An NYC subway meet cute—or meet disaster—starts off this fun, inclusive romcom. This dual POV is a lighthearted read that just gives the warm fuzzies. I do think it was a little too touristy-NYC instead of local-NYC but not enough for it to take away from the story!

I enjoyed this cute read set in NYC! I loved the subway meet-cute and how their story progressed from there. As far as romance novels go, I don’t think there was anything inherently special or stand-out about this book, but it was still a fun read.

What a sweet, lighthearted read this was! As others have mentioned, Franny's relationship with her two best friends was a favorite part of the book. I also just all around enjoy books set in NYC. And Franny's Brooklyn home, gah, idyllic! I want to be there! Definitely for any fan of rom coms specifically ones with nearly no steaminess. I really enjoyed it.

Kate Spencer managed to bring in the perspective of both protagonists, Franny and Hayes. We get to know the inner workings of both characters humanizing them both, exploring their complexities, and endearing them to the reader. Kate also brings in a third character, New York City! Her love for the city shines through and from someone who has never been, I feel like I got a glimpse of what it is like to walk the streets there.

This is a super quick read. It is a perfect beach or vacation read! It’s funny, flirty, very Romcom. I didn’t want to put it now and had me laughing and smiling ear to ear.

It’s starts with a very bad day for our h, Franny, which just gets progressively worse, where she is helped by stranger.

The story follows different run ins with the two MCs and how their lives keep connecting.

I really enjoyed reading this one and I would definitely recommend it!

Three cheers for Kate Spencer! This is a charming and warm love story that is about so much more than just the couple at the center. I love that this book is really about relationships and Kate does an incredible job fully realizing all of them! We have the love between parents and children, family members, friendships and multiple romantic relationships. And, of course, we have Franny learning to love and cheer for herself. This book is like one big happy sigh. While this will definitely be in beach bags around the world next summer, it was also a great read for the holiday season.

Okay, so this book was SO stinking cute.

First off, thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for this honest review! I loved, loved, loved this book. I will say, at first, I wasn't quite digging the male lead, Hayes. He seemed so cold and standoffish, and somewhat lacking in the sense of humor department, which for me, are all big no-nos- not just in a fictional male character, but just in general. (When a woman is being affable and funny, you do not just stare at her in stony silence or simply ignore her. That is not okay!!) But, turns out, that wound up being exactly what I love most about this book. From beginning to end, the reader is able to watch Franny and Hayes relationship grow in such a lovely, organic way- from their first, awkward and memorable meet-cute, to spending time as friends and getting to know each other, and ultimately (spoiler alert) getting together. From a reader's perspective, I can understand the frustration in reading this (their relationship is truly the slowwwwwest of burns) but it was refreshing to watch two bumbling, awkward and adorkable characters fluster their way into a romantic relationship. It just seemed so natural and relatable, and so gosh darn cute. .

I also love that this book served as the perfect love letter to New York City. Just the writing overall, from the NYC setting to the characters' perspectives and dialogue, is so gorgeously detailed, and gave me warm. fuzzy feelings all over. The banter between the two leads is adorable, and the supporting cast of friends are such a delight. I can't believe this is Kate Spencer's first fiction book! I sincerely hope that she will follow up this gem of a novel with plenty more stories, and soon! (I mean... No pressure or anything.) I will definitely be recommending this book to all my reader friends.

An adorable meet-cute between a frazzled out-of-work designer and a straight-laced investment banker leads to several forced encounters that grow into a delightful happy ever after.
This book is an adorable read set in the lightning fast pace of NYC!

This was a really cute read! I enjoyed following Franny as a protagonist as a sort of down-on-her luck character at the beginning of the story. After being let go at her job and her dress tearing straight down the back on a crowded subway, Hayes comes to her rescue and lends her his jacket. I thought their meet-cute was very sweet and was excited to see where their relationship would go.

I loved watching Franny's character arc unfold, and how she ultimately finds what she wants to do and what will make her happy and satisfied in her career. It was great seeing how she grew and became confident in herself and her skills as a designer. Overall, this was a cute, fun, fluffy read!

In a New York Minute is such a sweet, feel-good romcom. Franny and Hayes are adorable, and despite being very different, are great matches for each other. I enjoyed the dual point of view, and appreciated being in both of their heads and understanding both of their feelings. My only criticism is that they took so long to not only speak their feelings, despite them being there immediately. I cannot wait to read more by this author!

In a New York Minute was fantastic! It reminded me right away of a show I watch with my daughter called The Bold Type. Franny is such a fun relatable character after being unexpectedly laid off from her job she lands up getting on the Subway and having an accident which sets her up for the perfect meet cute or does it?
Her and her rescuer Hayes turn out to be all over the internet and there encounter is completely blown out of proportion.
It was fun watching them meet up in all sorts of ways after the incident and I don’t want to give to much away but it was absolutely adorable! There is so much great background on both characters than meets the eye and her great group of girlfriends were absolute perfection. I cannot say enough great things. I feel so honored and blessed to have had the opportunity to read this book before it release. It definitely took my mind off of some difficult things I have been going through at the moment. This would make an amazing movie! I am definitely Kate Spencer’s newest fan and will be anxiously awaiting her next book and to the wonderful team at Grand Central Publishing/Read Forever you all are rockstars! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

This book is very much in the vein of adorable rom-com meets awkward meet-cute movies, told from dual perspectives - Franny was just laid off from her mediocre job and in a cringe-worthy disaster, her day goes from bad to worse when her entire dress rips down the back on the subway ride home. Hayes, a handsome stranger comes to Franny's rescue by offering his jacket. There's an awkward spark between the two that keeps the reader - and the main characters - guessing if, when and how they will see each other again. The answer is very soon, as Franny's subway disaster has gone viral on Instagram - leading readers on an opposites-attract journey, highlighted by various random chance encounters through the backdrop of New York City.

Overall, the story is sweet, funny and charming. The beginning was a bit slow for me - I was not fully engaged until about 50% in - and I had trouble connecting to the characters and their ensemble of female friends (there are multiple friends and family members, which is a lot of names and personalities to keep track of - I'm still not sure if I can discern the difference between Franny's friends Cleo and Lola!)

I am a huge fan of the author, Kate Spencer, from her Forever35 podcast and could not wait to get my hands on this book. Thank you to NetGalley & ForeverGrandCentralPublishing for the chance to preview this book prior to its upcoming March 22 publication date.

You ever have a really bad day? Well, imagine it's captured for the world to see.

After Franny is fired from her job, she has a bit of an accident on the subway and everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Luckily, Hayes is there to save the day and the entire encounter is recorded and posted online. The video of Franny and Hayes goes viral and they're asked to appear on TV together, which is just as awkward as you can imagine. The world thinks they're in love, but they're still complete strangers! That is until fate steps in and they keep running into each other.

I had so much fun reading this book and getting to know Franny and Hayes. I loved the dual POVs, so I was really able to connect with the characters and understand them. Franny is trying to find her way in this world and expressing her personality through her work. Hayes is adorably awkward and hides behind his seriousness as a way to protect himself. Seeing how these two come together and help each other grow and express themselves was beautiful.

If you're looking for a sweet, light-hearted rom com based in NY, then you will absolutely love this book! FYI for my spicy lovers, it is fade to black, but I found myself not minding the lack of steam because it was just so darn cute!

Thank you NetGalley for providing a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Love love love, love love love this sweet book! The protagonists were so relatable, the social media was so well executed, and I loved how the perspective switched between the main characters. I can't wait to book talk this with my rom-com lovers!

Basic plot: Franny Doyle is having an awful day. Not only does she get laid off from her mediocre job, but has an incident in the subway that leaves her in need of assistance from a stranger. Thank goodness stoic Hayes Montgomery the Third was there to lend a helping (Gucci) jacket!

Rating: 5/5

What I enjoyed the most: I very much enjoyed diving into the characters Ms Spencer wrote. I liked how the subcharacters were described and could be pictured perfectly in my minds eye. I could easily understand the connection between the trio of ladies and the bond between Hayes and his cousin and him and his “work wife”.

What was uncomfortable: this book touches on figuring out oneself, but I found it to be glazed over and very quick. Through the course of the book, we learn there is additional biological history to be discovered. As an adopted person, this felt very strange since Franny grew up with 50% of her biological family. I had a hard time understanding why Franny did not connect that some of her nature came from her fathers side.

Thank you to NetGalley for granting me permission for an advanced copy of this great book!

Be sure to pick up your copy when it becomes available in 2022!

Franny is having a total crapshoot of a day. She thinks she's getting a promotion, but actually gets let go. And if that isn't bad enough - her favorite dress rips right down her back on the subway. But as luck has it a kind stranger offers his jacket. The two have a connection, but think they'll never see each other again. Except...as fate would have it - they're an internet sensation and go viral on Instagram! When they finally meet - will that chemistry still be present or are they better off as strangers?

The meet cute in In A New York Minute was so cute! I was immediately sucked into the storyline between Hayes and Franny. These two were so opposite, and yet they hit it off in a busy subway in New York. The lead up to them finally meeting again was so much fun. I loved the friendship between Franny, Cleo and Lola! Their text messages, impromptu meetings and how they were always there for one another was such a wonderful part of the book.

I do feel like the second half of the book was a little bit slower moving than the first half. I did enjoy the slow progression of friends to lovers between Franny and Hayes. Their friendship felt true and the way they showed little bits and pieces of themselves to one another was so charming.

If you're looking for a sweet romance with a group of friends at its core - grab your copy of In A New York Minute when it releases!

I really liked the premise of this book and the characters and storyline were both very cute. At times I thought the writing got a little long and difficult to follow especially when back stories were given in thought while a conversation was happening at the same time. Overall, I would recommend this book as the meet cute was sweet and there is a happy ever after for more than one character.

I'm a small town girl through and through, but it was so much fun to live in the big city vicariously through Franny! In a New York Minute is one of the funniest and most tender romances I have read in a long while. It also has one of the best character meetings ever! Franny and Hayes are both authentically written characters and were an absolute delight to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for access to this arc.

Super fun story of Franny and Hayes. I didn’t want the story to end! Just enough detail of NYC setting without it being overwhelming. Great supporting characters and a feel-good ending. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed In a New York Minute! It was a very easy and quick read! Both Hayes and Franny are lovable characters. I really liked the awkwardness of Hayes but could picture how dreamy he looked. Franny seems like an amazing, independent woman! I liked the little touch of Italy but wished we could have read about their trip as well ;).
