Here Comes The Fudge is the ninth book in the Candy-Coated Mysteries series by Nancy Coco.

Spring is coming to Mackinac Island, and soon the visitors will be arriving. Allie McMurphy couldn’t be happier; the renovations at the McMurphy Hotel have been completed, and she is looking forward to using the roof-top dining area.

Allie’s best friend, Jenn’s, who runs an event planning business from the hotel, marriage to Shane, a Crime Scene Investigator, is just around the corner. They are busy putting the final touches together for the event. Days away from the wedding, Allie gets a frantic phone call from Jenn telling her that Shane has failed to show up for dinner as planned, and he doesn’t answer his cell phone or texts. Jenn and Allie meet up to search for Shane. As they enter an alley, they find Shane standing over a body and holding a bloody knife. Shane asks them to call 911. There is also an injured young lady seated and leaning against a building. Shane refuses to tell Jenn why he never made it to their dinner date or why he was in the alley. Once the police arrive, Rex, the chief of police, takes Shane into custody as the prime suspect, as he is also not willing to say why he was in the alley or why he was holding the murder weapon.

Allie and Jenn have their work cut out for them, with Shane unwilling to share any information and the young lady in the hospital unable to remember anything that happened in the alley. They will soon learn that the victim is Christopher Harris, a local pharmacist, and everyone they talk to believes that he was well-liked and had no known enemies.

Allie and Jenn have to start their sleuthing by learning about Shane’s and Christopher’s activities that day. They will begin to wonder about Shane’s innocence when Allie discovered that the girl in the alley used to be his girlfriend. Hopefully, the murderer will be in custody before the wedding.

This book is a wonderful addition to this informative series. This story is well-written and plotted. There were enough red herrings in the story that I was kept guessing until the end as to who the killer was. I love the characters in the series. They are developed and believable.

There are recipes included throughout the book.

I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

What do you do, when you think that the person you know, may not be the person you know? In this follow-up book, Allie's bestie Jenn and her find Jen's fiance and the worst possible situation mere weeks away from their wedding. Did he really kill the person on the ground and harm the other? Or was it a setup? With Ali being pushed out by Rex in an attempt to protect her and to keep her from being harmed, the crunch is on to solve the case so that Shane can be an exonerated and attend his own wedding. This is a fun cozy mystery and a very quick read, perfect for Summer!

Yet another wonderful addition to Nancy Coco’s Candy Coated cozy mystery series.

It’s the series that I love to recommend to people who want to give cozy mysteries a try. Allie has a great narrative voice. She always makes me chuckle.

In typical Coco fashion, this book had a great mystery with lots of twists and turns. I think this will be one of my favourites of the series. I love it when authors can keep me on my toes.

Allie McMurphy is back and the reno is finally completed on the McMurphy hotel and fudge shop.. Now she's maid of honor in her bff's Jenn wedding. Jenny's trying to stay busy by planning other weddings and leaving the good stuff up the Allie.. When Jenn's fiance , Shane Carpenter, doesn't show up for a dinner date she calls Allie and they try to find him. And find him they do!! Standing in a dark alley with a bloody knife and a dead man!! Plus a mysterious woman in another corner, who is out cold. Later its learned that the woman is Becky Langford, Shane's ex fiancee!! Yikes. And the dead man is local pharmacist Christopher Harrus. Shane can't seem to remember why he was there but then he gets tight lipped and ask Jenn to trust him. Will the wedding go off as planned or will Shane be charged with murder? Allie hates to see Jenn hurting so she does all she can to clear his name however that may come at a price. What if its not Shane who can't make the wedding but Allie!!

Allie's best friend Jenn is getting married to Crime Scene Investigator, Shane. When he's accused of murder the it puts the wedding plans in jeopardy. Allie and the crew at the Historic McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop are planning for a wedding and wind up solving a murder mystery!

I loved everything about this book - the mystery, characters (old and new) and the wedding planning. The author combines murder and character backstories so well that one never overshadows the other. A perfect balance. I always love the descriptions of Mackinac Island, the hotel and the fudge making process. They made me wish there was an actual McMurphy Hotel to visit - with no murders!

Allie is a relatable character who you root for - in sleuthing and love. She's kind, outspoken, stubborn and a perfect cozy heroine! The supporting characters enhance the story and it was fun to meet Allie's, Jenn's and Shane's parents.

A wonderful addition to the series!

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

HERE COMES THE FUDGE is another fudgelicious cozy mystery from talented writer Nancy Coco. This is the ninth book in one of my all-time favorite cozy series.

Allie McMurphy is one of my favorite protagonists. She owns a beautifully re-modeled hotel and makes the most mouth-watering flavors of fudge. She’s planning her best friend, Jenn’s, wedding when the groom, Shane, is caught in a dark alley with a bloody knife in his hand and a corpse at his feet! Allie and Jenn know Shane isn’t a killer and strive to clear his name as soon as possible. Rex, Allie’s law enforcement boyfriend, tells them to keep their noses out of the investigation.

Rex and Allie’s relationship is wobbly in this story; however, I hope to see them conquer their problems in the next story. The volunteer sleuth recruits at the local senior center are always a pleasure to re-visit, and of course, good friend, Frances, and Mal and Melanie, Allie’s precious pets. The murder mystery is solid and entertaining, and the evildoer kind of shocked me, but then I realized it made sense. The author succeeded in throwing me off the track of the true villain. I really felt for Allie at the end. I’m eagerly looking forward to reading book ten!

I honestly reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Kensington Publishing. All opinions are my own. Thank you.

Allie McMurphy just can't stay out of trouble. Allie and her friend Jenn discover Jenn's fiance Shane in an alley standing over a bloody body with a knife in his hand. Questioning the folks on Mackinac Island and hunting for clues keeps Allie very busy. Of course Shane isn't a murderer! So whodunit? I loved this storyline tied to Jenn and Shane's wedding. This is a fun cozy mystery!

I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I was so excited to see a new adventure with Allie and the gang! Even more exciting is Jenn’s wedding to Shane! That is if he isn’t convicted of murder first.
As usual this well a great mystery. It’s like catching up with old friends.

Here Comes The Fudge is a 5 Star cozy mystery that has lots of twists and turns that shows Nancy Coco’s talent. Plus there are several delicious fudge recipes you will want to try. Will this be a mystery that you can solve immediately or will it trick you in the end? This is definitely a must read! I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my review and honest opinion.

It’s late spring on picturesque Mackinac Island, Michigan. Allie is prepping her Historic McMurphy Hotel and Fudge Shop for the start of the tourist season and her best friend Jenn’s wedding. But when Jenn’s fiancé Shane, a crime scene investigator on the island, misses a dinner date, the two friends go looking for him. Led by Allie’s bichonpoo Mal into an alley, they come upon Shane standing over a body with a bloody knife in his hand. Shane won’t say what’s happened, just tells them to call 911. As the CSI is taken into custody by his colleagues, including Allie’s beau Rex Manning, the fudge maker vows to prove her friend’s fiancé is not a killer—before the ceremony turns into a jailhouse wedding. I have not read the previous books in this series but I am going to go back and read them all. They are set in one of my favorite places and the main character, Allie, is really delightful. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

Though Mackinac Island has proven to be a hotbed for homicide, the killer has never struck so close to home before. Shane, local crime scene investigator and beloved fiance of Allie's BFF Jenn, is found in an alley standing over a dead body with a bloody knife in his hand. Looks like an open and shut case but Allie and Jenn don't believe that Shane is capable of murder, even though he refuses to speak up about what happened that night.

The life of a peripheral character may have ended but this book was more about beginnings, focusing on Jenn and her upcoming nuptials and those of the couples she works with in her career as a wedding planner. It was kind of fun to see a couple reach the next level and see the McMurphy transformed into a beautiful wedding destination.

I enjoy this series a lot and it makes me really want to go see Mackinac Island for myself (to be a fudgie!) Allie is a fun character and I love reading the fudge recipes even though I would never try to make any of them myself. Her relationships take a turn in this book, though she obviously isn't ready to settle down yet. I think this series is a must read for anyone who enjoys reading culinary cozies!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

As soon as I picked up this book, I knew I wouldn't be able to put it down.
Allie McMurphy is getting ready for her best friend's wedding, and Allie won't let anything stop her friend's beautiful day. Between dress fittings and making wedding favors, Allie is still making fudge for her family hotel. In the blink of an eye everything turns upside down when the potential groom is suspected of murder. Allie knows Shane would never hurt anyone, but the evidence is piling up and Allie is running out of time to solve the investigation.

This book is so good, you won't want it to end. The characters are so real, and I connect with so many of them, that reading a book in this series is like being with old friends.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle by Kensington Books, Kensington and #NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Nancy Coco is a queen in the cozy mystery genre. Here Comes the Fudge is a perfect example of her sheer talent. Another success in her stable.

Nancy Coco does it again! I love this series so much. The moment I saw it was available for request on NetGalley, I knew I had to try and get ahold of it. Here Comes the Fudge picks up on Mackinac Island as summer is coming. The flowers are starting to bloom, the days are long and bright, and love is in the air for Allie McMurphy’s best friend Jenn. Her nuptials are just around the corner and Allie is determined to make her bestie’s day special.

Coco manages to take the reader for a series of twists and turns when Shane doesn’t show up for dinner with Jenn like they initially planned. When they find him standing over a dead body in a dark alley, Allie and Jenn set out to prove his innocence despite his protests. Per usual, Rex Manning wants Allie to stay out of it, but our independent sleuth can’t sit this one out when it’s her best friend’s happiness at stake.

What I loved most about the latest installment in the Candy-Coated Mystery series is the cast of characters from other books who reappeared. I also truly had a hard time figuring out what happened and whether I believed Shane’s innocence.

As always, reading Nancy Coco’s novels make me want to take off for the historic island. I was fortunate enough to spend a week up north in Michigan this summer and reading this book brought me right back.

If you haven’t tried one of Coco’s books yet, I highly recommend reading the series in order. Out of order, you will give yourself quite a lot of spoilers.

This is part of a series, which I haven't read, but it can easily be read as a standalone cozy mystery. However, reading prior books will likely give the reader a greater appreciation for the characters. I really enjoyed the fact that recipes are included, and I found myself craving fudge while reading this :) And I've heard so much about Mackinac Island, so I enjoyed that as the setting. The book made me want to visit the area.

I find this a consistently enjoyable series and this entry is no exception.

There is a bit more emphasis on personal relationships, which I guess would be normal when dealing with wedding(s), but there's a possible new relationship for Allie. On the one hand, I like her thinking, on the other, not a big fan of a strong romance element in my mysteries. Since it was relatively smart and didn't have a slight air of single woman desperation or used to provide an element of discord as in other series, it didn't bother me.

In the ARC copy I got from Netgalley, in exchange for my honest review, I spotted a couple of errors such as a missing verb. Nothing that distracted me so much it lessened my enjoyment.
