This book was an unputdownable page turner. While right from the start you knew who had taken Eden and why, the story revolved around how the abducter was going to get themselves out of the situation they had found themselves in. The story was told from the perspective of three different characters, and I have to say, while not agreeing with his actions, I felt sympathy towards Jimmy. As a mother I could also feel so much empathy for Ali and while she had made a mistake in the past, she did not deserve Christopher’s treatment of her. In fact I really didn’t like Christopher at all. While I could understand his anger and coldness, he wasn’t a likeable character at all, though of all of the main characters he was the one I felt we knew the least, and also didn’t get to read from his perspective. Brooke was immature and possibly suffering from some kind of mental health problem, to get herself into such a tricky situation and not to come clean about it. I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down.

I needed to read this book when I read the blurb, it sounded right up my street and it really didn't disappoint. This has been told from the point of view of three of the main characters and I thought it was brilliant. To get the point of view of the abductor is very rare and I really enjoyed getting his point of view. It was a very different experience but one I really enjoyed.

I felt quite sorry for Ali, she has an abusive husband, granted they were both under a lot of pressure but there was no need for him to physically try and strangle her. I really wasn't a fan of Christopher. He pissed me off if I'm honest and I wanted to throttle him. Christopher was quite whiny if you ask me. He made the abduction all about him, when it was actually all about Eden.

Brooke I'm not too sure of. She really shouldn't have lied to Jimmy about Eden, she also shouldn't have exploited the situation, but she did, for her own gain. However, I did feel sorry for her and the hit she took. She didn't know Jimmy was going to do what he did.

Jimmy, I definitely felt sorry for, he abducted Eden, under the impression that she was his daughter and was about to be taken from him. However, he did go about it the wrong way. If that had been me in that situation I'd have asked for the DNA test as proof.

Would I recommend the book? Yes I would, it was brilliantly written, fast-paced and I loved the three person point of view. Very unusal way of writing, but it worked.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it was absolutely gripping.

It’s one of those sort of books that totally pulls you in, and I just kept turning page after page, it’s completely addictive.

There are lots of thrillers written where a child goes missing, but this one is a little different. There’s the heart-pounding drama of a baby being taken, there’s the fear and panic of the parents, but there’s obviously another subtext, something not quite right with Brooke, the babysitter, who knows more than she lets on. It’s a really clever plot.

The story is told from several points of view, from Brooke’s, Ali’s, and rather unusually, from the abductor. It all makes sense once the strands of the plot begin to come together, but it’s very hard to see how it will all work out, and it’s really tense as the end approaches.

I absolutely raced through this book and could hardly bear to put it down. It’s definitely one to make sure that you have time set aside for, because you will be totally consumed by it.

Completely gripping and so well-written, I’ll be reading more books from this author, who will certainly be joining my favourites list.

Brooke Simmons has been a babysitter and longtime friend to Ali and Christopher Tolfrrey's. She cares for their little girl Eden during the day whilst Abi works.

Eden and Brooke go off on their usual jaunt to Bushy park, to enjoy the swings and fresh air.
Whilst there Brooke is hit over the head and left unconscious when she comes round Eden is gone.
Brooke knows who has stolen the child but is unable to reveal her secret to Ali and Christopher or the police.
And so the nightmare for Ali and Christopher unfolds.

The story is a brilliantly written work with it coming in from three different sides, though not confusing. There are some revelations made that make you gasp and it keeps you guessing what will happen next.
A real thrilling page-turner.
Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book. xx

I loved this book, it was different in the way that it didn't have many twists as you know straight off what has happened but it certainly keeps yous intrigued as to how it ends. I always enjoy books by Gemma Rogers and have read them all, she is a great story teller.

REVIEW BY NIKI PRESTON ~
Star rating ~ 5 PLUS STARS

I have to give The Babysitter 5 Plus Stars , I loved every page of this suspenseful thriller. The story is very different from the norm and I found myself in conflict with my own emotions, wanting to dislike “the bad guy” but finding myself feeling sorry for them, being Spun a web of lies that forces this person to take drastic action.

The Babysitter, Brooke can not quite believe how very daft she has been and it seems the more she tries to undo this devastating event the worse she makes things.

I read this book in two evenings, it’s an absolute page turner, it kept saying to me ” you can’t stop here there’s a really good bit coming up”

The underlying stories that run through the entire book really highlight how fast a couple can unravel. Once seemingly very happy, in love with the perfect family very quickly falls apart as dark secrets are revealed after their baby, Eden disappears.

Anyone who reads thrillers with a difference, shocking tension running through it that grabs the reader and takes you along with it right to the last page, needs to grab a copy of this corker of a thriller.

The Babysitter by Gemma Rogers had me well and truly hooked from the very start. This was my first read from this author, but it will certainly not be my last.

Brooke regularly cares for the young daughter of her friends Ali and Christopher and is happy to help. Eden is a beautiful child and brings joy to all who know her. But a visit to the local park will leave Brooke with a blow to the head and the realization that Eden has been abducted. How will the babysitter ever break the news to the parents who have placed their trust in her and, as concerning, how will she protect her own secrets?

This novel offers a fresh and unexpected take on the familiar child abduction scenario, and it kept me guessing and gasping until the final page. I look forward to reading more from Gemma Rogers. 4.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.

When Ali and Christopher's one-year old daughter, Eden, is snatched in a park in broad daylight while Ali's best friend Brooke is taking care of her, the search is on to find her.

The book is told in 3 points of view, Brooke, Ali, and Brooke's ex-boyfriend Jimmy over a period of just three days but the plot affects all the characters.

It's twisty, fast-paced and absorbing. I enjoyed Reckless by Gemma Rogers and The Babysitter was amazing too. Creepy and atmospheric from the first page, I was hooked.

How much can you really trust a best friend?

Gemma Rogers has an excellent eye for detail and for creating tension and suspense. I felt like I could not get through the book fast enough as I wanted to know what was going to happen.

Thanks to Gemma Rogers, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random Resources for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

I am looking forward to more books by Gemma Rogers who is now one of my favourite thriller authors.

This was a good thriller. It sucked me into the story pretty quickly and I was curious how it ended. It was not one of those books that I couldn't put down but it did keep my attention. I would recommend this book to other thriller loves. I will also read more books by Gemma Rogers in the future

A white-knuckle rollercoaster ride with twists and turns on every page, thriller fans are going to lap up Gemma Rogers’ latest novel, The Babysitter.

When Ali Tolfrey asked her best friend Brooke to look after her one-year old daughter, Eden, little did she imagine that she would find herself tumbling headlong into a nightmare from which there was simply no escape. Brooke had been viciously attacked and the blow to the head had caused her to lose consciousness. But there was worse to come for her because when she finally came round, she discovered that Eden has been abducted – and Brooke is fully aware of the identity of her kidnapper.

Eden has disappeared without a trace and even though Brooke knows who took her, she refuses to tell Ali or the police of her suspicions. Ali might have trusted Brooke with her daughter’s life, but just how well does she know her best friend? Is Brooke the good friend she has always thought her to be? Or is she a woman in possession of dark and twisted secrets that could end up costing Ali her beloved daughter?

Brooke will do whatever it takes to find Eden and get her back to safety, but she is equally determined to ensure that nobody uncovers the truth about her. Brooke has spun lie after lie and deceived so many people and she is not about to let anyone threaten the life which she has worked so hard to build for herself. Can she rescue Eden from certain danger? Or is the net closing in on her leaving Brooke with no other choice but to tell the truth for the first time in her life?

To describe Gemma Rogers’ latest thriller The Babysitter as intense would be a massive understatement. A nail-biting chiller that will not let readers catch their breath, The Babysitter is a tense, creepy and terrifying thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat and reading all through the night.

Dark, gritty and brilliantly twisty, Gemma Rogers’ The Babysitter is an enjoyable thriller that is absolutely impossible to put down.

'The BabySitter' by Gemma Rogers is a psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat. I, for one, am a big Gemma Rogers fan and was excited to see her new release in my tour invites. This one does not disappoint in any way let me tell you.
Ali Tolfrey asks her best friend, Brooke to look after Eden, her one year old daughter. She could never have foreseen the fact that Brooke would be attacked that brutally that she lost consciousness. Neither would she ever imagine that Eden would be abducted as she was unconscious. She never expected a nightmare in which her daughter was gone and Brooke knows who took her...
Does Ali really know Brooke? She may trust her with Eden's life but is she really the woman Ali thinks she is? Brooke knows her kidnapper and still won't tell either Ali or the police. Her deftly spun web of lies which is now her life depends on nobody discovering them. Brooke is determined to find Eden before she has to tell the truth for once in her life but will she?
'The Babysitter' is a book that doesn't stop, not even for a second. I found my heart in my mouth while reading this. Intense is not the word. I always love a Gemma Rogers book but this one had me checking if I had taken my blood pressure meds that day! Talk about twisty and a high stakes story. We see Brooke not telling anyone who has taken Eden to protect herself. This made me feel like she was not a woman I would like but as the story unfolded and we learn more I was chopping and changing how I felt about them all.
The story is told by three characters in alternating chapters so we are able to see their points of view throughout. I enjoy this as it gives us a wider view of everything.
A gritty, fast-paced story with an emotive plot that gripped me from the start. The intrigue, suspense and interesting, complex characters make you want to know more as you are thrown straight in from the beginning. A great addition to Gemma Rogers other books
Thanks to Rachel's Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the copy of the book.

The Babysitter by Gemma Rogers is full of suspense. Told in three points of view, the surprises kept coming. I have to be vague with this review because I don’t want to spoil anything, but I couldn’t put this down. It felt like every time I turned the page, something else was revealed.

The Babysitter is a different angle on the theme of missing children. It takes a clever turn, which makes the entire book so captivating.

I’ve read books by Gemma Rogers before, so I expected good writing, but I think this may be my favorite read from this author so far. The writing is perfect, with excellent characters who drive the plot forward.

Suspenseful and thrilling, The Babysitter is one you won’t want to miss.

First, I want to thank Gemma Rogers, Boldwood Books and Rachael’s Random Resources for providing me with this book so I may bring you with this review.

WOW!!! WOW!! WOW!! Every Mother’s worst nightmare comes true in Gemma Roger’s The Babysitter. You think you can trust your babysitter but can you really? If you love missing person cases like I do you must put this on your TBR list. However, this is unlike any other missing person case book you will ever read. The story is so twisted but oh so good!! I absolutely loved it.

I really appreciated how Gemma in her Author Note gave us some background on the characters so we would have a better feel for the story.

Oh Gemma grabbed me and just sucked me into this intense storyline right off the bat! She put a lot of detail into that scene. Along with Brooke I too was yelling at my Kindle where is Eden?!

My heart went out to Eden’s parent’s. How do you tell someone that their daughter is missing?! It just pulled on my heart strings big time.

Eden was the one who captured my heart in all of this. She is so cute and didn’t deserve any of this.

The backstory of how Brooke and Ali met made for an interesting read.

The Babysitter was twisted, suspenseful, shocking, lots of twists and turns, and will make you rethink who you leave your child with.

What would you do if your precious baby went missing? This exactly what happens to Ali and Christopher Tolfrey while their babysitter and friend Brooke is watching their daughter Eden.

From the beginning it is apparent she is involved, but what we don’t know is why, what does she have to gain from hurting her friend!

The Babysitter is an intense thriller that has you questioning humanity.

I had two theories pretty early on and one was indeed correct and I am glad it was that because it made for a very unique plot. Without giving too much away, what an absolute mess!

This was the first Gemma Rogers book I have read and I like her style, especially the multiple perspectives as that always makes the read more exciting.

Definitely a thriller to look out for, it’s a quick read as you want to read “just one more chapter”!

I think there is one experience no parent wants to experience. That is their child going missing.

This is a thriller about a child abduction. It is written at a good pace and the author keeps you guessing throughout. It is told from multiply points of view which I normally don't really enjoy. But if the book is written right as this was, I found myself really enjoying it.

It also keeps you guessing. Also, you got to know the characters and I was swayed to like them then not to like them. Sounds confusing but its not.

It's well written and highly entertaining. I couldn't put it down.

Enjoy!

The Babysitter is a detailed fast paced story that is gripping, easy to follow and well thought out...
I like how Rogers has created an engaging plot that takes the reader on a unique angle as the identity of the kidnapper is known from the start!
The character development of The Babysitter is good. The characters are interesting and relatable. The reader learns a lot about the characters as they read more. I was entralled by each character in their own way!
I would recommend reading The Babysitter to lovers of Thrillers, as it is a dramatic story that piles on the suspense with deception, lies and revenge!

The synopsis of this book sold it well, and I was intrigued to discover how this would conclude.

Fast-paced, the plot flowed well, and the characters were created with depth, giving the reader an insight into each of them and their lives. Told from the points of view of the three main characters, this also helps to comprehend some actions (do not want to add spoilers!)

Unfortunately, for me, this turned out to be an average read. The twists and turns of a thriller were lacking, and although there was a conclusion, there was a lot more that could have been done with this plot. It felt like something was missing throughout, but I can not pinpoint exactly what that is.

This wasn't an outright awful read by any means. Perhaps it is because this is the first I have read by Gemma Rogers, meaning I need to adjust to her writing style and on a positive note, it has not put off picking up anything else by this author in the future.

Thank you Rachel's Random Resources for arranging the book tour, Boldwood Books and Gemma Rogers for the free copy of this book, in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Ali and Christopher’s daughter has been abducted while in the care of her babysitter. After being hit on the head, Brooke wakes ups dazed and confused and desperate to know little Eden is safe.

Why would someone take a one-year-old little girl? Will she ever be returned to her family again?

Fast paced with a satisfying ending but not much for the twists or surprises. I would have appreciated at least one good surprise.

However overall a fast read and enjoyable enough!

Thank you to NetGalley for my advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review!

Action packed and impulsive!
⭐⭐⭐⭐

I read it in one sitting. Loved the fact it was written from 3 different prospectives. Each character with a different opinion and experience.

Every parents nightmare having a child kidnapped......but all is not as it seems.
I completely felt for Ali. She came across so weak and helpless. Hated Christopher! A bully and no support at all.
Understood Jimmy to a point and don't really understand how it all ended with Brooke. There has to be a 2nd book!!!
It didn't end as I expected it to.....which is great. So many different scenarios were going through my mind. Chapter 43 had me questing what was going to happen next - a cross roads in the book. I had something else in mind, but I enjoyed where it went. The short chapters kept me hooked! A great read. Would highly recommend 👌
