💭What I thought would happen:

I thought it would creep the pants off of me…check

📖What actually happens:

Kit has had a hard life. Husband lost to 9/11, her teenage daughter has been in a persistent coma for the past 3 years and lost her mother to suicide. That is a tragedy if I’ve ever heard one.

While struggling to find acting jobs Kit has taken up the clairvoyant life. “Connecting” to the spirits of people’s loved ones mostly people who were lost in the towers or in war. Kit finds herself no longer alone, contemplating if she’s pulling a Hamlet: is she actually connecting with the spirit world or is she simply mad?!

🗯Thoughts:

Kit is like Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost without any of the comedy and just straight up tragic. I loved her character. She’s doing the best with the hand she’s been dealt. While she is conning people, using their loss for her gain, she is doing it in the most respectable way possible.

This was a quick listen and I enjoyed it through and through. I had to get to the end to know was going on with Kit’s life. I’d say it was a 2.5/5 on the boo scale. Just enough to leave me peering around corners when I’m in the dark 😂

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC!

Unfortunately, this book is a DNF for me. It wasn’t at all what I expected. Could totally be my interpretation but it’s just not the book for me. I did not care for the subject matter. The writing was good and I’m sure others will enjoy. For that I am still giving this a 3 stars

Thank you Netgalley for the copy for my honest opinion.

Kit lost her husband in the World Trade Center on 9/11. She’s managed to stay financially afloat and care for her daughter with her acting jobs since then, but now with daughter,Zoey, in the hospital,, Kit needs money fast.using her experience as an actress , Kit becomes a “medium”, searching out other families who lost a loved one in the terrorist attacks, offering to connect them with the dead.Kit has no lack of clients and while she feels bad about the deception, that guilt is being surpassed by the feeling that some of these seances are not as fake as they should be. With Zoey in the hospital, Kit should be alone in their apartment, but she’s beginning to realize that she’s not. This story evokes so many emotions, grief and horror over that terrible day in 2001, wonder and fear about what’s happening to Kit….this is an amazing book that will leave readers gasping
