The story here is a simple one: the tailor makes a garment that he loves and wears until it is no longer presentable, at which point he remakes it into something for a family member. The cycle continues until it is completely worn out. It's a story of using our resources to their fullest. A solid message, especially in a throw-away culture. But what really makes this book shine is the illustrations. On each page the vibrant, patterned fabric flows across and illustrates the way it is used. It has an almost magical quality. Delightful

This wasn’t a story I was super familiar with but I enjoyed I tremendously! Beautiful illustrations accompany a plucky protagonist as he reconsiders and repurposes frantic to be used for his family. An excellent reminder as well to the value of up cycling and the creative joy that can come along with it.

This was beautiful and a great look at how cloth is repurposed and valued in India.

The beautiful and vibrant book is such a fun read! My kiddos and I both really enjoyed it! Throughout the story, a tailor upcycles fabric that was initially from his saafa into something for one of his family members, until it wears out for that purpose, and then he creates something else for a different family member. I love the use of upcycling in the book as not just a means to be thrifty, but a different way to think about things and to truly appreciate them, as opposed to the consumerism that drives many lives now. This is a wonderful children's book from a unique perspective!

This book is about a tailor who upcycles his saafa (head scarf) into many thing for his family.
I love the traditional idea of upcycling fabric because it's not only thrifty, but also sentimental and valued.
On top of that, I loved the beautiful , bright illustrations! It did give me a vibe of South Asian culture. This book is a wonderful read.
