SO CUTE! Such a fun NYC romance to get me in the summer-in-NYC mood. I loved getting both Franny's and Hayes' perspectives and recognizing landmarks

I <3 subway QTs

I thought this was very cute.
The way they meet- Franny's dress gets ripped in the subway doors and Hayes lends her his jacket, which leads to this being filmed and going viral.

I had to laugh because I once had ripped my pants while out dancing and I can surely say how embarrassing that was!

Hayes is so awkward and I just felt for him. I always get tongue tied around people. I did like how Franny slowly, somehow, got him to start saying what he means a bit.

As much as Franny Anna Hayes falling in love was cute, I really adored the friendship and Hayes, his cousin Perrine, and his coworker Eleanor and also the friendship of Franny, Cleo and Lola! They were what really made me love this book and all the stuff about New York in here, I can see why a lot love that city.

This was fun, quick read. Perfect for summer and anyone who misses NYC. Some of the writing was cliche, but I'll excuse it in the name of fun.

I loved the two alternating perspectives (his and hers) as well as the initial meet cute, but I missed the butterflies and angst that I often reach for rom-coms for.

What a cute contemporary love story!

I thought IN A NEW YORK MINUTE was such a sweet, fun, lighthearted debut and just what I was craving, and I loved the alluring setting of NYC as the backdrop.

What started as a subway meet cute that ends with a HEA, the chemistry between love interests Franny and Hayes was so good and had plenty of fun banter between them that had me laughing.

If you are a fan of the film Serendipity this is a must read. Franny and Hayes are far less perfect than the main characters in that film, but it makes their story all the more authentic. If you too get tongue-tied around the cute boy, you will easily relate.

Franny is having the worst day—she loses her job and then has a mortifying wardrobe malfunction on the subway. A handsome stranger lends a helping hand by giving her his jacket to cover up her ripped dress. And, of course, it's all caught on video and goes viral on social media. As luck would have it, the two meet up again, but could these two opposites possibly have a connection? This funny, lighthearted romance is a perfect summer read.

This was a very sweet read, overflowing with love and awe for the city of New York. I appreciated all the New York rom-com moments, although the romance honestly left me wanting more.

In A New York Minute reminded me of the romcom movies of the 80s and 90s. It’s a love letter to NYC and the process of falling in love. While I enjoyed this as a book, I can envision it as a movie - it just has that feel.

It has one of the best meet cutes on what is arguably the worst day of Franny’s life. The banter was fantastic, and Franny and Hayes first date is the stuff of romcom perfection.

But be warned. This is a slow burn romance that gives us the kisses but fades to black on anything more than that. But given that this felt like rom com movie of my youth, it worked for me. And now I feel the need to rewatch Serendipity or When Harry Met Sally.

I am a big fan of the romantic comedy genre, but this one just didn't do it for me. Because the market is so saturated, these types of books have to be particularly smart or clever to stand out, and "In A New York Minute" was neither of these things. I was 75 pages from the end and it seemed like the whole story had been told.

This was so charming! I waited a bit to read this one since I wanted to savor it and it was just as cute as I was hoping.

Kate Spencer's fiction debut is a true love letter to New York City. Right off the bat we meet Franny Doyle on pretty much the worst day of her life: she's laid off from her job when she's been expecting a promotion, her dress gets caught in the subway doors and she almost moons everyone on their morning commute, and on top of it all, the awkward interaction she has with a very hot man in a suit who gives her his jacket goes viral online as strangers think they're witnessing a love story. But #subwayQTs couldn't be further from the truth!

Recently divorced Hayes Montgomery (the Third!) is in the middle of trying to expand his successful business when things keep going wrong. While he's normally very proper and buttoned up, his impulsive and chivalrous side comes out one morning on the subway when the girl he couldn't take his eyes off of needs a hand. He never expected her to flip his entire life upside down and wind up on the local news! Through a series of bumping into each other all over the city, the two seem to be drawn to each other and might just be able to help one another out when they're caught in a few sticky situations. What they don't expect is to fall in love with the person who is such a polar opposite in every way.

I'm a sucker for a good meet cute and this one is just as good as it gets! While I really enjoyed this closed-door romance, something was nagging me about wanting them to just BE TOGETHER already when they so obviously wanted to and kept sabotaging their chances. And while I'm always here for a slow-burn, I wanted to bask in the joy of these two being together just a bit more. It's a great story with some fantastic side characters that also veers off into a few other topics I wish were given more attention (a DNA test kit will always bring surprises!), but I just wish we'd had a little more time to savor the joy. Overall, solid 4 stars!

This book was adorable! It is perfect for fans of rom-com movies and is a love letter to New York. I found it to be a very quick read. I didn’t connect super strongly to the main couple but I still enjoyed it a lot.

I was intrigued by the promised themes of inaccurate social media narratives and the specifics of the slow-burn relationship, but disappointed with how the author unfolded the story.

This was such a fun book! I kept seeing it compared to Nora Ephron romcoms and that was really so spot on. It definitely had some You've Got Mail vibes!

Franny is such a great character. To see her from her worst day to figuring out herself and what she wants and learning about her family and herself is so great. I loved her friend group and honestly want one just like it. She's such a great character and it was so good to see her life.

Hayes is also such a good character. On the surface he is so different from Franny and it's so much fun to watch him open up and relax and really let his true self show. It's also interesting to see a male character who is still smarting from a divorce and trying to protect himself. I don't feel like we see that often and it is a really great perspective.

Franny and Hayes are so great together, whether it's being incredibly awkward, disliking each other, or falling for each other, they're just so much fun to watch.

After an unfortunate meeting on a subway and the subsequent viral video that follows, Hayes and Franny keep finding themselves in each other's company. It's unfortunate, too, because they really don't seem to like each other. But when Hayes' company is in a bind, Franny is able to help out, which is beneficial to both of them. And while working together means they're spending even more time together, they both start to realize they don't mind the other's company. A fun romance that isn't graphic.

I really tried to get into this but after Franny told that lie about starting her own business I was really annoyed. I’m not a fan of lying in books because it always ends up turning into miscommunication and that is not my jam.

Franny and Hayes have the most perfect "meet cute" that goes viral but instead of immediately falling in love, they part ways until a televised appearance brings them back together and makes things awkward. They seem to be complete opposites never destined for romance yet New York City continues to bring them together in unexpected ways.

I enjoyed this cute story and the character development in both Franny and Hayes; they were both flawed, introspective and complex. It wasn't hard to agree with their compatibility but at times, the reasons for them not being together were not entirely believable and seemed to only exist to keep the "will they, won't they" storyline going. Despite the romance being the focal point of the story, my favorite "character" was the city itself. Kate Spencer must be a city dweller based on the descriptions and details. She accurately captured the magic and hardship of living in the city and it was enjoyable to read.

Overall, "In a New York Minute" is a cute, modern "meet cute gone wrong" romance with lovable characters who can't seem to stay away from each other in a city that continues bringing them together. I enjoyed it and finished in just a few days - pick it up for a quick fun read that will make you smile.

I enjoyed the unconventional and let’s be honest, embarrassing way Franny and Hayes met. This rom com was full of humor tied in with some real issues that really made it realistic. Their embarrassing interaction goes viral and as they keep being brought into each other’s space things developed from there. I thought this story was cute and light hearted but the only thing missing for me is that I wish we got more of Hayes background like Franny, it seems like there was something to explore there.

This book in 3 words: Enjoyable. Sweet. Flirty.

Franny starts her day with being laid off and exposing herself, accidentally, on the subway, while someone recorded/posted her disaster on social media. Hayes, trying to shield her from more embarrassment, offers her his jacket, and a viral sensation ensues.

Here's what I LOVED:

1. The opening of this story was so well-thought out (and executed) I was head over heels 10 pages in. This story has such a stellar meet-cute and I'll die on this hill.

2. I've only been to New York once, but this book had such strong setting elements, I felt like I'd been there over and over again. I also immediately want to plan a trip ASAP. A book that makes you want to go places, experience things in the pages, is what I call a success.

3. Hayes. 100% Hayes. Team Hayes. I wish we would've gotten a little more about him (we get quite a bit from Franny).

I think this is a perfect beach, vacation, palette cleansing read. I did receive an early copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
