Bartholomew likes to stay up late and play with the monsters that live in his room, and I totally understand this- I have playful nighttime monsters also, and they are SUPER persuasive. When morning comes, these same monsters make it very difficult for Bartholomew to get out of bed and get ready for school- again, I can so relate! When everything ends up in disaster, leaving Bartholomew frustrated and in tears, Dad comes to the rescue, and together they get Bartholomew sorted out (my husband is my morning monster wrangler). The story is sweet and relatable, and the wild, colorful illustrations perfectly render the struggle with mornings that night people have.

The author put a pretty interesting spin on getting up in the morning, and I loved it. Bartholomew spent the night partying with monsters, and when morning came those same monsters made it hard to get out of bed, get ready for school etc. It took dad stepping in to get Bartholomew back on track in the morning. I really like how the author blames morning sluggishness on the monsters, and the illustrator hits a home run with pictures that perfectly match the mischievous pranks.

Bartholomew has fun with the monsters at night. But when they won’t leave in the morning, he has trouble getting ready for school. Once his father steps in and helps, he can get to school and have a good day.

This is a cute book. Not a lot occurs, which is good for a quick story. The illustrations are fun and there are many different monsters to look at.

Every night Bartholomew and his monster friends have a wild rumpus in Bartholomew's room. Everyone has a blast, so much so, that in the morning the monsters want to party on! Unfortunately Bartholomew has to get up and start his day totally exhausted. The monster brigade impedes his ability to get dressed, brush his teeth, find his hairbrush, or even tie up his shoelaces. Oh my! Bartholomew is in a pickle and his morning is a disaster! Will he be able to get ready and get his life sorted for the school day ahead?

The illustrations are such fun. They are full of colour, action and expression. The monsters are not scary which is a good thing and kids will love observing the diversity of the characters. The story is relatable and will appeal to both young and old. I highly recommend the book.

This one will be good for lots of laughs. Bartholomew's nighttime monsters are many, varied, and quite the party animals.--so much so that they're not inclined to stop the party when morning comes, and instead make Bartholomew's morning routine a comedy of errors.

There is some mild potty humor, but nothing I would consider inappropriate for the classroom. The illustrations were busy and colorful, though they felt a little low-resolution/sketch-style, which sometimes felt a bit flat.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
