Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is not what I expected. I thought it would focus on the treatment of the mental illness he supposedly has but the vast majority of the book is about his drug use and bouncing from one job to another. Maybe I'm missing something about this man, as I have never heard of him before, or I completely misunderstood the summary of the book. He does seem to have some potential that would be great if he could get the treatment he needs and get on his feet. But he seems too flighty and I felt like he used hospitals as room and board until he felt like moving on. Apparently he is now one of UK's great chefs but unfortunately I have my doubts.
I hate to be so harsh and blunt about this book but it really just wasn't a very good book. Maybe with more structure and an editor, it could be better. It was a short book, which is good as I would've considered this a DNF had it been much longer.

I feel like I'm missing something with this book. Although the blurb says he rose to be one of the UK's finest chefs, you never see that progression so I definitely feel like I'm missing something. Also, the writing needed a little work, maybe a little more structure and editing. All in all, a very sad depressing read.
