I am an avid reader, never not in the midst of reading a book, and so it is always wonderful to find a novel like “The End of Getting Lost” with its very unique storyline and an ending that took me completely by surprise.

Basically this is a story of a young man who is trying to recapture/win back the love of his life. The character development, which gives the reader great insight into both main characters, Duncan and Gina, is outstanding. I felt the author was able to more than capture your attention with a story that just keeps you, almost on the edge of your seat, trying to figure out how Duncan will be able to continue his ruse. At the end of the day, I have to say this is one great book. (I was given this book from NetGalley for my honest opinion, but I would have gladly purchased it—it is that good.)

A love that’s an obsession , that’s what this story is really about . Duncan literally goes to the ends if the earth to keep Gina’s Love at least that’s what the author leads us through , but is this love all that it seems ? Gina has lost her memory and only remembers her marriage to Duncan , and what he does to keep her is meant to be a long and dramatic adventure. It is for the most part but I found myself getting travel weary which accounts for four stars . This story does lead to a surprising ending , which made ne glad I stuck with it to the end. A fast read about an obsessive love affair, not really much of a thriller and written in a somewhat detached style that made it hard to care about either of the main characters. It was set in various European cities and that made it more interesting

This is a hard one to review, because I didn’t find it quite as thrilling as I want my thrillers to be, but definitely think it had some elements of mystery and thrillers genre. I do think it was well written, with very well developed, but unlike able characters. I am new to this author, but after this one would definitely give them another go, as it did hold my attention from beginning to end. Pact full of lies and deceit, which I loved! Would definitely recommend to those looking for a suspense story, which is quite intriguing!

As they travel around the continent, their pasts threatening to catch up with them, it becomes clear that Duncan is hiding something. What brought about the deception and how far will he go to keep Gina from remembering their past?

The story, told alternately from Gina's and Duncan's viewpoints, moves into the past to provide the necessary backstory for Gina and Duncan, neither of whom are likely to endear themselves to readers. While believable, neither one is particularly likable.

A compelling, introspective look at love and marriage, the narrative is nuanced and suspenseful, dramatic and illusion-filled. The credible characters and the strong sense of place anchor this story; the unfolding narrative explores the extremes to which passion will drive someone and leaves readers to decide if this is a story of love or one of obsession.

Suspense builds as the unsettling, twisty plot catches readers in its web of lies and deceits . . . and leaving them wondering just what is true love, anyway?

I found this book to be well-written, and I enjoyed the European settings. However, I don't feel it should be categorized as a thriller. In the end, I'm afraid I wasn't all that riveted by the plot.

Clever and disturbing work that is fast-paced and held my attention; read the entire thing cover to cover in 2 days, and it's been a while since I tore through a book so quickly. A few things are predictable (but maybe they're meant to be), while other plot points cleverly leave you guessing, surprised, or just intrigued. Watching two people deeply question themselves and each other while building an ever-increasingly tangled web of lies that has sincere love at its core is riveting and also disturbing.

Really enjoyed this read, and also left with an even firmer conviction that it's so much easier to never tell a lie in the first place than to have to maintain one. This book will propel you through its pages while also unsettling you, and I think that's evidence the author has done their job well. Thank you Simon & Schuster for the advance copy.

This is both a love story and a story of how the two lovers can lie to each other about their feelings, their motivations, their actions. The couple is seen taking a trip through Europe when she falls and loses her memory. He has his reasons for not telling her what has happened in her past, and in the process tries to evade her father and a former lover that is trying to track them down and get in touch. But all is not what it seems: is she really in control over more than she seems or is he more of a monster? The story switches points of view back and forth between the couple and by the end of the novel you might not be so sure of the precise circumstances.

This was not a story I cared for. The characters were not likable in any way. Deceitful and manipulative would be how I would Duncan., yet for all his lies and his conniving, he is also fearful of getting caught, so I'd have to say he is not a psychopath.
His best friend is a bully and his mother bears some blame for her beliefs which she forces on him. And his wife? Well, she might appear innocent when she has no memory of the recent past, buit is she?
The run away across the world idea just didn't feel realistic, more story like than anything and it took too long to tell. All in all, there was nothing for me here. I don't know why I bothered to finish it.

This was an unsettling book - in the best way! I love not knowing who is the villain and who is the victim. At times I felt both husband and wife were each victim and villain.

Kirman's storytelling whips us from Duncan to Gina and back again, from 1996 to 1992. Can I say how refreshing it is to read a book that isn't all about text messages?

It’s a suspenseful book trying to determine who is innocent in the relationship and who has ulterior motives particularly when they keep traveling in Europe avoiding notice and lying to each other.

It was fast paced which kept the book interesting and easy to read. There were enough characters developed but not too many so it was easy to follow.

It was hard putting this book down, I found it mind bending and couldn't stop reading because I wanted to know what the heck was going on.
A young couple, Gina and Duncan, have been in love and together since university. He's a musician and she a dancer. They're intent on forging careers combining their talents, but are both the overly protected children of possessive parents and that seems to have created a tendency to lie in order to please and also make life easier on themselves.
They separate, but when Gina has an accident, she loses her memory of their last year together and Duncan takes advantage by acting as if they're still
together and madly in love. They end up travelling through Europe (a lovely part of the book!) as Duncan is determined to not be found by friends and family who are determined to separate them.
I did have a hard time liking either of them - too many lies. How can you have a healthy relationship with such constant lying?! Love conquers all?
Nevertheless it's a fascinating read and the ending is quite a surprise. Definitely recommended!

If you read Fates and Furies, this is similar in the subtle machinations and co-dependant personalities; this is a passionate obsession that is so all-encompassing that no one can ever come between them, not even themselves. But then he gets a second chance when Gina is injured with a traumatic brain injury and seems to have forgotten the break-up. Duncan takes Gina on a whirlwind tour of Europe and goes to great pains to keep Gina from contacting friends and family so she won't learn the truth. But just when you think you know what is going on, Kirman turns the tables. The story is fabulous and very complicated!

From the premise, I thought the novel leaned toward domestic suspense or a thriller, but it was more thought provoking than I expected.

I love the fact the setting took place in 1996; no social media, no WiFi, no email; communication and news is old school and told through newspapers, television, phone calls and letters.

Gina and Duncan are young and in love, but they're more than that. Their relationship is passionate and volatile and so are their personalities.

They're artsy, idealistic, and want to live a life they've imagined for themselves, as long as they're together.

When Gina suffers an accident that causes memory loss, Duncan sees it as a sign that they are meant to be together and an opportunity to right the wrongs of their relationship.

The author takes the reader into the past, providing exposition about these two likable (and unlikable) characters; Gina is the adored only child of affluent, artist parents; Duncan is the only child of hard working immigrant parents who believes financial success comes from having a safe, solid job in finance, law or medicine.

Gina and Duncan are from two different worlds, but are they more alike than we understand?

As the young couple traverses Europe and the secrets and foibles of their relationship unravel behind them, they come to terms with the mistakes and decisions they've made together because in the end, it has always been about them.

By the end of the novel, it's apparent Gina and Duncan need each other and are lucky to have found one another.

The End of Getting Lost is about love, the madness of love, the intricacies of relationships and what we will do for the person we love.

The writing was good; thoughtful, emotional and sensitive; there are some beautiful lines evoking Gina and Duncan's confusion, inner turmoil and resolve in gaining control over their lives and finally making decisions on their own, regardless of what their friends and parents think.

I look forward to the author's next novel.

Cue the passion play button ! This was an INTENSE read! Not everyone or everything is what is seems. Right? Every marriage has its secrets. Right? How far would someone go to keep their secret? Gina and Duncan are married. Gina wakes up alone in a hospital bed with zero recollection as to what happened and why she is there. Is Duncan who she thought he was? Who did Gina marry? Gina cant help but be suspicious as her memories slowly return to her.

This was an INSANE novel, I absolutely loved it! If I could give it 10 stars I would. The level of intensity had me shaking. I could not stop reading once I started and I was thoroughly addicted to turning the pages.

This was my first novel by Robin Kirman, but it will not be my last. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. This will definitely be one of my number one recommendations to others looking for a great read to binge.
