The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth is a wild ride! Stephen Aston is marrying a much younger woman, one the age of his daughters and we start at the wedding and work backwards learning about his wife with dementia who he has divorced, his daughters Tully and Rachel and how they feel about their soon to be stepmother Heather and what has led to this moment. This novel will keep you on the edge of your seat as Ms. Hepworth spins a tale of family intrigue...each of them have secrets they're not willing to share which lead to the shocking twist at the end of the novel. You won't want to put this one down once you start reading!

Thank you to the author, St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Blown away!! I didn’t know what to expect going into this book. A typical story of an “evil stepmother” and the daughters who hate her, perhaps. Noooo. Instead it’s a story of a family with secrets and a warped view of reality. Starting with a crime committed at a church to the final page, Hepworth keeps you reading. There are so many elements to this story and it keeps you guessing to the very end. Even after reading the book, I’m still wondering “good or evil”.

Fun, fast-paced and filled with rich character development-- Sally Hepworth continues to be one of my favorite authors for a suspenseful read. The Younger Wife is told through multiple viewpoints, and each character is fresh, flawed, and very real. I was pulled into this story and was kept wondering what the outcome would be for the two main mysteries. An amazing page-turner! Sometimes things aren’t quite what they seem...

The Younger Wife, by Sally Hepworth, was an absolute ROMP of a book. I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading it and had trouble putting it aside. A light read, touching on some darker subject matter, The Younger Wife was well written and the characters largely engaging.

I recommend this book for an easy, well written read.

I loved this book, so much different layers of many plot lines tied beautifully together. I thought the book was going to fall down a predictable path of the unreliable narrator, but the author didn't. I flip- flopped many times trying to guess the twist throughout the book, and I was not disappointed.

The ending was a bit wild, leaving readers unsure of the final answer- did he or didn't he? I guess we'll never know the truth.

Stephen Aston is getting married again, and his two daughters, Tully and Rachel, are not happy about it. Stephen's fiancé, Heather, is much younger than him - in fact, she's the same age as Rachel. To add to that, Stephen announces their impending nuptials to Tully and Rachel like it's no big deal that he's still legally married to their mom, Pam. Stephen doesn't see any issue with his new engagement because Pam suffers from dementia that has significantly progressed to the point where she seldom recognizes her own daughters. But, to Tully and Rachel, it's almost like as soon as Pam was admitted to a full-time care facility, Heather and Stephen start their romantic relationship and get engaged only months later. To Tully and Rachel, something is terribly wrong with this picture, and they need to figure out who Heather is and what she is doing with their father.

Once again, Sally Hepworth has impressed me with another amazing domestic thriller. Jumping between Tully, Rachel, and Heather's POVs, the three women tell a story about family, betrayal, and love. While the book begins by setting up Heather as the classic gold-digging younger wife, it quickly pivots and puts the focus on Tully, Rachel, and Heather's relationships to one another and their own drama. I think my favorite part about this book is how strong the character development is in all three women and how none of them are the shining star or quintessential villain, which is unique for a domestic thriller. I have reviewed a handful of Sally's books before, so, if you're a regular reader (hello!), you already know that I just really enjoy Sally's storytelling, which I feel like has only gotten better with each book. The Younger Wife is fast-paced, thrilling, and full of little nuances that will keep you guessing until the very end. I don't really have any complaints about this book other than I wanted a lot more, so I would highly recommend reading The Younger Wife when it comes out on April 5, 2022! And if you just can't wait for The Younger Wife, check out The Good Sister.

At first I didn’t think I’d like this. Thought it would be too simple. Then about a third of the way in it started to get really good. Soon I couldn’t put it down. Definitely worth a try. Thanks NetGalley for pre-Release copy for honest review

I loved this book. Family ties, old lies, the white elephant in the room no one speaks of. Fearless reaction to a ‘gut’ feeling. Women sticking up for each other is a feeling like no other. So many times women are manipulated by their needs: shelter, funds, care, safety, security; these things we have been groomed to believe can only be derived from one source. Lead on ladies.

Great book! Not my favorite by Sally Hepworth (The Good Sister is my favorite of hers- you have to read it if you haven’t yet!), but still a good read! This story follows sisters Tully and Rachel as their father starts a relationship with a younger woman, Heather, even though he is still married to their mother, Pam. Tully and Rachel also have their own things they are working through.. The family dynamics are intricate, and come together nicely at the end.

Sally Hepworth is my favorite author, so I had high expectations and was thrilled to receive an advanced copy! The Younger Wife is the perfect mix of family drama & domestic suspense. The book didn’t immediately grab my attention, but by 1/4 of the way in, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down! The ending is absolutely amazing! I will be telling everyone about this book.

Tully and Rachel are the daughters of Stephen and Pam. Pam has dementia and Stephen has met a younger woman, Heather, who he is in love with and wants to marry her.

I really enjoyed this book up until the end. I'm still trying to digest it. Everyone in this book has major issues and needs/gets therapy. I liked the relationship between the girls and Heather. I felt bad for Pam and I didn't think she should be thrown into some of the family dynamics. Fiona brought nothing to the table for me.

The only other book I've read by Hepworth was "The Good Sister" which I loved. This one was good but the ending just didn't gel for me. I will still read her books, I think she has a real talent.

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's for the chance to read and give an honest review for this book.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Sally Hepworth, and NetGalley for the advance copy of The Younger Wife. I really enjoyed this book. Great character development. Complex family relationships. Lots of questionably reliable narrators. However, I’m a little tired of that plot device, it’s been way overused in fiction the past few years. 4 solid stars. #NetGalley #TheYoungerWife

I love Sally Hepworth! She does not disappoint! Her characters are rich, quirky and somewhat unlikeable. This story explores family dynamics,, a loved ones battle with dementia, and second chances. It was a quick read and thoroughly enjoyable. Sometimes things aren’t quite what they seem.

Tully and Rachel are faced with the awkward task of meeting their father’s new girlfriend at lunch. Their mother Pam has recently been placed in a home due to her worsening Alzheimer’s condition. Their father Stephen has recently started dating Heather, who is younger than his daughters. As Heather and Stephen’s relationship develops, Heather is beginning to have doubts about Stephen. She begins to question their relationship, but Stephen convinces her she has a drinking problem.

The story is told In current time, at the wedding of Heather and Stephen, where some commotion has happened out of sight of the guests the other story line is in the past, leading up to the wedding. The author weaves in details about a secret in Rachel’s past, as well as Tully’s kleptomaniac habits. Each begins to question their past memories when Pamela makes a strange comment at the birthday party for Tully’s son. Does Pamela have a clear memory,or is it the dementia talking? And why did Pamela have a water bottle filled with money? What was she planning?

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

I was craving a good mystery, and The Younger Wife gave me exactly what I was looking for!

Stephen is engaged to Heather…but he’s still married to Pam. Pam has dementia & Stephen is planning to divorce her in order to marry a much younger Heather. Stephen’s two daughters, Tully & Rachel, are not convinced all is as it seems.

This book will have you hooked from the very first page, making it nearly impossible to put down. The pages turn quickly as you realize all of the characters have something to hide. Told from the rotating perspectives of Heather, Tully, & Rachel (and an occasional unknown POV), the seemingly picture-perfect Aston family begins to crumble. The question is, what is true?

Much like one of the main characters, the author has you questioning everything you believe about these characters. You will flip flop your feelings on all of them at some point in the story, which, to me, is the hallmark of a well-executed mystery.

The ending left me a *little* let down, but not insanely so. I wanted something just a bit more jaw-dropping and conclusive. Perhaps, though, the author simply wanted us to stew on the ending of the book & think beyond the ending of what we were given. This would make an excellent book club book—great for discussion.

Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I highly encourage everyone to read this when it comes out in April 2022!

4+ stars

I flew through The Younger Wife in a day. Rachel and Tully are sisters and their mother Pamela suffers from dementia. Their father announced he and Heather (who is younger than his daughters) are getting married after he divorces Pam. Secrets are discovered and motives are questioned.

I loved getting to know Tully and Rachel. I highly recommend reading The Younger Wife.

What do you do when dad announces he is getting married. To a younger woman. And he is still married to mom. Tully and Rachel have secrets too. Rachel is determined to find out the truth. Will there be a wedding?

Stephen is getting g married. But first he has to divorce his wife. His two adult children aren’t thrilled with this, as their mum had dementia. At the wedding someone ends up dead.
The story has an interesting premise, but fell a little flat for me. The motive and decision made at the wedding did nothing seem warranted to me.

Sally Hepworth’s The Younger Wife is the story of a family with lots of secrets. Dr. Stephen Aston is planning on marrying his interior designer, Heather, but there’s one problem, he’s still married to his "first" wife. This well-written book about family secrets, loyalty, friendship, and appearance versus reality will keep you eagerly reading until the surprising end. Make sure you read the Epilogue! I have my fingers crossed for a sequel!
