I am huge Sally Hepworth fan. That being said, I did not think this was her best work. I couldn't connect with the female protagonists, and I felt very conflicted about the male protagonist. The sisters who are grappling with their father's new wife are believable in their responses, but both of them are unusual which I think is why it was hard to connect with them. The ending was surprising and well written but left you with a strange feeling. I would have wanted there to be additional resolution with that much of a surprise.

I enjoyed this book. Though I was left with questions at the end which may have been the point. I liked Tully and Rachel’s characters and appreciated Heather and her back story. Overall it was a fast read and I liked it but not as much as The Good Sister.

I loved this story! The characters were really written well and developed wonderfully. This was a hinge tasting premise and I couldn’t put it down. I just had to know how it would all end! Highly recommended.

This one started me guessing right off the bat and I was anxious to see where the story was heading. I empathized with Tully and Rachel, seeing that they each carried their own secrets and things they needed to work through. Blown away!! I didn’t know what to expect going into this book. A typical story of an “evil stepmother” and the daughters who hate her, perhaps. Noooo. Instead it’s a story of a family with secrets and a warped view of reality. Starting with a crime committed at a church to the final page, Hepworth keeps you reading. There are so many elements to this story and it keeps you guessing to the very end. Even after reading the book, I’m still wondering “good or evil”.

Fun, fast-paced and filled with rich character development-- Sally Hepworth continues to be one of my favorite authors for a suspenseful read. The Younger Wife is told through multiple viewpoints, and each character is fresh, flawed, and very real. I was pulled into this story and was kept wondering what the outcome would be for the two main mysteries. An amazing page-turner! Sometimes things aren’t quite what they seem...

The Younger Wife, by Sally Hepworth, was an absolute ROMP of a book. I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading it and had trouble putting it aside. A light read, touching on some darker subject matter, The Younger Wife was well written and the characters largely engaging.

I recommend this book for an easy, well written read.

I loved this book, so much different layers of many plot lines tied beautifully together. I thought the book was going to fall down a predictable path of the unreliable narrator, but the author didn't. I flip- flopped many times trying to guess the twist throughout the book, and I was not disappointed.

The ending was a bit wild, leaving readers unsure of the final answer- did he or didn't he? I guess we'll never know the truth.

Stephen Aston is getting married again, and his two daughters, Tully and Rachel, are not happy about it. Stephen's fiancé, Heather, is much younger than him - in fact, she's the same age as Rachel. To add to that, Stephen announces their impending nuptials to Tully and Rachel like it's no big deal that he's still legally married to their mom, Pam. Stephen doesn't see any issue with his new engagement because Pam suffers from dementia that has significantly progressed to the point where she seldom recognizes her own daughters. But, to Tully and Rachel, it's almost like as soon as Pam was admitted to a full-time care facility, Heather and Stephen start their romantic relationship and get engaged only months later. To Tully and Rachel, something is terribly wrong with this picture, and they need to figure out who Heather is and what she is doing with their father.


Once again, Sally Hepworth has impressed me with another amazing domestic thriller. Jumping between Tully, Rachel, and Heather's POVs, the three women tell a story about family, betrayal, and love. While the book begins by setting up Heather as the classic gold-digging younger wife, it quickly pivots and puts the focus on Tully, Rachel, and Heather's relationships to one another and their own drama. I think my favorite part about this book is how strong the character development is in all three women and how none of them are the shining star or quintessential villain, which is unique for a domestic thriller. I have reviewed a handful of Sally's books before, so, if you're a regular reader (hello!), you already know that I just really enjoy Sally's storytelling, which I feel like has only gotten better with each book. The Younger Wife is fast-paced, thrilling, and full of little nuances that will keep you guessing until the very end. I don't really have any complaints about this book other than I wanted a lot more, so I would highly recommend reading The Younger Wife when it comes out on April 5, 2022! And if you just can't wait for The Younger Wife, check out The Good Sister.

I loved this book. Family ties, old lies, the white elephant in the room no one speaks of. Fearless reaction to a ‘gut’ feeling. Women sticking up for each other is a feeling like no other. So many times women are manipulated by their needs: shelter, funds, care, safety, security; these things we have been groomed to believe can only be derived from one source. Lead on ladies.

Great book! Not my favorite by Sally Hepworth (The Good Sister is my favorite of hers- you have to read it if you haven’t yet!), but still a good read! This story follows sisters Tully and Rachel as their father starts a relationship with a younger woman, Heather, even though he is still married to their mother, Pam. Tully and Rachel also have their own things they are working through.. The family dynamics are intricate, and come together nicely at the end.

Sally Hepworth is my favorite author, so I had high expectations and was thrilled to receive an advanced copy! The Younger Wife is the perfect mix of family drama & domestic suspense. The book didn’t immediately grab my attention, but by 1/4 of the way in, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down! The ending is absolutely amazing! I will be telling everyone about this book.

Tully and Rachel are the daughters of Stephen and Pam. Pam has dementia and Stephen has met a younger woman, Heather, who he is in love with and wants to marry her.

I really enjoyed this book up until the end. I'm still trying to digest it. Everyone in this book has major issues and needs/gets therapy. I liked the relationship between the girls and Heather. I felt bad for Pam and I didn't think she should be thrown into some of the family dynamics. Fiona brought nothing to the table for me.

The only other book I've read by Hepworth was "The Good Sister" which I loved. This one was good but the ending just didn't gel for me. I will still read her books, I think she has a real talent.

This book starts with a mystery, then goes back in time to develop the characters, and holds up to the burning questions of what happened, and to whom?

The characters are believable. Dad, Steven is obliviously happy in his little bubble with the much younger Heather, who has her own issues and insecurities. Tully has secrets, and is a total wreck. Rachel is a mystery her own family hasn’t tried to solve, as they’re all self absorbed. Mom is talking , but is anyone really listening?

I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy a slower, even pace. Once I got into it, I found it hard to put down. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.

This book had me hooked from beginning! It doesn't stop through the whole story, it left me wanting more and more. I thought I had it solved but by the end I just.was not sure what to believe!! Thanks for a great read, I will share with my friends!

I love Sally Hepworth! She does not disappoint! Her characters are rich, quirky and somewhat unlikeable. This story explores family dynamics,, a loved ones battle with dementia, and second chances. It was a quick read and thoroughly enjoyable. Sometimes things aren’t quite what they seem.
