A hilarious sequel to Dial A for Aunties! Loved that this one surrounded Meddy and Nathan's destination wedding in England and the **MAFIA.** Like the first one, this one had me laughing so hard like the first book. My only critique is that parts of the plot were overshadowed by the over-the-top shenanigans and at times, I was a little lost as to why Meddy was motivated to do certain things. Overall, loved it!

Wonderful!!! Sometimes the sequel can really pale tithe first, but this was delightful. Nathan is just as dreamy, I want one!!! Meddy and her family are awesome. And even if we are at another wedding plot, it is very different and just as funny.

I was smiling and laughing like a loon throughout my reading. It was cute, fun and had loads of humour. I really liked the how layered the characters were and the whole dynamic of the story. Henceforth, a perfect 5 stars read for me.

Meddy and the Aunties are back in this awesome follow-up to Dial A for Aunties. I liked this book more than the first installment and hope there will be many more books to come in this series.

One of my favorite qualities of Four Aunties and a Wedding was the humor. I was laughing out loud so much, often stopping to read sentences out loud to my partner, which I could barely recite because of how hard I was giggling. There are a few scenes where the aunties have adopted British accents and are using British slang, and those scenes have got to be some of my favorites in any book ever. I also loved the Asian representation, the Aunties' antics, the mafia storyline and the side characters Serena and Seb. The scenes with the mafia definitely ask the reader to suspend reality, so once I got past the ridiculousness, I loved reading about what happened.

My only criticism is that while I loved seeing Meddy and Nathan throughout this book, I think this novel would have been more successful if the main event revolved around another wedding other than Meddy's. It honestly made me sad at some of the scenes during her big day because they felt so over the top and her wedding was pretty much completely ruined. And I understand that highly dramatized mafia action was kind of the point of this book (aside from the family themes) but it left me feeling really, really bad for Meddy. I also wish that there was less emphasis on everything Meddy was hiding from Nathan during her wedding day, because that made their relationship seem really unhealthy and made me feel uncomfortable at times.

Regardless of these qualms, I really enjoyed this book and the overarching message of the love of family and appreciating your heritage. As always, the Asian rep was wonderful and I loved how Sutanto addressed identity issues within the Asian diaspora and the differences between Asian immigrant experiences. I highly recommend this fun, enticing and heart-warming novel!

Four Aunties and a Wedding brought the same chaos, madness, charm and ridiculousness that we all loved in Dial A for Aunties.
This book centers around Meddy and Nathan's wedding and aunties' attempts to outwit the mafia that have infiltrated the event. What could possibly go wrong?
The Chan family was again so endearing and fun. Their antics were hilarious but also kind of anxiety-inducing. I was actually kind of stressed while reading this one and some of the over-the-topness pulled me out of the story. Beyond just the wacky misadventures, some of the character interactions were really difficult to see as even a little realistic.
I still enjoyed this one overall but the overall plot got lost in all the craziness.

I loved the fast pacing of this book. I could not put it down and read the whole thing through in one sitting. Now this story is less of a romance and more of a lighthearted thriller. There is no development of a relationship story arc between two characters as there was in the last book where Meddy reunites with Nathan. Still, there are some lovely romance elements as we see Nathan and Meddy plan for their wedding and how their relationship continues to develop. The pair are just so darn sweet but not over the top. The way they relate to each other definitely makes for some swoon-worthy moments.
If you love wedding or party planning, you will love all the details included in this book. From the fashion to the food to the flowers, Meddy and Nathan’s wedding at Christchurch College in Oxford is a thing of many brides' dreams and Jesse does a great job of capturing all the details.

While my family is not at all like Meddy’s or even Nathan’s families, once again, I could relate to the strong family theme running throughout the book. In her introductory note, author Jesse explains the differences between her real-life family and her husband’s family as the inspiration for Meddy and Nathan’s families. Whether you are Asian or not, or come from a huge family, or have created your own found family, the truths here about the importance of the people we call family will resonate. They certainly resonated for me.
Speaking of Meddy’s family, prepare yourself for more hilarious hijinks from the Aunties. If you loved the first book, you will love this one even more. The Aunties are in perfect form in this one from their matching purple dresses topped with komodo dragon fascinators to purposefully drinking drug-spiked punch, I guarantee they will have you in stitches. I particularly enjoyed the scenes where they show off the British slang they learned to impress Nathan’s conservative parents. I nearly choked with laughter when they kept describing everything as “dog’s bollocks”.
You can’t go wrong with this book. Although it does stand alone, I do recommend reading Dial A For Aunties first to take advantage of the backstory and all the awesomeness that is Meddy and her Aunties.

I loved how comedic this book was, and honestly it was such a delight to read! It has just the perfect amount of mystery with a lot of funny elements, and I loved the aunties.

As someone who rated Dial A for Aunties as one of my highest books of 2021, it was safe to say that this was one of my most highly anticipated books of 2022. Unfortunately, this one just didn't do it for me. Maybe I set my expectations too high, but the things I loved so much about the first book (Meddie's family and the utter ridiculousness of it all) just fell short in Four Aunties and a Wedding. I did enjoy reading about the cultural differences between Meddie and Nathan's families, but it felt like an agenda was being pushed rather than the characters were really experiencing these events. I wasn't as charmed by Meddie's aunties in this book and I felt like there wasn't enough about Nathan to keep me interested in their fairytale romance. There were definitely moments where I was laughing and smiling along to the unfortunate circumstances that do occur, but this book didn't make me feel the urgency of cancelling all of my plans to curl up with this book and ignore the rest of the world. If you did really enjoy Dial A for Aunties and just want to dive back into Meddie and Nathan's story, then definitely pick this one up for a lighthearted read, but know that it is no where near as charming or side-clutchingly hilarious as the first book.

I had so much fun reading the next adventure of Meddy & her aunties. The story picks up a few months after Dial A For Aunties: Nathan & Meddy are getting ready for their Big Day in Oxford. And after the crazy events from book one, you’d think Meddy deserves a break, especially on her wedding day. But of course, even though she’s finally on the other side of the camera (aka the bride), this is probably the worst day of her life—because somehow the aunties have hired members of the Indo mafia to run her wedding… and they’re planning on taking one of the guests out 😵

I found myself laughing out loud at the aunties’ ridiculousness, especially because I can relate to A LOT of the adages & philosophies of the Southeast Asian culture. The aunties are very much like the matriarchs of my family, & it’s always so refreshing to see them on the written page. I do wish Nathan had a bigger role in this one, as I feel so much of the first book was done without him. The dynamic between Meddy & his parents could’ve also been more developed; I find it hard to believe that Nathan didn’t prepare them for the aunts. I did appreciate the mention of the contrast between specific “types of Asian” because it highlights the expectation of people of color to be assimilated into Western culture—something the aunties are clearly not, what with them taking classes to learn British slang & getting custom-made fascinators with taxidermy Komodo dragons 😂

As with Dial A For Aunties, you can’t go into this story expecting it to make sense because these really are illogical, but that’s what makes them fun & unique!!

After reading Dial A For Aunties I couldn't wait to read this one. I mean come on, a wedding and a mafia ... what could possibly go wrong?

Just like in book one the plot is absolutely ridiculous with non-stop shenanigans. Almost the entire book is based over the course of one day. Meddy and Nathan's wedding day. SO much happens!

Four Aunties And A Wedding didn't have me laughing as much but I still found it to be an enjoyable read. I hope so much to see the Aunties back again for another book.

Four Aunties and a Wedding is even funnier than the first book! I alternated between cringing and laughing at the auntie's antics. Another enjoyable mystery from Jesse Q. Sutanto.

The situations Meddy and her family find themselves in as they celebrate Meddy's wedding to Nathan and the British English lessons and British fashions had me laughing out loud. They have handed over the details of the wedding to another family but are they who they say they are? This is a story of family and loyalty and love with mafia and misunderstanding thrown in. Hope Meddy, Nathan, and the Aunties have another book of adventures.

This series is not for me. This is entertaining and I do enjoy the differences in the diaspora, but the other parts of the story just don't work for me. There is no sense oh remorse for the characters and big things are just swept under the rug to wrap up neatly.

A solid sophomore follow up to the first book in the series. The aunts were just as hilarious the first time around. I love all the hijinks. These women really epitomize putting family above everything (even dead bodies LOL). THere were a few plot holes that never got resolved IMO but overall it was solid.

Meddy is planning her wedding to Nathan in London. She wants her mother and aunties to enjoy the wedding as guests so she hires another Chinese-Indonesian family-run company to plan the wedding. Meddy becomes friends with Staphanie who is the photographer but becomes alarmed when she overhears her talking about taking out a target. As Meddy and her family try to find the target and keep everyone safe at the wedding, hijinks ensue. I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one, the aunties seemed way over the top to me with their fake London accents and their crazy hats. I think they would be offended if other people tried to talk and dress like them but I did enjoy most of the book.

Just as absurd (if not moreso) than its predecessor, but a ridiculous escape from my typical whodunit murder mysteries just the same.

When I saw that the sequel to Dial A for Aunties was coming out, I knew that I had to add it to my TBR right away! Four Aunties and a Wedding by Jesse Q. Sutanto an #ownvoices rom-com that will have you laughing out loud. Once again, the story revolves around Meddy Chan and her aunties. This time, Meddy is getting married to her college sweetheart Nathan. But will her wedding day turn out as planned? Or will shenanigans ruin her perfect day?

Here is a humorous excerpt from Chapter 1:

"I try not to breathe as the last corset hook is yanked into place. “Ow, that’s digging into my rib cage.”
Yenyen huffs a breath through his teeth and gives one last vicious tug, which forces a squeak out of me. “In the past, brides would break their ribs to fit into their wedding dresses,” he says, and it strikes me that he’s not saying it in a horrified tone, but rather a wistful one, which is somewhat worrying. “How do you feel?”
I risk breathing again, and to my surprise, despite the torturous time I had getting stuffed into the dress, once I’m in, it’s actually—dare I say it—comfortable. What sort of black magic is this? Overall, Four Aunties and a Wedding is an amazing rom-com and adventure featuring Chinese-Indonesian characters! One highlight of this book is that this is an #ownvoices romance featuring characters of Asian descent. As a reader of Asian descent, I am so happy to support this book! As the author writes in the Foreword, there is no one way of being Asian, so it's important that Asian characters of all types appear in books. I hope that more books like this featuring Asian characters can be published in the future. Another highlight of this book is the humor. There are many points where I was chuckling and straight-up laughing at the aunties' antics. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of #ownvoices rom-coms, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in March!

I thought this was fine! I enjoyed reading it, though I didn't love it. The narrative felt more natural to me than the the first one did since this didn't have flashbacks throughout, and I enjoyed the humor! It is definitely worth a read for fans of the first book.

I enjoyed this book more than the first one (the absence of the flashbacks definitely helped), but I still felt like I wish it were a movie (the farce element of carrying around the unconscious uncles!) instead of a novel. Sutanto often slams you with a legitimately laugh out loud line, but the overall book didn't wow me.

Four Aunties and A Wedding is the follow up book by Jesse Q. Sutanto. The first book Dial A for Aunties was a quick paced, fun, light read and this follow up story was similar.

Meddy and Nathan are getting married in his home country of England surrounded by both of their families. Meddy is still trying to “win” over his family and make the perfect impression on her new in laws, which gets messy when her aunties, mother and wedding vendors show up at the ceremony. Her family is anything but “traditional” in appearance but they just want to make a good impression. They attempt to learn British slang to help them connect but they don’t quite get all the words right!

It turns out Meddy is being blackmailed by her fake photographer who is at the wedding with her uncles, also vendors, to “take someone out”.

This sends Meddy and her aunties and mother into a tailspin and chaos ensues. They attempt to take control of the day but everything goes sideways and they get into a messy situation.

This book was similar to the first one. The aunties have become involved in another messy situation and in their attempts to fix it or help Meddy they end up making matters worse and nearly ruining her special day.

I got quite confused (as I did with book one) about the way the author referred to the aunties. Big aunt, second aunt, fourth aunt etc. That added to the fake photographers family which was second uncle, fourth uncle etc, I found it hard to follow and had to reread some parts to help make sense of them.

I felt so sorry for Meddy for missing so much of her special day with Nathan. I wanted her to get her fairytale wedding and felt she didn’t get that.

I liked how Nathan stood up to his family for her, however I understood his frustration.

Overall this book was fluffy, hard to follow but cute. I picture it as a summer, beach read or a book to pick up when you want something easy to read.
