A collection of fun and light-hearted essays that are really easy to listen to. Some of them did feel a little similar after a while, but the author/narrator is a great reader as well as writer, so they were pleasant to listen to and amusing and eye-opening at times. Perfect for 20s-35s women looking for accounts of life's hardest moments that they can relate to.

Whilst I enjoyed this audiobook, I did find it a bit hit and miss for me. Some chapters really spoke to me and others left me cold. It's an easy read though and each chapter (part memoir, part essays) is a different topic so easy skipped if they don't appeal.

Sadly the book expired before I got a chance to download it so I am unable to review it.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me access this title.

I enjoyed the audio book version of Nobody Cares! This memoir borders on experience / self help. I found Anne to be funny and relatable, but at times a little preachy. I thought the book was enjoyable but did not find it to be totally new. Would recommend for a light read that feels like chatting with a friend!

Thanks to ECW Press Audio and NetGalley for a free advanced listening copy of this title. Nobody cares is a series of vignettes from the author's life. I really enjoyed the first few but it was all downhill from there. I just couldn't relate to the author or her situation and found myself struggling to care. It definitely wasn't for me.

Short, messy, emotionally impactful essays on mental health, perseverance, convenient lies we tell ourselves, convenient lies others tell us, feminism, and life in general. I didn't always connect with the issues and concerns Donahue wrote about, but it was always interesting to hear her take on them. She, like all of us, is a flawed human that is a mix of desires, illusions, goals, and contradictions and she did a really good job, as far as I could tell, about showing what being honest with yourself and loving yourself despite your flaws looks like. It was really interesting to get to know Donahue in all her messy humanity.

Nobody Cares by Anne T. Donahue was an informative and insightful audiobook read by the author herself. I can relate to Anne in many ways and having someone agree with my thoughts and put them into words so beautifully was refreshing! It felt like listening to a favorite podcast and I finished it in one day!

I thought this book was a good reflection on Donahue's past, with insightful comments and anecdotal situations she has found herself in. It is definitely a coming-of-age novel that I would recommend to teenagers about to become adults, recent college grads and everyone who's finding adulting a little bit challenging. I personally didn't like the narrative voice of the essays, as they seemed a bit unfocused and I felt like they were a bit juvenile still, but I thought Donahue had plenty of useful life lessons from each one of the essays that could benefit people.

I was always taught that if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all.

I chose this book based on the cover which I loved. Turns out 'don't judge a book by it's cover' works on both the positives and negatives.

This was not a book. It was basically a blog regurgitated and didn't warrant being published in my opinion.

Sorry!

I'm glad I listened to this one on audio. This was a quick listen. Though it was a bit hit or miss for me, I can appreciate the author's honesty about her failures and successes in life on her way to where she currently is. I wasn't familiar with the author or her podcast prior to listening to this book, but I think most people will identify with bits here and there. And the cover? Awesome.

I enjoyed Anne’s honest reflections of herself and her past! I think the memoir is a great coming of age read about growing up and into the person you want to be. I loved her sense of humor. As a former Catholic and person who struggles with mental health, I enjoyed the way she was able to provide humor to those heavy topics. Need to buy a copy!

Not really my sort of book, read it to the end and left me wondering what on earth the message was. Maybe just for young people, but as a mother and grandmother myself I am at a loss to know why the author ended up so ignorant. Hopefully the book has given her some peace. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook to review.

**Listened to the audiobook**

This book became very repetitive and annoying, very quickly.
I liked the first few chapters, but the more the book went on, the more whiney Anne T. Donahue became. I felt the opening chapters had some really interesting points of view, and intelligent things to say. But the more it went on, the more it just seemed like a rant or a moan.

I didn't enjoy the narrator - usually I like it when the author reads their audiobooks but I found her voice very whinge-y.

Not for me!

Nobody Cares by Anne T. Donahue was a really fun, fast and relatable collection of essays. Perfect for the aging millennial who's just a tad bit cheugy *ahem* moi. With an endless supply of nostalgia, endless references to Titanic and that infamous hand slap on the window ("what does it all mean?!" she cried) and an entire chapter on quitting things as a kid (from piano to t-ball); I really felt like I was having a hilarious Sunday reminiscing with a friend I've never met. I enjoyed the audiobook, read by the author whose voice and inflection leant to the authenticity of her words.

I had a hard time listening to this one. I would have liked it more if it was a physical copy perhaps.
I felt a little preached to, yelled at, etc.

thanks for this ALC!

2.5/5 stars.

I listened to the Audiobook version - this type of book is in need of a relatable, casual voice to read it which is exactly what you get.

Anne T. Donahue's collection of essays covers a wide variety of topics from anxiety to feminism, fashion to grief, and drinking to religion.

It was published in 2018 but (as common with these memoir/self-help hybrid type books) already feels quite dated to that year - with some of its celebrity/TV show mentions, and even the quirky tone and jokes. Although I found that tone a little grating at times, there were good nuggets of advice and interesting anecdotes to keep me reading.

I think the author does well when she goes into depth, but we stay on the surface for most of the book. I appreciated her reflections although overall I wouldn't say it was for me.

I didn't know it at the time, but this book was exactly what I needed to hear (I listened to the audiobook). Normalize not wanting to do things and not feeling bad about it 👏🏻

I listened to the audiobook and immediately went and bought the hard copy to have as a reference for any says I might need a mini pick me up!

This book spoke to me, and the audiobook was the perfect thing; it felt like having a real life pep-talk from a close friend. I couldn’t help but think that I would be friends with Anne (T) Donahue -- From growing up in the GTA, to having a mom who works for the Catholic Church , to 'not being fun' and actively seeking attention and validation from others and happily saying HECK NO to things I don't want to participate in.

It felt like this book was written for me and about me , and I will (gently) force it on everyone who is looking for a fast paced light hearted book suggestion or anyone who might be struggling with a life slump!

This book of essays had some good perspective on anxiety and growing up Catholic. Being an anxious Catholic, it made total sense to me. Anne is a commanding voice with interesting stories. She made a good narrator for her story.

Thank you NetGalley and ECW Press Audio fir access to this ARC.
