I have faithfully read all of Sophie Kinsella’s books, while imaging Amy Adam’s as the main character in pretty much all of them!

This book did not disappoint either! This was a genuine, heartfelt and entertaining book, that I enjoyed thoroughly.

This book had all of the ingredients for a well-rounded book, enough drama, humor, romance and her typical awkward moments!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Here is the blurb about the book as listed by the publisher:It’s been over two years since Effie’s beloved parents got divorced, destroying the image of the happy, loving childhood she thought she had. Since then, she’s become estranged from her father and embarked on a feud with his hot (and much younger) girlfriend, Krista. And now, more earth-shattering news: Greenoaks, the rambling Victorian country house Effie called home her whole life, has been sold.

When Krista decides to throw a grand “house cooling” party, Effie is originally left off the guest list—and then receives a last-minute “anti-invitation” (maybe it’s because she called Krista a gold-digger, but Krista totally deserved it, and it was mostly a joke anyway). Effie declines, but then remembers a beloved childhood treasure is still hidden in the house. Her only chance to retrieve it is to break into Greenoaks while everyone is busy celebrating. As Effie sneaks around the house, hiding under tables and peeping through trapdoors, she realizes the secrets Greenoaks holds aren’t just in the dusty passageways and hidden attics she grew up exploring. Watching how her sister, brother, and dad behave when they think no one is looking, Effie overhears conversations, makes discoveries, and begins to see her family in a new light. Then she runs into Joe—the love of her life, who long ago broke her heart, and who’s still as handsome and funny as ever—and even more truths emerge.

But will Effie act on these revelations? Will she stay hidden or step out into the party and take her place with her family? And truthfully, what did she really come back to Greenoaks for? Over the course of one blowout party, Effie realizes that she must be honest with herself and confront her past before she’ll ever be able to face her future.

One of my favorite things about this book was that the bulk of it took place over 24 hours- that made the book FLY BY! it was entertaining, funny and sweet. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It took me about 2 days to read this book and it was exactly what I needed- a quick pick me up!

Thank you Netgalley!

Sophie Kinsella's characters are always quirky and charming, and Effie is no exception. At first, Effie's refusal to attend the party and sneaking around the house felt extremely childish and annoying. But by the end of the book, you really do get a good picture of why she needed to do so, both for the story's effect and for her own journey. I really appreciated her growth, even over the course of what is basically 24 hours. Effie's family is wonderful as well. I liked her sister Bean especially, how she stood up for Effie and the closeness the sisters share. This is the first Kinsella book in a while that reminded me of the magic of Shopaholic and I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to Netgally, Random House, and Sophie Kinsella for a copy of the eARC in exchange for my review.

I always forget how much I love Sophie Kinsella books until I read one. As always, this one was hilarious with an interesting storyline that has a nice, neat, tied up ending. She’s just one of the best!

I am a huge Sophie Kinsella fan and I knew this book would hook me. If you love Kinsellas books I highly recommend this story. She always finds a way for the reader to fall in love with the protagonist and root for them. This book is no exception.

I appreciated the humor and enjoyed how she was sneaking around the house going unnoticed. We’ve all had times in our life where we wished we could be a fly on the wall and the protagonist is living this out. At times some of the story seemed rushed like falling back in love with the doctor Joe -I wish this storyline was expanded on more. But overall I give this story a 4.5 out of 5. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy. I will be buying this book for my own collection as soon as it comes out.

The latest confection from Sophie Kinsella is always a treat! This is definitely brain candy but for some reason -- maybe its the UK setting -- I always feel more sophisticated reading these than, say, Robyn Carr. This one was very funny, with the main character skulking around her childhood home during a party she was "uninvited" to and all kinds of shenanigans ensuing. You'll get a kick out of all the characters, especially Krista and Lacey. I could have done with understanding Mimi a little bit, but maybe she'll resurface in another book. Thank you for the opportunity to read this, I will buy multiple copies and will have no trouble selling it to my readers looking for a funny and light diversion as the holidays come around.

Solid 4, maybe 4.5 stars if you know and like Sophie Kinsella's style going in to the read. :)

I've been a fan of Sophie Kinsella's writing for many years and in fact, I believe I have read everything that she has written. I was thrilled, then, to read an ARC of The Party Crasher in exchange for an honest review of the book.

Sophie Kinsella's writing can be a little formulaic at times, as most of her readers know, but her characters ultimately have so much heart that you can't help but root them on and cheer for them. In a world with so many depressing and scary things happening, reading a Sophie Kinsella book is akin to a snuggly blanket and a mug of hot chocolate.. comforting and exactly what you want!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Party Crasher by Sophie Kinsella and recommend it as a fun, lighthearted read with a little heartstring tugging to go with it!

Thank you so much Dial Press/ Random House for this much sought after digital ARC!
Effie, ensconced in the stirring yet amusing plot of The Party Crasher, is sure to become one of Sophie Kinsella's most lovable characters.

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was cute. A quick read. While some of Effie’s antics were a little unbelievable at times, it was humorous. Good read for a low-key weekend.

If you can get past all of the over-the-top situations Effie gets herself into (which I had no problem with as they formed the hilarious backdrop for the entire book), this is a wonderful story. I loved it!

Effie’s family imploded 2 years ago with her “perfect” parents’ divorce, her father’s new younger girlfriend and her beloved home going up for sale. In her efforts to say goodbye to her home, she finds herself in some HILARIOUS and preposterous predicaments.

This story is about learning to let go, making peace with change and that family is most important. Each family member has their own issues to deal with, but they learn to lean on each other for strength. And there’s also a sweet second-chance love story that I enjoyed watching play out. Just an overall wonderful book. Recommended.

Much thanks to #NetGalley and #RandomHouse #TheDialPress for providing me the free early arc for review. The opinions are strictly my own.

The Party Crasher reminded me of why I loved reading Sophie Kinsella’s books when I was younger and made me want to reread some of my favorite books by her. Her writing is so quirky, British, and fun to read with an easy to follow storyline. The Party Crasher gave me Bridget Jones vibes because the main character, Effie, is stubborn and she has problems with men as well as with her family. Effie is upset because she is having to say goodbye to her childhood home, but she literally ends up being a party crasher to the final farewell party for the house. She hears conversations that she would never usually hear, making it very entertaining. It deals with the hardships of divorce, ex-boyfriends, and strengthening relationships with siblings. Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group for providing me with an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

For some reason I kept waiting for the dead body to turn up. Turns out, I was reading the wrong genre, lol.

I enjoyed this story and couldn’t put it down. I really liked Effie and would have behaved as she had but at the same time, it’s clear she has on rose colored glasses. Being the youngest sibling, she hasn’t always seen things as they were but as she wanted them to be.

Journey along with Effie as she tries to get her Russian nesting dolls.

Sophie Kinsella can write a chick lit novel really well. This was similarly themed to most of her other novels, charming, heartwarming, and fun. But added in is a spectacular plot point, Effie trying not to get caught crashing her family's party in order to retrieve a precious childhood treasure remains in the same house as the party!

Dysfunctional families are just so great to have in a novel. Effie was so charming and I had such a blast with this story.

"Eavesdroppers hear no good of themselves".... and our lead character in The Party Crasher learns this the hard way over the course of a house party. Effie is the baby of her family, so she's understandably stunned and takes it the hardest when her parents announce their separation at Christmastime one year. Eighteen months later, she feels doubly blindsided when her dad and his new girlfriend Krista declare that they've sold Greenoaks, Effie's beloved childhood home. Her relationship with her father has deteriorated ever since his split with Mimi, the only mother she's ever known, made worse by Krista gleefully throwing a black-tie "house-cooling party" to say au revoir to the house and NOT inviting Effie. After Krista then sends a passive-aggressive "anti-invitation", Effie stubbornly refuses to attend the party, despite her sister Bean's pleas - until she remember a treasured childhood possession left in the house that she absolutely has to retrieve. Still hurt by Krista's slight and her father's silence, she decides to sneak into the house during the party to locate her treasure instead of giving everyone the satisfaction of properly attending. Sounds easy, right? Enter, retrieve, exit and don't get spotted by anyone in the process, should be a piece-of-cake (in theory). The reality, however... running into the ex-boyfriend who broke her heart. Dodging family members and guests by cowering behind furniture and inside cabinets. Becoming the proverbial fly on the wall, overhearing conversations and witnessing private moments that start shedding light on some things that leave Effie wondering if she really knows her family at all...

The Party Crasher is Sophie Kinsella's best book yet - the perfect balance of heart, humor and hijinks. It's a combination of dysfunctional family dramedy with a second-chance romance, a formula that Sophie has perfected in all her books, but this one really shines. The focus of the story is on Effie's personal growth and maturity that she's required to develop over a short time, and it should have felt forced, but quite the opposite - it felt natural that she would begin to reevaluate everything she thought when she's forced to confront a lot of truths she had previously chose to ignore, due in large part to her position as an observer of everyone's private moments and conversations. Especially once her siblings, started to lose their own composure - seeing the normally composed and calm Bean lose her shit compels Effie to step up to try and hold the family together.

Many thanks to Sophie Kinsella, Random House/Dial Press, and NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Already looking forward to the next one!

From the blurb, I really thought the family secrets were going to be more shocking. I didn't find them to be that big of a deal. And maybe I'm wrong and remembering incorrectly, but I thought the whole thing with Joe was self inflicted. Without giving too much away, I really didn't understand why, if they loved each other that much, they would do what they did.. It just didn't make sense to me.

That being said, when I pick up a Sophie Kinsella book, I know to expect a lighthearted read and this one didn't disappoint. It was a little slow to start and took me until about chapter 9 to really get into it, but I'm glad I stuck it out because it ended up being a rather cute read.

Thank you to Random House and the author for giving me the chance to review this book.

The Party Crasher is a hilarious but also heartfelt story about different kinds of love and family. Effie's father and stepmother divorced 2 years ago and are now selling their eclectic home. The family comes together for one last house-cooling party, but her father's new girlfriend makes it clear that Effie is not really welcome, so she takes things into her own hands and crashes the party. This book has that Sophie Kinsella magic that makes it seem light and entertaining but also brings up a lot of heavier topics. It has lovable characters who get themselves into awkward but hilarious situations, people working together to resolve family turmoil, and long lost loves with unresolved differences. A truly enjoyable story!

Sophie Kinsella really excels at writing young female main characters who are just starting to figure out life. Her books are humorous and filled with funny situations. This new book is no different. It's very charming and incredibly heartfelt.

I loved the beginning of this book but felt that it went downhill fast until, by the end, it had unravelled completely.

It's a wonderful, fun story regarding a slightly dysfunctional family. Effie carried the story and everyone else is a minor character. Although the story is about the family it is mostly focused on Effie and her feelings regarding the dynamic of the family. Yet, I feel that Effie is not a fully developed character. There is so much more to tell, especially her relationship with Joe. I think there should be a full series on this family has each character has a unique personality. I would love to learn more about Bean and Gus. As always, Sophie Kinsella, created characters that you'll fall in love with immediately.
