Hot Little Suppers has a combination of recipes, some that I definitely want to try and others that would never fit in my family meal plan. The biscuit recipes sound good and there were a few desserts and dinner recipes I want to try. The layout and pictures a good and overall I enjoyed looking through this cookbook.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this cookbook!

I went back and forth on this cookbook. Some of the recipes were interesting, but some were too far out there to serve for my husband. This might be a borrow rather than buy cookbook.

I like how she gives tidbits about life at the start of the book. I enjoyed reading the various tips given throughout the book. I chuckled when she explained, “behind, hot behind and knife.” I say behind when I walk behind someone in a store and sometimes they’ll give me the weirdest looks; but I’d rather you know I’m there than to turn around and I’m right on top of you. When I was in culinary school; there were several close calls of people almost getting hit by a hot pan or sheet pan cause they didn’t tell the person holding the pan that they were right behind them. I like that her recipes aren’t all traditional Southern ones.

I thought this was a good cookbook. I liked the set up and how the cookbook was told. I like how in the beginning we learn about what Carrie Morey keeps in her pantry and advice on what to get at the store and store at all times and what equipment to own. I enjoyed looking at the photos and recipes. I even jotted down a few so I can give them a try sometime.

I did like it, its well written, however I will not return to it too often. It’s heavy on the biscuits and felt like an advertisement for the authors restaurant.
The pictures are really nice and the layout is beautiful. However, I wasn't interested in many of the recipes.

This is a great cookbook for people looking for ideas for feeding a big family. I especially liked the biscuit and pork al pastor recipes!

Yes, this has a fantastic biscuit recipe, which one would expect from the owner of Hot Little Biscuits, but there is so much more here. There is an array of recipes from lunches and dinners to drinks and desserts, and lots of kitchen tips as well. The only improvement I can suggest is that this cookbook needs more pictures.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a cookbook with a treasure trove of tips and anecdotes. The recipes seemed tasty and the pictures were great!

This is a cookbook more intended for the American market than the UK side of the pond but there were still plenty of recipes for those folks not wanting to eat American biscuits all of the time. I did like the recipes organised by seasons but more photos would have been nice.

I loved this cookbook. Carrie(the author) has made it so easy to cook by seasons. The recipes are broken down by each season and it makes cooking so much easier. All of the recipes were easy to make for the most and the ingredients were readily available. My favorite part was that she incorporates her real-life stories as a precursor to her recipes, it definitely helped me relate better to her recipes. The pictures are a great visual and I cannot wait to make more recipes from this cookbook!

Lovely book.
The recipes are well laid out and well explained. I liked the fact that she gives the vegan chef alternatives to meat-based fats. Makes this book a good guide in the kitchen for everyone.
I have to make that chocolate cake sooner or later - totally amazing.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.

I was pretty excited for this cookbook but unfortunately I didn't find a lot of recipes I would like to make. The synopsis specifically includes involving kids but I didn't find that to really be the case. The layout and style of the book was nice but it was very heavy on biscuit recipes and kind of felt like an advertisement for their restaurant.

I always mention how much I enjoy just reading cookbooks and imagining all the dishes (of course, I love to make them too!) and Hot Little Dinners is no different. It opens with a lovely introduction which includes the author/chef’s philosophy on life: "Be a biscuit -- rise tall, be warm and buttery on the inside, and be open to anyone's jam." Be confident, be kind, and treat everyone as equals. I love this so much. The recipes are introduced similarly, with really sweet family stories and are accompanied by the author’s “Hot Little Tips” which are really helpful, even if you’re a seasoned cook.

Hot Little Suppers comes from the owner of Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit restaurant, so obviously there are lots of recipes for amazing biscuits and spreads, but also other uses for biscuit dough and delicious dishes from dinners to drinks and desserts, presented in groups by season. .

I did wish that there were more photographs - I love seeing what my finished product should look like, as well as what I should expect to see along the way - but the photography presented in the book is beautiful. The recipes are pretty simple and straightforward even for those of us who may not be a confident cook (I think I’m getting there!), and even though some of the ingredient lists are pretty extensive, I didn't notice anything that would pose a problem to source. I’m really looking forward to trying more from Hot Little Suppers, especially the Creamsicle Biscuits (OMG!), the Mediterranean Shrimp and Orzo, and the Tomato Rice Bake with Sausage.

I am so grateful to Harper Horizon and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review Hot Little Suppers.

This charming cookbook will definitely appeal to weeknight cooks, fans of Ina Garten, the Pioneer Woman, and Magnolia Table. A lot of the most attractive recipes show how to make from scratch things one might usually buy for take out or frozen: corn dogs (yum!), Italian wedding soup, meatball subs, pizza. There are also a lot of Carrie's takes on family faves and short-cut recipes like Thai chicken salad using a rotisserie chicken, grilled cheese, sloppy Joe's, and a bunch of absolutely delectable cocktails and desserts. The cookbook is arranged by season, and then again by weeknight/weekend. It's easy, fun, and there's not a single dish I wouldn't try to make, or my family wouldn't love to eat.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this cookbook to review. I am in constant need of inspiration for cooking meals as I have a large family to feed and am a full-time working mom. I like that the author included how important it is for her to cook with and for her family. The ingredient list(s) at the front of the book were also a great - definitely easier than going recipe-by-recipe to try and make a shopping list. I also LOVED how she divided each section into "Weeknight Meals" versus "Weekend Suppers." There is definitely a difference in the types of meals I cook depending on the day of the week.. The cookbook is beautiful, well-organized, and I really enjoyed going through it. Carrie has a beautiful family and it is so nice to see them featured front and center. I can't wait to make more recipes from this cookbook!

I enjoyed the heck out of this cookbook! The "Herbed Pizza Crust 3-Ways" is something I can have my kids help me with, and all the recipes are NORMAL - not too gourmet for our easy, chicken-nugget loving family. The step-by-step directions are easy for me to understand and follow. Would definitely recommend!

This was a great cookbook and I really enjoyed reading through the recipes. I definitely found some that I will be making.

I sadly did not test any of the recipies before the load expired. I did however read the intros and descriptions. With most cookbooks I don't enjoy the the intros and find them unnessicary. Often they feel like irrelevant filler but not with this book. This book made those extra sections feel cozy like you are a family member being passed down one of gradmas secrets. I wish I made one of the recipies in time to review armature results. The recipies did seem clear and uncomplicated. I look forward to reading it again and actually making something delicious.

HOT LITTLE SUPPERS by Carrie Morey is designed to share "Simple Recipes to Feed Family and Friends." The cookbook first explores a ton of sweet and savory biscuit recipes (like Biscuit Berry Nests and Eggs in a Hole) and is then divided seasonally. There are not very many pictures and the recipes include quite a few ingredients (six skewers of citrus soy chicken with peanut sauce necessitates having garlic, ginger, lemongrass, fish sauce, soy sauce, lime juice, plus peanut butter, fresh pineapple, hoisin sauce, and lettuce or rice). That’s too much for me! I think this cookbook will appeal with chefs who have plenty of time to shop and cook.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this title. All opinions are my own.

As other reviewers have noted - lots of biscuits in this cookbook! Excellent additional for anyone who needs to eat meals, or has a family who expects regular meals every day of the week. You'll find something to like within! I especially enjoyed the organization by seasons.
