First, I have to apologize for the lateness of this review. I'm just now emerging from the Covid hibernation. This was a great book. This book focuses more on Jesse Mercado than on Kendra Michaels as was the case on earlier books in this series. Killer View opened a whole new series of characters and I can't wait to see the next one.

This is a solo debut by author Roy Johansen in the legendary Kendra Michaels series that he has co-authored with his mother Iris Johansen.  Jessie Mercado who has assisted Kendra and friends in other stories holds the starring role here when Kendra passes her a case and asks her to run with it.  Run, she certainly does as she follows the twists and curves leaving dead bodies in her wake. While it can be read as a standalone, it's an exciting addition to the Kendra Michael's series.
An incarceration consultant was a new one to me too. Who would have thought that there could be money in helping rich criminals prepare for prison if and when that happens? Jessie is tasked with finding the missing partner in the firm who seems to have vanished into thin air. Everything might not be on the up and up with her new client because he's definitely not sharing all the facts with Jessie as she plunges into the details of the client list and chasing down clues.
One of Jessie's cohorts in her case is an A list actor who is in love with Jessie and his set of bodyguards. Brice is determined to offer Jessie protection as well as use his name to open doors for her when needed as the story moves all over the Los Angeles area. Kendra also comes in for a cameo appearance to help Jessie dive in deeper below the surface.
A great story, just the way I like it with a touch of romance, some laughter, sly humor and a mystery to solve with a good share of bullets flying and bodies piling up.

KILLER VIEW by Roy Johansen: It was great having another episode with Jessie Mercado and Kendra Michaels. Throw in a business with prisoners, include a missing person and you have a killer mystery to help solve. Good luck to all amateur PIs on this mystery to unravel; it's killer!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Killer View by Roy Johansen that I read and reviewed on my own.
This is the first book in the Jessie Mercado series and it was one heck of a way to introduce Jessie in her own series. True, her pal Kendra Michaels made a couple of appearances but that just added to the book because we all need a little Kendra now and then.
I loved Jessie running her PI business and trying to find the a guy that helps criminals prepare to go to jail. The action started right away when Jessie’s first witness is killed in front of her and someone tries to kill her and it does not end until Jessie and her friends take down the perpetrator.
This is a high action suspense book that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat from the start. I could not put it down and I can’t wait for the next book to come out. Roy Johansen took Jessie Mercado to a level of her own in her own books. I hope she turns into the next Eve Duncan!
Killer View gets five out of five stars from me!

A romp of a book about the hunt for a missing man. Kendra and Jessie are on the hunt for Carl Ferris,, a consultant who helps prepare high end felons for prison. Jessie's boyfriend Jake Brice, an actor is along for the ride (he's a hoot). Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. This isn't deep or complicated and I suspect that those who have followed the series will get more out of it than I did. Regardless, it's an entertaining read.

Killer View features private eye Jessie Mercado, her friend, kind of with benefits, movie superstar Jake Brice, an array of characters that apparently feature in Iris Johansen's Kendra Michaels series and, for a cameo but crucial period, Kendra Michaelss using her super powers of observation. This whole book had a cartoonish feel to it, from the characters to the settings to the plot. It is fairly well written, i.e., flows well, grammatical, characters do things that are inherently consistent to the author's descriptions of them, etc. That's the only reason I could finish this, But it is just... not a book I could get into emotionally. Not one character is likable. Some live by super moral codes. But they are all shallowly drawn with little to like or hate because of their superficiality. The plot, a missing person search for a partner in a business that makes going to jail easier for convicts with money, dragged and the developments were ho hum. Not one thing was scary. Not one thing was thrilling. I just did not care. It gets a 3 star rating because anything less than that would reflect a book I could not or would not finish and this is very likely to be entertaining to people of different sensibilities and expectations than mine. No thank you.

Kendra Michaels enlists her friend Jessie Mercado to take on a baffling case. This job is unusual because her client is an incarceration consultant.

Owen Blake is CEO of Mamertine Consulting. They help wealthy people get their affairs in order before going to prison. Owen needs Jessie to help find his missing partner before his company goes under.

Jessie gets some assistance from her hot movie star friend, some beefy bodyguards and the unique abilities of Kendra. There will be murders, car chases from one harrowing experience to the next before this case is solved.

A first rate book. Roy’s first solo outing in Kendra Michaels series focused on Jessie Mercado. Kendra was only in the book towards the end. I missed her, but Jessie was a strong protagonist who carried the story along nicely. Good cast of characters—fun good guys and creepy bad ones. Looking forward to more.

KILLER VIEW is filled with action, drama, danger, intrigue. Readers are always left wondering what twist will be around the next corner. Talent certainly runs deep in the Johansen family!

Jesse Mercado takes a missing person case at the request of Kendra Michaels for one of the owners of a business that prepares wealthy convicted criminals for going to prison. The plot takes you on a murderous journey and puts Jesse in constant danger she didn’t anticipate in what was supposed to be a simple missing persons case. The characters are vibrant and well developed appearing in prior novels. If you haven’t read the prior novels, it won’t prevent you from reading this one as the important historic ties are described. This book is full of twists and turns keeping you so engrossed you won’t put it down.

I loved this book and the author. I look forward to more!

This book is a continuation of the Kendra Michaels series, altho Kendra doesn’t play a major role in the book. P. I. Jessie Mercado has been hired to find a missing person. The deeper she gets into the case the more she finds she is being lied to, by her client. The closer she gets to the solution of the case the more people turn up dead. The suspense starts from the beginning of the book and never stops and there is a bit of a twist at the end of the book. Alto this is part of a series it could be read as a stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Killer View by Roy Johansen is part of the Kendra Michaels universe. Kendra has a bit part in this book. Roy wanted to delve into the character of Jesse Mercado a little deeper and wrote this solo novel.

"Jesse is a PI and gets a eferral from Kendra. Owen Blake of Mamertine Consulting hires her to find his missing partner. Mamertine helps prepare wealthy people for prison terms so their client list is full of white-collar criminals, drug kingpins and a couple of murderers. As witnesses turn up dead and car chases leave destruction Jesse will find out just how far someone will go to keep hidden."

This is an entertaining story from Johansen. Kendra pops up near the end and works her sensory magic, but this is Jesse's show. It's good to see the extra layers to her hard-headed and stubborn character.

This is a crime-fiction/thriller. Fans of the Kendra Michaels series will definitely like this. Lots of action in this one and a surprising villian.

Hope we get more Jesse Mercado stories.

Great book!

This book continues the storyline started in previous Iris/Roy Johansen novels featuring Kendra Michaels and Jessie Mercado, and it does not disappoint! Fast action, mystery, danger, witty comebacks, and a bit of romantic interplay between Jessie and Brice, a famous movie actor friend/lover of hers.

I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to the next in the series.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of Killer View.

I really enjoyed this book, It was a fast read, a compelling story, and though parts improbable--who cares, it was fun. I look forward to more of Kendra and Jessie working together. In this book, Jessie had front stage as opposed to Kendra who has been the lead in the earlier books in this series.

This is the second book in the Jessie Mercado series. I am really enjoying this series. I love the cast of characters and the plot line. Will definitely be watching for the next book in this series

What a fantastic read! This is the second book I've read following Jessie Mercado, a private investigator with a great circle of friends.

What did I like? This book is one crazy ride. Jessie gets hired to find a man but with every thread that unravels it seems like three more take it's place. I really enjoyed the cast of characters that set out to help Jessie, including the sexy Brice that Jessie finds herself caring about.

Would I recommend or buy? Roy Johansen usually coauthors with his mother Iris. It's really enjoyable to see some similar techniques with such great storytelling. I loved the book and the character Jessie. I'm also a fan of his Kendra books!

Five stars! I received a complimentary ARC to read and voluntarily left a review! Fantastic book!
