In essence, "Writing Down the Bones Deck" is a tool that invites writers to experiment and explore, providing a mix of sparks to ignite creativity. Whether you're establishing a new routine or seeking occasional inspiration, this deck could be a helpful companion. However, its effectiveness may vary, and not every card may resonate with every user. And it could more easily be an app or website instead of relying on cards.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

I had never heard of "Writing Down the Bones"...will need to get a copy of it to go with this deck for my library. I loved how the deck was set-up with the writing prompt on one side with the longer thought-provoking topic on the back. It's perfect for my writing group that plans to start up again very soon. I can foresee that we will be having some very interesting discussions in the near future.

This is a nice companion to the book of the same name. I would definitely use this deck for myself and I would recommend it to anyone who works with aspiring writers, young and old.

The Writing Down the Bones Deck is a bit difficult to review as a digital product, because the idea is to hold the cards in your hand and write from them. I did find the prompts enjoyable, so I think the deck would be a lovely thing to have sitting around. More than that, though, the digital deck inspired me to go back and reread one of the author's previous books, Thunder and Lightning, which I'd somehow missed. Like so many writers, I loved Writing Down the Bones and was happy to be invited back into Goldberg's world of gentle inspiration.

A very useful, practical guide to writing. Prompts are explained and inventive, useful for any writer.

[review of uncorrected proofs from NetGalley]
A great follow-up to Goldberg's Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within. 60 cards with writing "topics" rather than "prompts" to get you unstuck and set your creativity free.

It is thrilling to have more prompts and questions from Natalie Goldberg. After reading the e-galley, I pre-ordered the Deck, one copy for myself, one to use with students. One school year, my creative writing students and I worked through the entire book of Writing Down the Bones. It was such a wonderful experience for them and me. I can't wait to work through this deck with my two creative writing groups this year!

I am so excited to find these cards from one of my most helpful and inspiring teachers whom I’ve been reading for three decades! I will use these to strengthen and inspire my own writing practice which ebbs and flows. These prompts (aka starting points) will encourage me to express myself on deeper levels and I can’t wait to begin!

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I love books or anything on prompts to get creativity going. I found some of the questions intriguing and interesting. Reading this in an e format I don't think is as beneficial as if I would have had the deck of cards I think the people that buy the deck of cards will really benefit from it. I think having the cards in front of you is a more fun and random. There are some fantastic questions in here. No matter what level you are in your writing career or journey I would suggest getting these in deck form and I think that they be fantastic.

This set of cards will be a useful and engaging tools for writers, especially those who are already familiar with Natalie Goldberg's approach to writing practice. I plan to purchase a copy! Unfortunately, the format does not make this title suitable for library collections; although I would consider purchasing it as an ebook for the library. Thank you for the opportunity to preview this title.

I absolutely love the idea of a book of writing prompts. Filled with ideas and encouragement, this book will be an oft-reached for book in my English classes.

I think this would be a great book for any writer, regardless of expertise levels.

This was an unusual writing prompt book. It asks questions that are answerable on many levels. What do you carry in purse, wallet, besides the obvious? Maybe anger, memories, resentment , etc.. I need to get this set for my journaling; it will happen when I get writer's block. Use numbers in every sentence, odd numbers a best! Wonderful book for people who enjoy writing. Make a great gift.
