I loved this book so much. Child abductions are one of my favourite types of thrillers and what I liked most about this book was that it was different from any abduction thriller I’ve ever read so if you like abduction thrillers and are looking for one with a slight twist this is certainly the book for you.

Ali and Brooke have known each other for quite some time, they both trust each other and Ali pays Brooke to babysit her 1 year old daughter Eden so she can slowly ease herself back into work again. With her husband Christopher working as a GP and the main earner Ali feels she needs something in her life in the way of work and Brooke is saving up for a place of her own is desperate for the cash so a win win situation.

However Brooke has a terrible secret. A lie she has told to her ex boyfriend Jimmy out of spite and revenge soon spirals quickly out of control when Brooke is attacked from behind, knocked unconscious only to find when she comes round baby Eden is missing. Brooke thinks she knows who has abducted Eden and why. Brooke finds it’s a race against time to try and get Eden back before her secrets and lies spiral even further out of control and damage even more lives.

Convinced Brooke is somehow involved in the abduction of Eden and with the police watching her every move Brooke has to tread very carefully. She thinks she can put smart the cops after watching endless crime series but is she smart enough?

This is the first book I’ve read by Gemma Rogers and I loved it, think I’m going to have a look at some of her other work! I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fast paced thriller with lots of exciting twists and turns.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest and open review.

I absolutely loved every page of The Babysitter! Gemma Rogers is a brilliant author whose books always suck you in and keep you gripped. The Babysitter didn't disappoint. Even though there wasn't any suspense I just couldn't put it down wondering how the culprit or culprits were going to get away with it!! Definitely 5 stars.

Excellent thriller, I really enjoyed the writing and the storyline, this is a very well thought out plot and right to the end you are left wondering! There are very small actions that make you think something is going to happen to trip somebody up (no spoilers) This is a superb child abduction story which I loved and couldn't put down, I will seek to read more by Gemma Rogers.

This is the first book I have read by this author and wow! I genuinely did not want to put it down!

The story is told over the course of three days by three very different characters.

Ali - mum of one year old Eden and wife of Christopher - Ali wants to spend time with her baby daughter but wants to try and get back to work as well.

Brooke - Ali’s best friend, adores Eden and helps Ali out by playing with Eden and taking her out so Ali can work uninterrupted.

Jimmy - Brooke’s ex boyfriend that ghosted her and blocked her from his life.

When Brooke takes Eden to the park one day, she is attacked from behind and knocked out. When she comes to, she is distraught to realised Eden has gone. It doesn’t take her long to realise that she knows who took her but in order to save her own skin she lies to the Police, her mother and Ali that she has no idea who could have taken her or why. Brooke is convinced she can get Eden back and save her own skin.

This book is fast paced and well written. I feel like I was on tender hooks as much as Ali was throughout the book just willing for Eden to be returned to her parents unharmed. I didn’t particularly like any of the characters, with the exception of Ali - Brooke kind of freaked me out a bit.

The book serves to remind us how a small lie can morph itself into a massive web of deceit. Excellent book which I thoroughly recommend.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

The plot sounded so interesting but the mystery was flat and took so long to develop I had long since stopped caring. Not even an entertaining guilty pleasure

Well where do I begin? This book is one that will put your heart in your mouth, play with your emotions and leave you shell shocked.

Gemma Rogers, stand up and take a bow! This is the best yet. I mean literally-Wow!! Trying to come up with coherent words to form a review following this gem is hard.

We meet Brooke in this one, she is a unique character who babysits gorgeous little Eden. Any story with a missing child is the stuff of nightmares. I often find I’m caught up in the emotions and this has been no different. I have felt every ounce of trauma and distress, which I feel shows how talented an author Gemma Rogers is.

This is a plot with the perfect pace, as the hours tick on the tension and suspense rise. I have devoured this book, completely unwilling to put this down from sheer desperation to know where it was going.

I have read all of Rogers books and this is my favourite. I have been completely blown away, the emotions I’ve felt and the rollercoaster I’ve been on is something I cannot stop thinking about! I have been completely caught up in the plot and invested.

There is absolutely nothing negative I can say about this book. Gemma keeps raising the standard and each book is better than the previous. I am already anticipating what may come next, I’m definitely excited to see what will be in store for us.

This is a book worthy of all the stars. It is truly fantastic and a book I have no doubt in recommending.

Brooke looks after Eden, a one year old, whilst her mother has some down time and is now resuming working from home. One day, on taking Eden to the park, Brooke is hit from behind on the back of the head. When she comes too, Eden is gone along with all of her things. For six months unbeknown to Ali and Eden’s father Christopher, Brooke has been meeting up with an ex boyfriend- part of her plan to be able to afford to leave home and buy her own place. When Eden is taken Brooke is shocked but knows that the person who took her will keep her safe. Can they be persuaded to bring her back so that neither they nor Brooke are part of the crime and that Brooke's plan, albeit financial ,has come to a rather sticky end?
I really enjoyed this- its a fast paced read about far more than a missing child. Deception and lies to fund a gain and once a web is woven how ever more tangled it may become. A brilliantly built tension and It's very well written which made it an easy read and one I quickly became engrossed in. Highly recommended
