I am a huge Sally Hepworth fan. This book did not disappoint. I enjoyed hearing the story from the perspective of these three very different women. The story was suspenseful, but believable at the same time. I was intrigued and finished the book pretty quickly. Definitely recommend to any Sally Hepworth fan.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin Press for the opportunity to read and give feedback on this book.
This is a cautionary tale about wolves in sheep clothing. There are five important women in this book and each has a tale to tell and secrets to be revealed. The author has a gift in making the characters come to life. There is a lot of gas lighting involved even us the reader start to doubt our instinct.

Sally Hepworth is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed The Mother-in-law and The Good Sister. Although I highly enjoyed this book as well as the others and devoured it in just two days despite having three preschoolers, which is very unusual for me. I didn't think it was to the caliber of her previous books. I figured out the ending very early in the book and it lacks that element of mystery. Apart from that, the author's writing style is very enjoyable and I particularly enjoyed getting to know Tully and Rachel. I'll be reading her other books until the next one.

The Younger Wife is the second domestic thriller novel I've read by author Sally Hepworth. I was hooked from the very beginning.
I would think it's natural reaction for the daughters, Rachel and Tully, to be appalled by their father's relationship with a woman 29 years younger than him. Even worse, Heather is younger than both of them and their mum is still alive just not mentally there. Is there really a self-serving agenda behind Heather's intentions? Or is their dad Stephen playing a much darker game?
Very intriguing. It was hard to find out their true intentions. Narrators are unreliable so it keeps you guessing until the end.
Thank you NetGalley, publisher St. Martin's Press, and author Sally Hepworth for providing me with advance reader copy that allowed me to review this book. All opinions are voluntary and my own.

The Younger Wife is a psychological suspense novel like none I’ve ever read. The story follows a family dealing with their mother’s dementia and their father’s decision to remarry before his wife is even dead.
Throughout the book you follow untrustworthy narrator to untrustworthy narrator. Who is telling the truth? Whose alcohol consumption is shrouding their recollection of events?
From beginning to end, this book left me guessing.

The Younger Wife was an excellent read. Just when I thought I knew what was what, something would artfully and slightly change to make me question whate xactly I thought I knew.
Stephen, the main character, is really a piece of work, especially given that his current wife is in an assisted living facility for people with dementia. I felt very sorry for her.
if you enjoy family driven sagas, I'd recommend The Younger Wife. You'll be left asking yourself if you were sure you read what you read.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and publisher for an ARC at my request.

Grateful to the author and publisher for letting me read an early copy ! Talk about your dysfunctional family. Every single one of them ! Pam has dementia. Dad finds a new younger woman to love, even though he is still married. Rachel suffered an early trauma in life and her therapy has been to eat / bake her feelings. Tully, well just wow. What a mess. Klepto ! and making her kids anxious. At the wedding there is a violent attack. Who did it ? Is it justified ? Or did they never really know their Dad at all ? Great book as always !

First, thank you to NetGalley and @stmartinspress and @macmillianpublishing for this ARC. The book starts out narrated by an unknown character at the wedding of Stephen and Heather. The wedding quickly turns to bloodshed. There is Heather, the much younger women in Stephen's life. Tully and Rachel, Stephen's daughters and Pam, Stephen's new ex-wife, who lives in a nursing home with dementia. The book then takes a step back to explain the series of events that lead to this moment. What happens after the vows are said? Who is hurt and why? Lastly, who is the narrator? I really enjoyed this book but I felt like it left me hanging at the end. She leaves you with several options of who is guilty but I was waiting for the twist. I felt the ending fell flat. #TheYoungerWife #SallyHepworth #apr2022

4.5 stars rounded up to 5. I have read and enjoyed a few other books by Sally Hepworth, so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of her newest one, due out in April 2022, from NetGalley (big thank you to them and to St. Martin's Press). And it did not disappoint! The Younger Wife is a domestic suspense novel, told from the viewpoint of two sisters, Rachel and Tully, and their father Stephen's fiancee, Heather. Both of the sisters are struggling with their father's decision to marry again, not only because Heather is a bit younger than they are, but mainly because he's still married to their mother (who suffers from dementia). And as per usual in family dramas, all three women and Stephen (and Pam, the wife with dementia) have secrets and struggles that are revealed as the story unfolds.
It starts out at the wedding, and you find out right away that something terrible happens directly after the vows are said, but you don't know exactly what right away. Then it cuts back to a year prior, and goes forward. Hepworth has a way of writing that pulls me in and keeps me turning the pages, and most chapters ended on a note that left me wanting more of that particular viewpoint - but I'd quickly become invested in the next chapter and want more of it when it ended - so I flew through this novel. Occasionally, it would flash forward to another scene from the wedding, which would help tie together the pieces from the past. Those scenes were narrated by an unknown wedding guest, though you do find out who towards the end of the book.
There were several tough issues in this book (kleptomania, emotional eating, miscarriage, rape, abuse), and I cared about most of the characters, especially Rachel. Some of the secrets that were revealed were surprising, though you started to see them coming as the story went on. I thought it was well done, though the ending left me with a few questions (it is mostly tied up, so you aren't left hanging, but made me question several things I had thought I was sure about and just left me wondering, which is frustrating). If not for the ending, I would give it a full 5 stars, but I knocked off a half star due to the questions I still have. But overall, I loved this page turner and definitely recommend it and look forward to Hepworth's next one.

This book was a solid four stars for me, right until the end. I’m rounding up to four because I could not put it down. We begin at the wedding of Stephen Aston, a mature successful heart surgeon, and Heather, his interior designer and younger than his daughters. His prior wife Pam has advanced dementia, she attends the wedding with their daughters, Rachel and Tully. There is a shocking event at the wedding and then we're taken back to the prior year or so and propelled through the story by alternating narratives from Heather, Rachel, and Tully. This structure is almost always a page turner for me and Hepworth keeps it going with well drawn characters, their slowly unfolding histories, and a suspenseful plot. The Aston family has hidden trauma and everyone has a dark secret. I felt somewhat gaslit by the ending but it’s a solid domestic suspense novel and I enjoyed the ride. This was my first Sally Hepworth book but I’ll be adding her to my TBR. Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy - opinion is my own.

The Younger Wife is the latest book from author Sally Hepworth. I've read and enjoyed most of her previous work, and I was thrilled to get an early copy of this one from NetGalley. A mix of family drama and suspense, this out-of-order novel makes for a great guessing game. You know from early on that someone is attacked or hurt at a wedding. Was it the new or former wife? The groom? One of his adult daughters? The mysterious guest we know little about... so much to keep readers wondering what's going on behind the scenes.
The characters are fantastic in this novel. Each has flaws, and they all make you want to root for them, except possibly the patriarch. Jury is out on him from the beginning. Is he abusive? Or is it all being misunderstood? I suppose someone could fall a few times, misread a situation where someone's trying to help you but it appears like they hit you. I'm not giving away spoilers here... this is the premise of the story. A 65-70 year old man introduces his grown daughters to his new fiancée; the only problem, he's still married to their mother. She's suffering from dementia and in an institution / facility to watch over her. She claims she was abused and hates him too. The daughters don't like the new girlfriend at first, but she grows on them by midbook.
At the wedding, we see everything climax, especially after the history of the mysterious guest is revealed, as well as the long-lost memories of the daughters and the first wife. Now the second wife is remembering what happened to her too, when she visits her father in prison. How is it all connected? I was worried it would disappoint, but the ending is apropos given all that we learn. Definitely had a few strange elements and I wish we had a definitive conclusion as to the patriarch's true sense of character. Lots to consider, possibly open to interpretation... that said, it is a dramatic one. 4.25 stars!

First, thank you Net Galley for this awesome read The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth. Hepworth did not disappoint!! This book is not released until April, but be sure when you buy it you have a day just to read because you will NOT want to put it down. The story catches you from the first chapter with a wedding. A wedding that ends abruptly leaving the reader in suspense right from the beginning. The three main women, Tully, Rachel, and Heather all intertwine to make a great thriller. Tully is a kleptomaniac, Rachel has a food addiction, and Heather is going to marry their father. Stephen is dad and soon to be husband who is still actually married to Rachel's and Tully's mother Pam who had dementia. THe suspense builds as the reader is left to wonder if Stephen is actually the man and successful surgeon he appears to be. Hepworth allows the reading into the minds of Tully, Rachel, and Heather. While waiting for this novel to be released, be sure to read other books by Hepworth. You will not be disappointed.

This is what I call a clever book. It’s so obvious what’s happening in this book but is it really?
Steven’s wife Pam has dementia, And they have divorced. The story starts with him really what is future wife Heather. She is the younger wife and one of 3 that share their story viewpoints.
The lives of the daughters and their reaction to the upcoming marriage make up the majority of the story.I love the details of each character especially Tully. Both Tully and Rachel have secrets that come out that they need to work through.
I took my time reading the book and really enjoyed it. The ending made a lot of sense. Well written book ! Thanks netgalley for the opportunity to read and review

Stephen Aston is getting married to a younger woman, but he's still married to his first wife, Pam, who is living with dementia in a nursing home. Tully and Rachel Aston, his daughters, are less than thrilled about the situation. Their mother becomes the key to a host of family secrets Rachel seeks to unfold, one of which is who their father really is.
This was my second Sally Hepworth read and it was pretty good. I loved the dynamic between the two sisters, Rachel and Tully and was immediately hooked in the beginning of the book. As the book goes on, the main characters’ pasts start to unfold. I thought this was going to be more of a thriller, but it really wasn’t that. It was really just the story of a family. The end did leave me a little disappointed as I felt it should have ended differently; instead I was left with an unsettled, sad feeling.

I enjoy this writer's novels haven't read this book yet but hope to.
Her novels deal with romance and mystery which is detrimental to a reader.

This book will have you questioning everything you think you know to be true. It is extremely well written and the characters are engaging and with the story told from multiple different points of view it is a very quick easy read. I would definitely recommend this book!

I just reviewed The Younger Wife by Sally Hepworth. #NetGalley
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be published April 5, 2022.
This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed it! Lots of family secrets and dysfunction. Short chapters and solid plot made for a quick read.

Tragedy has struck at Stephen Astons wedding to his much younger bride Heather. Who’s hurt? Are they dead or alive? Who’s to blame? Follow along with the events that lead up to the wedding as Heather is introduced to Stephen’s two adult daughters Tully and Rachel and while Stephen divorces his current wife Pam, who is living at a care facility for dementia.
Everyone has their past and secrets they are faced with and have to overcome but will it lead someone to violence?

I must say I have a bit of mixed feelings about their book, don’t get me wrong I like it but the ending while I wasn’t expecting it left me with a couple questions, and I almost wish it ended how I imagined.
I really enjoyed the writing style how it was mostly the events leading up to and the odd bit of current events added in.
I liked the book overall don’t get me wrong but I’m thinking about it and almost feel like I missed something and that’s why I’m left with questions.

Thank you to @NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for a honest review.

3.5 stars! I loved the short chapters and alternating narrators but this was definitely more family drama/mystery than thriller. I really enjoyed the first 75% of this book but then it lost me a little and I didn’t like the ending. While it wasn’t my favorite Sally Hepworth book, I will still gladly read anything she puts out. Thanks so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

I really liked this book- I read a lot of thrillers/domestic suspense, and most of them are not very memorable, but this one was better than most and I will definitely remember the twist at the end.
