this was a cute romance! i read the first book in this series but since they can also stand alone i ended up skipping book two before reading this one. honestly i don't really remember Margot from the first book that well but I really enjoyed her story in this book! i loved the romance (be aware it gets quite steamy lol) in this book and i loved getting to know the side characters more since they weren't super memorable for me from the first book.

i think the only aspect about this book that i didn't enjoy very much was the lack of proper communication between the main characters for the majority of the book. i really dislike a miscommunication trope in an adult romance but it definitely could've been worse.

all in all, i did really enjoy this and i would definitely recommend reading it if you like romance novels!

Count Your Lucky Stars is an excellent follow-up to Bellefleur’s previous books, Written in the Stars and Hang the Moon.

Count Your Lucky Stars follows Margot, best friend/business partner of Elle and Brendon, main characters of the first and second books, respectively. Margot isn’t really sold on love and is content to be single until her childhood friend (who she hooked up with for a week in high school) Olivia shows up as the wedding planner for Brendon and Annie’s wedding. Cue feelings.

I mostly loved Count Your Lucky Stars. It’s adorable and a breeze to read. It’s also sexy as all get out. (Margot is a dirty talker extraordinaire.) Though I think Hang the Moon has more focus on the location (Seattle) and the friend group, both still shine in Count Your Lucky Stars and make for a well-rounded story.

One of the things about Bellefleur’s writing is that it feels so accurate to our pre-pandemic times. The cultural references make sense and it feels like I could just step into the book and be friends with these characters. They all feel like real people, and that’s just so enjoyable in a romance, to have such a well-rounded set of characters. Additionally, it’s always fun to see couples from prior books, and of course, Elle and Darcy and Brendon and Annie make appearances (as the group is literally in the midst of getting ready for Brendon and Annie’s wedding).

I found Olivia’s character to be especially realistic. She’s divorced from her high school sweetheart, and just moved to Seattle after spending time living at home after her aging father had a heart attack. I feel like we don’t see a ton of divorced characters in romance, but this is not an uncommon situation, and it’s nice to see it represented on-page.

My one complaint is that I had a hard time understanding Margot’s motivation at times. I sympathized with her feeling like the odd single person out in her group and losing her best friend to a romantic relationship, but those feelings felt more developed than her reasoning for not wanting to be in a relationship with Olivia.

All in all, I would recommend Count Your Lucky Stars. It’s super cute and such a fun read. If you haven’t had a chance, definitely check out the first two in the series as well. They have similar vibes and after Count Your Lucky Stars you’ll want to keep hanging out with these characters.

Thank you to @netgalley and @avonbooks for my gifted copy of Count Your Lucky Stars, by Alexandria Bellefleur. This book is out now, and is a must-read if you are still craving some romance! It follows Written in the Stars and Hang the Moon and contains spoilers for each of those, if you want to read the books in order. And now, spoilers ahead!

Count Your Lucky Stars is Margot’s story, and oh it is so good. Margot and Olivia both go through so much, emotionally, and Bellefleur is a master at communicating their journeys. And their chemistry is on fire! I loved reading about their love, and how their relationship developed. Plus, it’s always fun to catch up with the other characters in this series and see what they’re up to. I love that Bellefleur includes them, and keeps their storylines moving.

I love this series and I am so glad Margot found the love she deserves. The teasing and the tension between Margot and Olivia was palpable, and there was plenty of angst, so I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It definitely delivered on its promises of a solid friends to lovers second chance romance, and I delighted in every minute of it.

Alexandria Bellefleur always delivers! I honestly can't believe this is her first series, and I'm so glad I've been along for all three books' rides. Count Your Lucky Stars is funny, swoony, and steamy. My favorite combination!

it's been two and a half weeks since this book published, and if you haven't read it yet, i've just found your weekend plans. (read the other two in the series first though!)

margot cooper feels like a fifth wheel in her group of friends: there's her former roommate elle who's dating darcy, and then there's darcy's brother brendon, who's dating annie, darcy's childhood best friend. she likes how things are most of the time, but behind her sarcastic, grumpy exterior is a desire to have what her friends have.

at a planning event for brendon and annie's wedding, she learns that the wedding planner is her best friend from high school. in reconnecting with olivia, she discovers that maybe things weren't exactly as she expected.

i didn't realize this was a second chance romance of sorts going into it and i absolutely LOVE that trope. i wish i could be best friends with all of these characters or at least hang out with them for coffee once a month; they're awesome.

this book was the perfect conclusion (i assume?) to the written in the stars series. it's warm, it's fun, it's steamy (like whoa, okay), it's about WOMEN... it's really got everything. 10/10, i loved it.

thank you to @Avonbooks and @HarperVoyagerUS for the advanced copy of the ebook; i had already pre-ordered it by the time i got the book because i love this series that much. i already can't wait to re-read them all again one day. i can't wait to see what alexandria bellefleur does next.

This Sapphic second-chance romance is the third book in Alexandria Bellefleur’s Written in the Stars series, and I do recommend reading the books in order, but you don’t need to. This book can be enjoyed on its own.

One of the things I love about these books is Alexandria Bellefleur’s knack for putting her characters in hilariously awkward situations. This book featured a couple of devastatingly funny scenes that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

The characters are all imperfect yet likeable. Both Margot and Olivia occasionally behaved in ways that bothered me, but I could understand their motivations and it felt believable. It was nice to see them both grow.

Be aware that the story includes frequent foul language and explicit FF sex scenes.

Thanks to Avon Books and Harper Voyager for providing me with an ARC through NetGalley, which I volunteered to review.

An excellent sapphic romance— I finished it in one day and I know I’ll continue to read this author’s work!

Count Your Lucky Stars (rom-com)
My rating: Enjoyed/ 3.5⭐

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon for the advanced digital copy. All opinions are my own.

While I've enjoyed each book from the author, Margot has been my favorite character since the very first book (Written in the Stars). She's an authentic character who is proud to be herself, and her story was everything I hoped for. While this book would absolutely work as a standalone, for me personally, I like to read a series in order - I like seeing the updates of where other characters are at since we left their stories. We get a TON of Darcy & Elle and Brendon & Annie (I still kind of want to throttle Brendon😅🤷‍♀️), which was fun to see.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Fans of second chance or forced proximity romances will especially enjoy this one, as her reconnection with Olivia was sweet and felt organic. This was a open door romance with plenty of steam, which felt perfect for their story.

Does anyone else watch romcoms like horror movies with your hands over your face because the stress of what is going to happen is just so much... yeah that's how I felt reading this book, and can I just say that I am distraught that this is the last book in this series?

This book was everything, and I was so happy that finally, Margot got the spotlight put on her and gave her the (what I would consider) one of the BEST second chance romance stories I have read recently. Margot and Olvia chemistry just felt so right, and I was rooting for them to win the entire time. This is one of those books that makes you laugh but at the same time makes you want to scream and throw it across the room. Alexandria Bellefleur has done it again, and the writing in this one just happens to be my favorite. Margot and Olivia had a blissful spring break that led to what could be miscommunication that forced them to not talk for TEN YEARS. But you know a wedding is what will always bring old flames back together. This book was fantastic from start to finish, and the dirty talk was just specular.

I am over the moon about this one.

Thank you, Netgalley and Avon Books, for an Advance copy of Count Your Lucky Stars in exchange for my honest review. My full spoiler review will be posted on my blog.

Not my favorite of the three books in this companion series, but I do love a good second chance "friends-to-lovers."

Based on how much I loved Written in the Stars, I had high hopes for Count Your Lucky Stars, and Alexandria Bellefleur absolutely delivered.
Margot is just fine being single, or at least she was until everyone in her friend group paired off. And she’s happy for them, she truly is, but she also can’t help feeling like the fifth wheel. That doesn’t mean she is looking for a relationship, though. But fate has other plans.
While checking out Brendon and Annie’s wedding venues, Margot runs into the last person she ever expected to see again, Olivia— her childhood best friend and first love. Olivia also happens to be Brendon and Annie’s wedding planner, is recently divorced, and by another twist of fate, is in need of a new apartment. And Margot just so happens to have a spare room.
Living together shouldn’t be a problem. What happened between them was eleven years ago. It should be in the past. But the same sparks are there, and they have to decide if they’re going to take the second chance they’ve been given.
I’m such a sucker for a childhood friends to lovers trope, so I was bound to love Count Your Lucky Stars, but add in some pining, spicy texts, and a cat, and I was hooked. Of course, it had that trademark mix of fun, sexiness, and heart I’ve come to expect from Bellefleur’s writing and the wonderful found family dynamic with the friend group. Also, since this was Margot’s book, the astrology references were back in full force, which if you read my review of Written in the Stars, you’ll know I loved it.
The chemistry between Margot and Olivia was palpable from page one, and it only got better as their relationship progressed. The yearning between them was well written and continued even once they’d rekindled their relationship—at least their physical one—which led to my favorite (and very niche) trope, which I affectionately sum up as “pining idiots with benefits to lovers.” Also, speaking of their physical relationship—the sex scenes. Wow, Bellefleur really kicked it up a notch with this one, and I am not at all upset about it.
This book also had one of the few instances where the miscommunication trope didn’t have me wanting to throw my book (or, in this case, Kindle) across the room. Their miscommunication was realistic because teenagers are dumb, and it didn’t act as the final conflict of the book, which was also a plus.
Hang the Moon is still my favorite from the series, but Count Your Lucky Stars was a fantastic conclusion to the series. I loved how we got a happy ending for not just Margot and Olivia but for the rest of the gang. Alexandria Bellefleur has definitely made it onto my list of auto-buy authors.
Thank you, NetGalley and Avon, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading and listening to this second chance, childhood friends to lovers romance. Lauren Sweet has narrated all three books wonderfully and I'm always impressed by the variety of voices she is able to perform and the depth of emotion she captures. Second chance doesn't always work for me, but Margot and Olivia's fall out after that incredible spring break, made a lot of sense given their ages and experience. Being back with the couples from the previous books was also so much fun. Brendon and all his matchmaking efforts were hilarious and he really is such a lovable character. His scenes were some of my favorite and the cameo in the epilogue made my heart so happy.

As much as I wanted to love it, Count Your Lucky Stars ended up being just ok for me. The pacing was on the slower side and I found myself often losing focus. I also wasn't a fan of the drama at the end and it really frustrated me that things hinged on a 45-60 minute drive. This is pretty normal by Los Angeles traffic standards to get anywhere, so I wasn't sure why this was such a big deal. Couldn't Olivia just call an Uber using the neighbors phone and also let everyone know that she was having car issues? I was glad that Olivia finally recognized that she had to put herself first, but this pivotal moment in her character arc got overshadowed by all the over the top shenanigans. The epilogue really was sweet though and was a wonderful way to bring this series to a close.

I love this series SO MUCH! Alexandria Bellefleur is such an amazing writer - she really transports us to Seattle and into this friend group. I wish I could do a game night with everyone!!

Margot was written in such a way that I could really feel her pain, emotions, fears, etc. I loved getting to see her fall in love and fall in love with her as a character!

Thank you Alexandria Bellefluer for another amazing installment for this series. It is beautiful, funny, quirky, sexy as hell, steamy, and just all around amazing!

1. I ADORE these covers!! Like they are some of my faves ever!!
2. I loved catching up with these characters!!
3. I will officially read whatever Bellefluer writes!!

Seriously, all three books in this series have been so well done! Her latest is a second chance queer romcom that had me swooning from the start! I really loved both Margot and Olivia’s characters and when they are in forced proximity, their chemistry together really shines!! I especially loved Olivia’s backstory and I thought the conflict was realistic to the characters. She brings it with the steam again and - whew 🥵 I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author!

I have adored the Written in the Stars series thus far, and was so excited for Margot's story! Alexandria Bellefleur does not disappoint in Count Your Lucky Stars, which follows Margot as she navigates a rekindled friendship with the girl who got away ten years ago. The novel follows Margot as she fulfills her Best Woman duties for her engaged friends, and in doing so reconnects with Olivia, her former-best-friend-turned-once-lover. What ensues is a delightfully steamy queer romcom. I devoured it in a handful of days, and now have to anxiously wait for whatever Bellefleur writes next.

Highly recommend if you loved any of the previous novels in Bellefleur's Written in the Stars series, the second chance romance and close proximity tropes, and s t e a m y scenes.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for the free arc in exchange for an honest review!

Well, this might be my favorite book of the series! I enjoyed but didn’t fully fall in love the first two, so I went expecting to like not love this one too, but I think I loved it? And these covers…they’re just so gorgeous. I enjoyed the prickliness of Margot, knowing why she might have gotten there, the miscommunication that frustrates, but makes sense given Margot and Olivia's past, and how these two had to find their way back to each other after so many years apart. We get to see them dance around each other and come together against the backdrop of the characters we have come to know across the series. This was a great way to end the story, and I highly recommend it!

The chemistry jumps off the page here, and the spiciness level was high, which works for me! Pick this one up If you like your romances sapphic, steamy, swoony, sweet, and second-chance.

Be still my little lesbian heart, I am in love all over again. I knew I would love this and I was right. I loved everything about this book between the characters, the romance, the drama and of course getting to revisit the characters from the previous books. I was beaming from ear to ear the whole time I was reading this and I bought the book as soon as it was available.

I absolutely adored Count Your Lucky Stars. It was the first book I read from the author and it definitely did not disappoint!

Count Your Lucky Stars is a steamy, friends to lovers, second chance, f/f romance with forced proximity and amazing relationship development.

This was my first read in the series, I realize it is the third...I'm behind, BUT I immediately bought the first and second book in the Written in the Stars series!
