I hate to say it since I am a true fan of Carolyn Brown but boring and dragged on. Didn’t finish. This one bad book won’t stop me from picking up Carolyn Brown next book.

A second chance cowboy romance. Loved this one! A strong story with characters that you feel you know, and a town that you want to live in. Also a winter book - so great for this season to get you into the season.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook and audio version. I decided to listen to the audio. The narrator did a good job. A feel good romance. Perfect if you are just wanting a easy read for summer vacation!

Oh yeah I went out and bought this book. Nothing wrong with that. It was such a sweet read. I will never pass up a Carolyn Brown book. Sexy cowboys and it takes place in Texas. Loved it. If you are looking for a PG easy romance, between two rational mature adults (and I don't mean mature as in elderly, they are in their forties and can adult like we all pretend to) then this is perfect for you. They dated in high school, when he left to college he broke her heart, now twenty years later a series of incidents has them in force proximity (stranded together in a freak Texas blizzard, they happen is not that far fetched). It's also a found family trope. It's a sweet and easy read.

~~~ I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review ~~~
Carolyn Brown is one of my favorite go-to authors. She writes the best southern, wholesome, and lighthearted books! Texas Homecoming is the second in a new series that follows the Ryan family boys. This book is Cody's story. He is a doctor with Doctors Without Borders (aka Dr. Cowboy) who has returned due to his father's precious health. And his past Stevie is a local vet who treats the Ryan Family herd of cattle (and alpaca) on Sunflower Ranch. The two have a past and are not exactly happy to see each other, let alone be stuck together after a series of unfortunate events- freak Texas snowstorm and injury. This is a second-chance romance that will warm your heart. It is a story of forgiveness, trust, friendship, and family. I enjoyed this book as well as the first in this series... and I'm of course looking forward to #3! I whole-heartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good Texas-sized romance!
This is the second book in the Ryan family series, it's a second chance forced proximity slow burn romance (whew, that's a mouthful :P).
Now, you don't have to read the first one to read this. This one can stand on it's own.
I have loved every Carolyn Book I have read and this book is no different. She has a way of writing stories and making it into everything I want to read.
Texas Homecoming by Carolyn Brown
Heart-warming novel, where a doctor and a vet get a second chance at true love during a blizzard.
A very cosy, warming novel. Man likeable characters. Well-written. I recommend this book..
The next installment in "The Ryan Family" series. I have not read the others, but after reading #2 Texas Homecoming, I will search out the others and anticipating more in the series.
Texas Homecoming is a light and easy read. Something that can be read in a weekend and enjoyed. This is a sweet romance read, based in Texas. Cowboys also - yum! A second-chance romance involving a doctor and a veterinarian.
Just go purchase this book, you will not regret it!
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Carolyn Brown is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. This is the latest in a string of books of hers that I have read, and I have enjoyed all of them, including this one!
Mini Review: After reading the first book in this series, Second Chance At Sunflower Ranch, and seeing the next book would be about Cody and Stephanie, I knew I had to read this one! And I'm happy I did! This was another great book by Carolyn Brown, that I would definitely recommend!
I received an e-ARC from the publisher.
I definitely enjoyed the story! It took what felt like six years to finally get to the romantic love piece of it, but overall, it kept you wondering when! Sometimes, those are the best stories! This is a very clean romantic fiction story that will keep you guessing for sure!
This was a heartwarming tale of Cody and Stevie who were high school sweethearts and went through a crushing breakup. They are thrown together by circumstance but soon learn that their puppy love that didn't last has now become a slow burning love meant to last as adults. I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters and the pacing of the story was well done. The banter was a highlight of the story but the alpaca baby who gets adopted by mama cat and her kittens was the best part of this tale. I loved that it was different and endearing. It really boosted this story to the 5 star rating. I have not yet read the first story in this series but I'm looking forward to picking up a copy.
Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, especially when paired with forced proximity, which was the case with TEXAS HOMECOMING. I enjoyed getting to know these characters, but I most of all I enjoyed getting to know them together. I appreciated the author's effort in bringing their connection to the page through candid conversations and emotionally-charged dialogue. These two carried a lot of hurt from their previous break-up and having them talk it out instead of glossing over their past hurts made the difference for me in this story. I admit there were some moments where the pace of the story lagged a little for me, but in the end the romance won out and I stuck to it through the end.
All in all, an engaging, sweet and an overall enjoyable read.
Cody and Dr. Stevie had a thing in the past but Cody left things behind to work on his career. Now he's back in his hometown after working with Doctors Without Boarder and he didn't come back unscathed and is now on a break. Last thing he expected was the snow storm that would get him stranded in a cabin nearby but also find Dr.Stevie come in with a llama also stranded because of the storm. As they wait for roads to clear they'll just have to learn to deal with eachother as well as learn about eachother since it's been a while.
This book was a slow burn for me, I got used to the action packed non stop rollercoaster rides with my previous book that this book was a bit slow. But it was a nice change of pace. I loved getting to know the two main characters and what lead them to where they are now. It was interesting seeing how they helped and supported one another now that they are in each others lives again. It was interesting seeing how they worked through every problem that came there was and there was plenty of problems, poor Dr.Stevie couldn't catch a break. I enjoyed seeing them get to know eachother and fall for eachother and it was overall a nice read.
Cody has come back to town after being away for years. Suddenly, a snow storm hits that rocks the little town of Honey Grove, Texas. Cody ends up stranded, and soon finds out that the girl he knew years ago ends up being stranded with a baby alpaca in tow. Together they'll have to ride out that snow storm, and learn to somehow work together and survive while they wait out storm. They get to learn some things about each other and about themselves, are the sparks flying from that little stove or is it coming from somewhere else? This is another sweet story by Carolyn Brown. I highly enjoyed reading and listening to, I ended up doing both. Fans of Carolyn brown, and fans of sweet stories and cowboys will love this book. Thanks netgalley for chance to read this lovely book!
Stephanie, “Stevie” the local vet, is back in her hometown after her mother fell ill and passed. She’s not thrilled to discover that her first love Cody Ryan is back in town as well, since he crushed her heart years ago.
Cody Ryan came home after a long stint away, working for Doctors Without Borders. He’s back since his father’s health is in decline wanting to spend all the time he can with him and help around the family ranch. Stevie’s been prickly every time they run into each other, but they’re going to have to get along when a massive winter storm strands them together in an old barn with only a baby alpaca and kittens to keep them company.
Forced proximity and second chance are such fun romantic tropes! Add in cute animals and Texas Homecoming was an all-around win for me. I love Carolyn Brown’s cowboy romances! Small town charm, quirky characters, and low drama make her stories familiar and welcome.
Carolyn Brown is a favorite of mine. This book is #2 in the series, but could be read as a stand alone. Cody's story was a good one. He has lived a life a selflessness and his plan to come home to care for his father more of this. Being able to pick up where he left off with Stevie before he left was a surprise to both of them and his big family was just what the doctor ordered! Great read!
Has life given them a second chance or is this just closure? Texas Homecoming tells the next Ryan brother romance from an author who brings country and charm together in a fabulous way.
Cody Ryan had the tough choice of his dream career in Doctors Without Borders or staying home with his high school sweetheart. He chose being a doctor and went away to a fulfilling several years meanwhile Stevie patched up her broken heart and went on to be a veterinarian. Did he make the right choice years back? He does ask ‘what if’ because he never quite got over Stevie any more than she did him. In fact, she’s had a pretty tough row to hoe especially since recently losing her mom to cancer. But, here they are again and snowed in together with a chance to lay the past at rest. But, then they have to decide if there can be a future with family, alpacas and other animals, patients, and ranch life keeping them busy.
Texas Homecoming was sassy and small town goodness that I expect when I pick up a Carolyn Brown book just like I’m used to a sexy slow burn everyday people-type of romance that runs neck and neck with their working lives, family, and friends happening around them. While this book was its own story with a new pair taking the front and center, I did like how it kept the earlier book Sunflower Ranch’s story ongoing, too.
I’m not generally into the second chance romance situation where one or both of the romance pair keep their mad on for years after a high school romance didn’t work out, but this one got settled with the past anger fairly early on and moved into two people reconnecting and seeing if there was anything there after they’d lived separate lives. It was a hard choice in the past, but not necessarily a wrong one and they both did a lot of living and maturing in the meantime.
The slow gentle pace of life out in ranch country and reconnecting with friends and family were a great background for Cody and Stevie’s romance. It was comfortable and fun. I loved seeing them, especially Stevie repair the sad bits and grow happy together. The animals especially that baby alpaca played a great cupid role.
All in all, it was a right book for right book mood. Looking forward to the next Ryan brother to get his romance. Those who enjoy slightly spicy, small town cowboy romance should definitely give this one and the first book in series a go.
