Marcus Rashford MBE is more than an outstanding player for Manchester United and England's national team; he's a man who has shown that he remembers where he came from and how others have struggled in recent years and both children and adults should know more about this national hero,

Harry Meredith's series on some of as the title says, football's rising stars has finally fallen on the man who is as I said is known for everything he has done to challenge poverty in this country. This series is written for children who are around five to nine and is written as a story rather than non-fiction, I haven't read any others in the series, but as a lifelong fan of Manchester United and a fan of Rashford himself, this was a given when the opportunity arose. We're taken on a journey that Meredith's writing successfully breathes so much life and engagement for the reader in, as we follow a young Rashford from his early roots and love of the game, through to many of his successes both for the Red Devils and to the National team right up to the 2020 Euros finals.

I hope to see that updated as things went awry that day, and I know without a doubt Marcus Rashford has so much more to show us on the pitch, maybe with the Captain's band on his arm. One can hope!

The excitement of the game shines through from the pages, and this series is perfect for children of any age if they've got a favourite young player... as well as any adult who may also read it to their child or just for the love of the player and sport!

I also loved how Meredith writes about the work Marcus Rashford did for children when he fought for all those in poverty to get their much-needed school dinner and the MBE he received for his hard work and the challenging of the government. Regardless of your club loyalty, Marcus Rashford MBE is a man to admire for all he does.

We love Marcus in this household and so loved this book! The boys have asked to share this with their class so we have bought a physical copy for at home and also for the school library

There can't be anyone who hasn't heard of the young footballer Marcus Rashford MBE, certainly not in Britain. He stands as a role model for many children and young people, for a number of reasons. This is his story as told by Harry Meredith as part of a series of books about young professional footballers.

This book is aimed at readers aged between five and nine and is presented like a novel, making a compelling story that is easy to follow. It tells of his rise to fame, his family and background and his achievements, ending just before the Euros 2020 finals. Which was just as well really, as Rashford missed a penalty in the final. But he is young enough to try again.

There are exciting football scenes where Rashford scores and saves the day for his team, Manchester United, including the F.A. Cup final and international games for club and country. All exciting stuff for the young football fan. There is also a happy ending as Rashford is awarded the MBE for his work in helping the schoolchildren regain school meals during the pandemic. Of course, Rashford's story isn't over by a long way and I imagine this book will get an overhaul. However, it is a delightful read.

I really enjoyed this book about Marcus Rashford, the Manchester Untied and England football player. I only knew about his campaign to continue free meals for children in the UK during the pandemic and knew nothing of his football career at all. I’d read about his childhood through an article in The Guardian last year so it was really good to discover loads more about him in the book. He really is a role model for young and old and this book fills in the gaps for anyone who wants to know more about how his football career started.

The story of Marcus Rashford’s football career to date. The book covers his signing for Manchester United, his debut in the Premier League and being called up for the England Squad. It also has a final chapter about his school meals campaign during lockdown.

Although I have no interest in football, I found this quite an engaging read. It will definitely appeal to young footballers. For me, I would have liked to hear a bit more about his school meals campaign and the values that motivate him.

I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

My 7-year-old was engrossed with this book and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. This chapter book details football match and career information, while also highlighting and describing his amazing charity work. Throughout the book reference and conversations are also recorded that he has had with his friends, family, and colleagues. The proof I received is awaiting its final 2 chapters (Euro 2021 and Road to Qatar 2022). From the reception this book received in my house, I believe Football Rising Stars is going to be a hit in my house and classroom!

I was privileged enough to get an advanced reader copy of Football Rising Stars: Marcus Rashford by Harry Meredith tells the inspiring story of Marcus Rashford from his childhood in Wythenshawe to playing for his boyhood football team - Manchester United as well as the England national team. and finally his MBE (Member of the British Empire) honour for his free school meals awareness campaign during the coronavirus pandemic.

Perfect for the young football fan, whether they support Man United or not. Also ideal for anyone who wants to learn a bit more about Rashford, the man behind the headlines.

I can see that young readers are going to love finding out more about Marcus Rashford from this book. It's very informative, a good length and snappy enough to engage the audience. It has enough in it about his campaigns that it won't only appeal to football loving kids or Man Utd supporting children.
A great topical non-fiction addition to any library.

This was quite commendable in giving us the novelised biography of someone millions of young British kids look up to – despite his part in the trio of failed penalties that killed off the latest Euros for England. It would have been saccharine and then some – far too sickly – if it had just been success after success, but it does feature his knock in his first FA Cup final, the steps back once Mourinho was his Man U boss, and so on. It makes this a very rounded book, and while the fanciful scenes of dialogue have to be taken with a huge pinch of salt, what we get must be something close to the real thing as regards his thoughts, hopes and emotions. Large font makes the pages move, and there are a couple of generic spot illustrations here and there, too.

What is unknown, however, is how the book is going to manage to close out. While what I saw ends on the high of the success of Rashford's Rations and his MBE, two chapters as yet unwritten will have to cover his flop at the Euros, and a "Road to Qatar" that may or may not depend on a shoulder niggle that he stupidly kept quiet about until after the tourney and still hasn't (at time of my writing) committed to surgery for. Such is the quandary when designing a book that needs to be utterly up-to-date for such a demanding, youthful audience. Just because certain BBC commentators insist "Rashy" is the man of the year does not mean a pat, positive finish or even an ending with potentiality, is guaranteed. What I saw served its readers and subject very well, but getting the review file so early left a quite unintended cliffhanger. If fate allows, I am sure the author is more than able to keep all concerned smiling, however.
