This is my second novel by Louisa Scarr featuring DS Robin Butler and DC Freya West. In this novel, Butler's best friend, Finn, is accused of murder after being found in a locked van, covered in blood and a dead body. Finn has no recollection of the crime. Butler strives to find the truth assisted by Freya.
Freya is also working on a separate case, after a body is found in a fridge, but she too has her demons after her lover was killed in the last book and has to deal with a new temporary boss. Suspenseful and well written. I look forward to Louisa Scarr's next novel.

I enjoyed the first in this series and this one was solid four star read.carrying on with the same main characters of Freya and Robin.
Great premise. Well written.. Page turner. Plenty of suspense to keep me guessing .The ending leaving everything tied up left me satisfied. Definitely will read her next offering. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

I found this book to be just OK.... I got through it pretty quick but I didn't feel connected to the story and didn't connect with the characters...... quite disappointing really

This is the second book in the series - I enjoyed seeing how the characters of DS Robin Butler and DC Freya West have developed and how their working partnership has changed.

Robin is called out to a murder scene where his old school friend - Finn Mason - is the main suspect. He has to support his friend and find out what really happened. Freya is tasked with the solving the death of a local tramp.

Both are struggling with their demons and help each other to move on.

I read this very happily in two sessions and am await more in the series.

Well worth reading!

After reading the first book in this series I was looking forward to seeing what this one brought for Robin and Freya. I was not disappointed.

In this book they are, however, not working together for most of it. Robin has his work cut out for him not only professionally but personally in this story, while Freya has to adapt to taking orders from someone new.

Both cases they are working on are difficult ones, and are written very well. We meet characters from the previous book also, and more than one loose end is finally tied up.

Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing a copy. I look forward to seeing what the author brings us next.
