So, it seems I have a really bad habit. Selecting books that are part of a series. This one is instalment three. Now I must add, you really need to read these in order. Canopy and Stitches and Sepsis. Then this one will make a lot more sense and a lot more enjoyable. I did read this first and decided on three stars but after reading the first two I will up it to four.

I think you'll agree with me when I say this is the romantic drama of the series. It isn't as action packed. Viv has grown as a character throughout the books but in this one you really notice the change. I also don't dislike many people but there was one person in this book that I was just happy the way things turned out for her.

The Third book has a slower pace then the previous two. But Fairham is a good author and though I feel this is the last book in the series. There is maybe a possibility of a forth. I would probably read that.

Enjoy!

If you were to ask me which book character has the worst of luck, at least health/ hospital visits wise I would without a doubt say Viv. She is an accident-prone trouble magnet. She has the best intention but always ends up hurt. This time it's a concussion, hence the title.
This is book three in the Vivian Chastain series and you should read them in order, you really need the information from the other books to make sense of the things happening in this one and to connect with the characters.

I'll be the first to admit that I have a bit of a love-hate thing going on with this series. I like Viv, and all her faults, as a character, I just doubt some of her choices. For me it's a nice change to not see too much of the poly relationship in this one as in the other books, I just can' connect with that storyline. Unlike the other two books, this book is really more of a romance, it's a lot slower paced and I think it might appeal to a larger audience than the previous two books. The character shows a tremendous amount of growth from the first book to this book, it feels like the author has grown with the character as well.

I can't say too much about this story because it will spoil not only this book but the previous ones as well. What this book has done for me is convince me that I no longer need a love-hate relationship with this series, I can just love it. This book might be the end of the series, I honestly don't know, but I would like to read more about Viv and her newfound contentment, as well as all the other developments in her life. I'd love a Viv the firefighter book, I'm sure she'll get some burns, but it'll be worth it ;)
Great read, 4.5 stars.

Its official, this series has won me over and I’m hooked. This series was so different that I struggled at times to decide if I even really liked it. I compared it to a car wreck where you can’t look away and you just have to keep reading. But then I found myself sitting here anxiously awaiting this new book and as soon as I got it, I read it immediately. To me that was very telling, not only does this series have its hooks in me, but I like it too.

I want to make clear that I truly believe that this series needs to be read in order. It’s not even named or numbered on Goodreads so I believe it is called the Vivian Chastain series –or something along those lines- with book one Canopy, book two Stitches and Sepsis, and with this being book three. Book one I considered to be an action-drama, book two was an action-drama-romance, and this book I would call a romantic drama. Each book has its own feel with the main story pretty well contained, but all the characters and what they go through book after book, changes almost like a soap opera feel. There are plenty of plot points that do continue from book to book, but watching the characters change and even grow, is why this in my eyes must be read in order to really get the full impact of the series.

I was surprised to find that this book shifted gears a bit and was not action packed. While Viv is poly, this book really focuses on her main relationship and watching it grow. This felt much more like a romance than previous books. This also dealt a lot with Viv’s mental health. She suffers from PTSD as a vet and an abusive childhood. This book was much slower paced and really dug down into Viv’s anger and how it gets her in trouble. As much as this book slowed down, there still was a big OMG moment! I could not believe that Faraim went there, but she did. So yes, this was much slower paced compared to the others, but this book will still keep you on your toes.

I don’t want to ruin anything for newer readers so I will be vague here. There is a character who I don’t like and I’ll just say that I was happy with the turn her storyline took. And while we don’t know for sure, there may be some women firefighters in the next book. I don’t know for sure that there will be a book three. This book ended on a good note of feeling that this could be a series wrap-up, but I hope not. I have just been talking with other Goodreads friends about how there are not enough women firefighters -especially WLW- books so I’m keeping everything crossed we get another book. Plus, I have finally decided that I actually do like this series so I want more.
