MY biggest plus with this book was that you could clearly tell the time and the research that had gone in to writing it.

It was the perfect length with the perfect amount of details aimed at its readership

This is the third of Dan Gutman's series that I've read, and I've really enjoyed them. This is part of Dan Gutman's series of books about historical figures and writes about them as real, down-to-earth people. This one includes all those sorts of little factoids about Amelia Earhart, and was a fun read like the others! This is definitely another fun non-fiction text that we will be adding to our classroom library!

I like this series because they make fun of “what the teacher wants you to know” in the hunt to find the most interesting tidbits about a person. Because the book is designed that way, the reader does not get the normal biography that they would find from any publisher. Instead they get fun information that might only exist in books for adult. For example, until this book I had no idea Amelia wanted to be a doctor, or that she was a nurse. This book is a lot of fun, and if kids have to read a biography, they should try out this book or this series.

I have always told our children stories of Amelia Earhart, so requested this one immediately when I saw it so I could read it with them. This book tells of Amelia’s mysterious disappearance and the various theories as to what exactly happened. What I enjoyed is that the book is set up like a conversation or debate and the author cites specific science and evidence surrounding the theories. This helps children get invested in history and be able to grasp the concept of why this was such a notorious event.

A really interesting concept that my seven-year-old loved! She has read this a couple times and loves the silly writing and the pictures, she would definitely recommend this!

This is part of a series of books that takes a look at historical figures and forgive the pun, brings them down to earth. In this case, we look at the life of Amelia Earhart, and the things she did, but the strange things that happened. Not just that she flew, but how she flew, and what she said about flying.

For example, she was the first female passenger to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. Doesn't sound that important, but at the time, it was the first such event that brought her fame. She said she felt about as important as a sack of potatoes, though.

This book is full of those sorts of little factoids. Things like that she used made her own rollercoaster when her parents didn't want to let her ride on one.

Fun book. It even includes the fact that she took first lady Elenor Roosevelt on a plane ride.
