franny to do some design work for him

Early reviews have compared this to Nora Ephron’s stories and it checks a lot of boxes: meet cute, resistance then friendship, snappy writing, NYC setting. In a New York Minute is a solid, pitch-perfect, perfectly paced tale and very satisfying romantic comedy with a great happily ever after.

I received a free advance reader’s review copy of #InANewYorkMinute from #NetGalley.

This was such a cute romcom! I loved the NYC setting and how this was such a chance encounter. I also loved the witty banter back and forth between both Hayes and Franny. I found that I kept rooting for the two of them to get together and it really frustrated me that Franny kept looking for a reason to not be with Hayes. Sometimes I felt that the back and forth got to be a little much, but overall I really enjoyed this book! I look forward to reading more by Kate Spencer in the future!

Thank you Forever and Hachette Audio for my gifted copies of In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer.

I listened to this in one day. I could not stop listening. This RomCom gave me all the feels I needed from the first moment to the last. Franny and Hayes meet on a subway and become the famous "subway couple" due to social media sharing how Hayes helped Franny avoid an even more embarrassing moment in public. This is a slow-burn; opposites attract romance as Franny and Hayes keep crossing paths during spontaneous and forced situations. There were multiple hilarious and sweet moments throughout the book. Overall, I highly recommend reading In a New York Minute if you need a great romance.

The narrators did a great job! I will seek out other books they narrate. (less)

I truly enjoyed In a New York Minute. I absolutely love meet cutes and Franny and Hayes did not disappoint. I loved seeing how their friendship developed before the romance. The second half seemed to be a little slower but overall it was a cute romance with great characters!

Thanks so much to Netgalley and Forever Publishing for the ARC!

I absolutely adored this book. It was a quintessential rom-com and a love letter to New York City all wrapped up into one. Franny Doyle has just been fired from a interior design start up and she just wants to be home when her dress gets caught in a subway door and splits open. In comes Hayes Montgomery lll to the rescue with his Gucci coat (which literally saves her ass). Little did they know the whole thing was recorded and shared on social networks and they’ve been marked as #SubwayQTs. For fans of Sophie Cousens and Jasmine Guillory.

Franny Doyle is having the worst day. She’s been laid off from her job and the subway doors ripped her favorite silk dress. On the plus side, a dashing stranger (Hayes Montgomery III) came to her rescue with his suit jacket, but he can’t get away from her fast enough. She’s fanciful, talkative, and creative. He’s serious, shy, and all about numbers. Luckily, living in Mew York means they never have to meet again. Yet somehow, Hayes and Franny keep running into each other.

There is an instant connection between Franny and Hayes the first time they meet, and even after some awkward encounters, they still find a way to be around each other. Hayes hires Franny to help decorate his new office space and their friends plot to get them together. I loved the easy banter between Franny and Hayes, along with the friendships they each had. This is a feel good romance book with one cheesy moments (that I adored)!

I rate this book as 4 🌟!

I'd like to say a huge thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

In A New York Minute is one of my favorite books this year! It's wholesome, fun, charming, and reminds me of good old-fashioned rom-coms, except there's social media involved. I went into it with pretty high expectations and it not only met them, but exceeded them as well. When Franny Doyle heads home after being laid off, the last thing she expects is to have the subway doors rip her silk dress completely and then to be saved by a handsome stranger (later known as Hayes Montgomery III) who graciously gives her his Gucci (!) suit jacket and immediately walks away after. But to add insult to injury, a video of their (not-so) meet-cute is posted online and goes viral. Suddenly all of New York is shipping them and Franny and Hayes could not be more ill-suited for one another. Or.. so they thought. I love a good opposites-attract romance and Kate Spencer portrayed this perfectly. I was thoroughly invested as Franny and Hayes went from very awkward, to finding they enjoy each other's company, and slowly making their way to the part that made me swoon and smile. But the book doesn't just focus on romance. Franny's group of best friends is just as wonderfully portrayed. They're so present as Franny deals with the ups-and-downs of this new thing with Hayes, and more. It's also very much about how they are each finding their footing as individuals and what they want to do next. This was just an all-around amazing book and I cannot recommend it enough.
