This is a short romance/mystery that features city girl and makeup model Libby and country boy Sam. It's a great prequel to The Last Goodnight which is about Sam's friend Kade. This can be read quickly in one sitting and will leave you wanting more so hurry up and grab the first in the series as well! The second book in the Blood Ties series, The Last Mile, won't be out until April 2022 so I will content myself in reading her back-list until then!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Kat Martin has done it again with another incredible romantic suspense book!! Libby Hale, who lives in Manhattan, has to spend a month working at Sam Bridger’s ranch in Coffee Springs, CO to collect her inheritance from her deceased Uncle Marty per his will. Libby was spoiled &. not very likable in the beginning but she redeemed herself & they made a great couple. This book had a great story with a HEA, wonderful characters, romance, drama, humor, heart break, action! I highly recommend it! I received an arc from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review.

I enjoyed the book and I would recommend it to those who had availability to downloading a book. The state library might purchase it to be borrowed by downloading. It was an interesting book regarding the death of Martin Hale “Uncle Marty” and his niece Liberty “Libby” Hale and his will restrictions before Libby could inherit his large estate. Libby was instructed to go to Coffee Springs, Colorado to the Bridget Ranch owned and operated by Sam Bridget. Libby had to work on the ranch for Sam Bridget.

OUTSTANDING!!! One Last Kiss by Kat Martin is book 2 in the Blood Ties series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. I have been reading Kat’s books for the past 20 years staring with her historical romances and she has alway been a favorite of mine so when she started writing contemporary novels I just had to read them. Her writing is so incredible and One Last Kiss will keep you on the very edge of your seat with this city girl meets cowboy. I just could not put this book down and read it in one sitting. It is great from page one to the very end. Kat is really has a true talent for writing. This story has a very rich city girl who is a model, death, a cause in a will, a very hot cowboy, expecting the worst, wonderful new friends, some pretty shady characters, going on a camping trip, attempted rape, needing to protect and falling in love but can a city girl and a ranch owner ever come together? You will just have to read this book for yourself to find out and I am highly recommending that you do!!!

***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

They couldn’t be more different but the chemistry between them is intense and as time passes their attraction and feelings grow. Can their love for each survive their differences and the danger that comes for Libby? Read it and find out!

Thank you, NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early release of this book.

This book was well done. Kat Martin did an excellent job creating and developing endearing characters and a page-turning storyline. It wasn't your predictable rich girl-cowboy story. The dialog was fresh, every piece of the story had a purpose, and there were excellent descriptions. I really felt like I was at the farm as a guest watching the story unfold.

I enjoyed the book so much (and the guest appearance of baby goats), that I was disappointed that it came to an end so quickly (I finished the whole book in under 24 hours). I'm looking forward to the next books in this series.

This story is the first in a new series by Kat Martin. It's also a novella, so short and sweet.
I loved the two main characters, Libby and Sam. He was a down to earth, hard working, country boy.
Libby was raised on a farm until she was 10, when she lost her parents and moved to the city to live with her uncle.
She is now a part time makeup model, with no clear direction in her life. When her uncle passes away, in order to inherit, she must spend time on a working ranch. Her uncle specifically names Sam's ranch where he has been going for years.
The chemistry between them is instantaneous. There is also a bit of a mystery. Ms. Martin also says up the character for the next book.
I enjoyed this book. But as is with most novellas, they seem incomplete . The book just ends abruptly, hence the 4star rating.⭐⭐⭐⭐
I want to thank Netgalley for the chance to review this book.

Everything Kat Martin writes is amazing and this romantic thriller novella is no different. This is the beginning of a new series by this author, I can’t wait to read the rest of these stories! Thank you Netgalley, Kensington Books, and Kat Martin for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I am a huge fan of Kat Martin, and this quick read, romance was simply heartwarming.
Upon the reading of the will of her Uncle Marty, Libby learns that she must spend a month working on a ranch in order to get her inheritance. Sam, the owner, was a long time friend of Marty, but doesn't understand why he is subjecting him to a month of Libby. But, little do Sam and Libby know, but Uncle Marty had a plan, and even from the grave he is setting things in motion. Their road to happily every after is a little rocky, but everything worth having is worth working for.
Truly enjoyable story with great characters, and beautiful settings.

A novella! Libby must spend a month on Sam's ranch in order to receive her inheritance from her uncle- but why? Any why Sam's ranch? Well, the course of true love is not smooth in this quick read where you'll watch Libby let go of some of her issues and learn to do the sort of hard hands on work Sam requires. Sam is your classic trope-y hero. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is, I think, meant as an intro as something larger. It doesn't quite satisfy as is but that doesn't mean I didn't smile when I finished it.

Heartwarming and sweet, this contemporary romance with a city girl returning back to her roots is a delight. One Last Kiss kicks off a new series by talented author, Ms. Martin. This short prequel sets the tone to this series so far. The setting harkens back to a time where the noise of social media and electronics is shut off. I like it.

Sam Bridger performs one last favour for a dear friend of his. Last favour because it was his friend's dying wish to have his beloved niece spend a month at Sam's ranch as a working employee in order for her to receive her inheritance. This sounds like a piece of cake except that said niece is a ... make-up model.

Not sure how this set up would be, I was a bit thinking this was going to be like Bill Crystal's City Slickers movie. Instead, this romance brings out a cathartic release for Libby, the high society model. I am touched by how Libby reconnects with her past. Her uncle's last gift to her is priceless. This is more than just a romance. Ms. Martin throws in a little suspense and introduces a character who will take the lead in the next book in this series. This contemporary romance is recommended to readers who like wholesome characters and cowboys with a heart of gold.

One Last Kiss (Blood Ties #0.5) by Kat Martin
This is the first book in a new series and I am hooked already.
Colorado rancher Sam Bridger and Liberty Hale (Libby) have a wonderful story. He is doing a favor for a long time friend and she has to leave her spoiled life in the city and work on his ranch for a month in order to get her inheritance. She doesn't expect her boss to be a good looking cowboy and he doesn't expect her to be a spoiled brat. There is angst, danger, laughter, tears, Libby coming to terms with her past, Sam finding out there is more to her than a pretty face, finding love and lots of steam to get us to a very HEA. I can't wait for the next book The Last Goodnight (Blood Ties, The Logans) in October.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Great world building Funny Action-packed Unpredictable Easy-to-read Page-turner Happily Ever After Witty Scary Wonderful characters Entertaining Steamy Tear-jerker Romantic

Sam Bridger is a Colorado rancher who offers guests ranch and mountain adventures during the summer months. His friend and past guest has recently died and had asked Sam as a favor to host his ward, Libby Hale for the summer so she could get a taste of a different lifestyle. Libby has been raised in New York among wealthy people and going to the country is the last thing she had in mind. All I can say without giving away the story is that this is a fun book, a page-turner and a can't skip for your reading list. I love Kat Martin's books!

So much more than just the city girl and the rancher. Libby needs to stay on the ranch in order to fulfill an inheritance request, Sam needs to make sure she stays on the ranch in order to get his payment as well. But when instant sparks fly will the two be able to stay on opposite sides of the fence or will Libby finally understand why she was sent to the ranch in the first place. With wonderful characters and a storyline that had me wanting more of the story this was a great start to what should be a fabulous new series from Kat Martin.

Kat Martin always writes stories that surprise and make you wonder what's going to happen next. This book is the same and I enjoyed it very much. I do hope that this is just one in a series so we can get to know this couple more.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sorry … this one barely makes the 2⭐️⭐️ I’m giving it. Honestly, I only gave it two stars because I finished it. It was juvenile. It read like a YA novel by a debut author. If I wasn’t a Kat Martin fan and had read several of her books in the past, I would never pick up another book of hers again. Harsh? Maybe, but I can’t get back the time I wasted reading this book.

I disliked almost everything about it. It could have been so much better if it had been a full length novel and not a novella. Too rushed. Too superficial. Too fake. Too unrealistic.

Thank you #netgalley and @kensingtonbooks for the eARC.

3.5 Stars

One Last Kiss was a quick read that serves as an introduction to the author's new Blood Ties series.

To receive her inheritance, Liberty Hale must spend one month working on a Colorado ranch under the supervision of rancher Sam Bridger. After Libby arrives, her and Sam get off on the wrong foot leading to a tense start of life to the ranch. But as Libby spends more time on the ranch, she begins to work through the grief over losing her family. And as an attraction blossoms between her and Sam, Libby finds herself feeling more at home on the ranch than she's ever felt anywhere else. But one of the ranch guests has taken an interest in Libby and he's not willing to take no for an answer.

Libby initially comes across as very spoiled which makes her hard to like at first. But as the book goes on, we see that she's putting on a facade to keep from getting close to anyone for fear of losing them like her family. Sam at first believed the show Libby was putting on which meant their relationship was slow to get off the ground despite their mutual attraction to one another. But as Libby's true self came out, Sam was quick to fall for the real her and admired her determination. I did have a bit of a hard time with how quick the pair's feelings developed but that was mostly due to it being a novella and the time jumps to keep the story moving. But I did really enjoy the steamier scenes between the pair which were excellent. The suspense element doesn't really come into this story until close to the end but it was mostly well done. I will say there was one thing I didn't like which was when the bad guy attempted to (view spoiler) as I felt it was unnecessary.

Overall One Last Kiss was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to reading the first full-length installment in the series, The Last Goodnight, soon.

Liberty Hale is a model in New York, and in order to receive her inheritance, she must work for one month on a ranch in Colorado. Being at the ranch brings back a ton of happy memories of her childhood, and it forces Liberty to face her grief over the loss of her parents. She also begins to fall for the ranch owner, Sam. However, there are some suspicious people staying at the ranch who seem to take an interest in Liberty, much to her dismay. Can Liberty and Sam’s budding relationship survive a dangerous and possibly deadly situation?

Liberty is so much more than the superficial socialite that people mistake her for. Constantly judged for her looks, Liberty keeps men at a distance until she meets Sam. He’s the first man who has treated her as more than just a pretty face and hasn’t made her feel objectified. Liberty is so drawn to the smart, sure, and hard-working man she gets to know at the ranch, and Sam is also drawn to Liberty. He sees past the makeup and fancy clothes and finds a kind, caring, and grief-torn woman. I like their instant connection and how that connection grows throughout the novella. They seem to really understand each other, and their chemistry is fantastic.

The secondary characters are also really interesting, and I’m eager to learn more about them as they weren’t super developed in this story. The ranch hands, Sam’s aunt, and Sam’s best friend are all compelling characters who help Sam and Liberty. They are dependable and capable, and they clearly care for Sam. I think this says a lot about them and a lot about the kind of man Sam is – a man who inspires loyalty and admiration.

This is a quick novella, and there are parts of the story that I wish were developed a bit more, especially in relation to the intrigue. However, the romance is great, and Liberty and Sam are well-developed. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Kensington Books, and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
