Hook, Line and Sinker is the follow up book to It Happened One Summer. Instead of following, Brendan and Piper, this book follows Piper's younger sister Hannah and her relationship with Brendan's best friend, Fox.
In Hook, Lime and Sinker Hannah returns to Westport for work and needs a place to stay while she is there. Conveniently, Brendan's parents are visiting the same time that Hannah will be there, leaving Piper and Brendan's guest room occupied forcing Hannah to take Fox's spare bedroom at his apartment.
Hannah and Fox have stayed in touch since her return to L.A. through flirtatious and friendly text banter and through their shared love of music so moving in together for a few weeks shouldn't be a problem.
Fox (11:32 PM): Today was a Ryan Adams vibe for me.
Hannah (11:33 PM): My day was so very Amy Winehouse
Both Hannah and Fox both struggle with their own personal issues.
Hannah is vastly different from her sister, Piper, who loves attention. Hannah prefers being on the sidelines which causes her to not take risks like her sister, Piper.
Fox isn't used to longterm relationships and always has been used to people referring to him as a heartbreaker. He has spent a majority of his life chasing that identity and it's gotten to the point where he can't even fathom anyone wanting to be with him other than for s*x.
"I've never broken anyone's heart." That was true. He'd never been close enough to anyone for that to be a possibility."
So when their mutual attraction starts to surface things get complicated quick. Fox will need to decide if Hannah is worth breaking his routine of one night stands and Hannah will need to figure out if she really wants to stay stuck as a side character in her own life.
"I can't lie in bed without already feeling you there. I've never had you, and your body haunts mine."
Hook, Line, and Sinker is a great slow-burn, friends-to-lovers read about taking risks and not letting your stereotypes define you.
I can't wait to read more by Tessa Bailey! She truly has a knack for writing spicy scenes that put butterflies in your stomach.
Thank you to Netgalley and Tessa Bailey for letting me read this early.

I had high expectations for this book after reading her others and it did not disappoint. It shattered my heart in the best way and then put it back together. The characters were so real and raw. It was a bit slower than It Happened One Summer but that fit Hannah and Fox so well.

This follow up to It Happened One Summer did not disappoint! We got to know Hannah and Fox in the previous book so I was so excited to get to explore their stories.
Hannah is the little sister who is working hard in her career but is not appreciated or given the opportunities to do what she loves which is incorporating her passion for music and record into the movies and films she’s assisting on. With a long standing unrequited crush on the director, she finds herself suggesting filming on location in the small fishing town her sister Piper and her came from.
Fox is a self described ladies man who has a reputation for being good looking and a good catch..for a night only. Eschewing all serious responsibility and leaning into his playboy lifestyle and reputation is all he knows.
Hannah and Fox developed a texting friendship and have come to rely on each other in many ways. But could they ever be more than friends?
I enjoyed watching this romance play out. It was more a slow burn and lacking some of the heat of the prior novel but all in all it was another great romance book that I could not put down.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

After reading the author's book where Hannah is introduced as Piper's sister, I have been eagerly looking forward to reading her story. Fox and Hannah are absolutely adorable in this one and I can't help thinking if this was even better than her previous one which I definitely loved. That shows they are literally on par or this might have been even better as I like Hannah's grounded personality compared to Piper's spirited one.
Fox has a whole layer of depth in his character as he is not just the regular playboy but is the one with so many insecurities and self-loathing traits actually. I loved the slow burn and this is perfect for those who enjoy friends to lovers trope. There is some major tension and angst between them and is so much more steamier! I loved the epilogue as well and it was hilarious.
Adorable read with some fine chemistry!

Thank you NetGalley, Avon, and Tessa Bailey for gifting me an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!
I loved this book! It deviated so nicely from the first one, It Happened One Summer, and was more of a slow burn romance, which was perfect for Fox and Hannah. I love Tessa Bailey's writing. Hannah didn't demand Fox change and Fox didn't demand Hannah choose between LA and Westport. It was really refreshing how Tessa Bailey had them just kind of grow up and evolve together.
The entire book is focused on pushing yourself to take risks, even when its scary. Whether that's job related, relationship related, or what have you, and it was a wonderful lesson to impart. This story is so well done. Absolutely loved everything about it.

I typically go for enemies to lovers versus friends to lovers, but this book made me rethink that. I adored Fox and Hannah's friendship and their journey. Hannah does such a good job with Fox's past trauma and I adored their relationship.
This is my second book by Tessa Bailey and I really am enjoying her writing style! She certainly brings the STEAM. ;) But she also gives you these relationships (both romantic and non romantic) that just suck you in and make you feel part of the world.
I feel a teensy tiny bit bad writing this review when the book doesn't come out until 2022, but I can't help it. I gobbled this book up so fast! You definitely need to get it on your radar now! Pre-order, mark it as "want to read"! It Happened Last Summer and Hook, Line, and Sinker ARE SUCH A GOOD DUOLOGY! I wish there was a third grumpy crab fisherman I could run off to Westport to be with. ;)
*THANK YOU to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my free ebook arc in exchange for my honest review!*

I adored Hannah and Fox's story! I finished It Happened One Summer over the weekend and immediately started Hook, Line, and Sinker because I was so excited to read Hannah's story. As much as I enjoyed Piper and Brendan's story in It Happened One Summer I think Hannah and Fox are my favorite couple. Their story had a lot of depth and internal turmoil, especially in Fox's case. You fall for his character so much that all you want to do is give him a hug and tell him he's worthy of love and all the positive things in life. He really was his own worst enemy in some ways. I loved how their story unraveled and the epilogue with both couples at the end was so cute! This was the first series by Tessa Bailey that I read and certainly won't be the last. This series had me craving a trip to a small coastal town, to eat seafood, sit by the water, and be happy in the moment. The steam was ON point. I'll be recommending both books to all my romance loving book friends! Love them!

Was really excited to get a ARC for this. Hannah and Fox were great and I really enjoyed their relationship. I was hoping for a bit more of the secondary characters but overall, if you’re looking for a sweet romance with minimal angst this is jr.

Fox and Hannah have a really sweet friendship. I was really happy to be going back to Westport, and I loved thier connection throughout the story, what I didn’t really care for was Fox. which was really disappointing because I love the idea of him, but he was so caught up in the past and what everyone thought of him it made it difficult for me to see him as attractive. I couldn’t connect with him.

Crab fisherman Fox and aspiring soundtrack producer Hannah met in the previous book of this series, It Happened One Summer, as the best friend and younger sister. Now Hannah has the chance to prove herself on a movie set that's shooting in Fox's coastal Washington town, and she's staying in his guest room. Fox knows the sweet and beautiful Hannah is off-limits, but after texting each other daily for the past few months, and now living in the same apartment, it's getting increasingly difficult to remember why. But he promised he would keep things platonic. Hannah, meanwhile, knows Fox's reputation for casual dating only, so she's determined to be his friend and maybe help him through some of the issues she senses below the surface.
The character development felt slightly uneven here, as Hannah spends a lot more effort helping Fox than he does helping her. But he does a good job of encouraging her, too. I hope Bailey is planning to write more books set in this world. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters and would like to see what's next for them.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

Fox was incredible. I loved his character arc. He broke my heart and I was so happy that he found happiness with Hannah. This was a wonderful book and I highly recommend.

I was Hooked from the first book in this series, and my excitement carried over into this one.
Hannah and Fox are a beautiful friends to lovers, along with tackling the tough subject of toxic masculinity and just the right amount of spice for this couple.
A beautiful story, from the beginning to end.

After reading Piper and Brendan’s story, I didn’t think I could love a couple more. Tessa proved me wrong with Hannah and Fox. I loved the sweet friendship that started this book off. I loved that Hannah was persistent in her goals to help Fox overcome the way he views himself. I loved how she stood up to anyone who made him feel less than. And I loved all the sweet ways Fox showed Hannah his feelings for her without actually confessing them to himself. The epilogue was the perfect way to wrap it all up.
These were the first two books by Tessa that I’ve read but they won’t be the last.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this book! Reading Hannah and Fox’s story and being a part of their journey was beautiful. The patience Hannah has with Fox and her ability to help him see past the negative and ugliness floating inside of his head brought me to tears. The way they communicated through songs and just looks at each other made me swoon. And let’s not leave out that beautiful sailor’s mouth Fox Thornton has on him! *fans self profusely* I really couldn’t recommend this book enough to someone who likes a real journey of the struggles in adulthood and relationships while also keeping it lighthearted. 5 out of 5 stars! Now, I’ll be crawling in a hole that is filled with Tessa Bailey’s books for the foreseeable future!

This is a delicious slow burn, friends to lovers romance. Hannah and Fox are first introduced in It Happens One Summer. Hannah being the supportive younger sister of Piper and Fox being Brendan's friend and fellow fisherman. We see glimpses of Hannah and Fox's friendship building in IHOS so when the opportunity arose to read their story early, I jumped on it.
In Hook, Line, and Sinker, Hannah's work brings her back to the tiny fishing town of Westport. In need of a place to stay, Fox offers up his guest bedroom despite warnings from Piper and Brendan to not get involved. What ensues is the continual build of a friendship that quickly turns into something more for both Fox and Hannah, however both have reservations that keep them from acting on it. This was a really angsty, enjoyable read. I highly recommend to Tessa Bailey fans and anyone who has not read her books yet, the Bellinger Sisters series is a great place to start!

Oh I loved this so much. I loved how confident they were in each other and I loved how they helped each other grow. Their romance was sweet and hot. I love Tessa Bailey and will immediately devour anything she writes. Excellent!

So I guess I like friends to lovers?! Wow, always avoided this trope thinking it was meh, but I was wrong.
This story follows Hannah who loves music and is trying to make strides toward her professional goal of being a movie score creator. And Fox, an experienced fisherman who has always been a “one night only” kind of guy. Sexy fun hijinx ensue! The drama and tension was good although it did feel and bit redundant at times, especially with the writing style; statement followed but the same as a question or a statement followed by “right?”. It got arduous by the end, particularly while reading Fox’s point of view. Some of the roundabout thinking conveyed his internal struggle and demonstrated the conflict he had reconciling his former self with the man he wanted to be, but at times it felt too inconsistent and tiring. Hannah was a delightfully written character - a perfect girl next door. I enjoyed her story arc and felt she was a bit more dimensional. Overall, the tension between Hannah and Fox was delicious and the steamy bits were hot as hell. I would recommend this to any open door romance lover.

Look, I loved Piper and Brendan. But Hannah and Fox have intrigued me since It Happened One Summer and I was so excited to get into their story so soon after finishing the first book.
Hannah and Fox prove why Friends to Lovers is a superior trope. The relationship building was genuine and you spend every minute of their story waiting for them to stop being idiots and just take a risk.
Fox really goes on an emotional journey through this book. He’s been the player for so long, never willing to commit to anything, and he really has to evaluate how he became that way and whether he’s capable of changing.
Hannah has to decide if she’s willing to be a side character for the rest of her life or step up and become a “leading lady.”
From the self discovery, to the slow burn anticipation, and the TOP NOTCH musical sections woven throughout pivotal moments, this book had everything I wanted.

The seeds of this relationship were laid in the previous book when Fox bought a record and secretly left it for Hannah. Since then (6 months or so) they have been trading texts and becoming "friends". When Hannah comes to Westport with her film crew she stays in Fox's guest room and it is increasingly difficult to keep to the idea that being just friends is for the best. A fun and light romantic read.

I was so excited for Fox and Hannah's book! This was probably 3.5 stars for me, rounded up to 4 due to the epilogue. I loved the writing and the story, but I felt like Fox's self-loathing/feeling that he's nothing but a one night stand guy got a bit old when it was mentioned what felt like every other page. Their romance and Hannah's faith in him was touching though.
