Finlay and Vero are back at their shenanigans! When someone puts out a contract to murder Finlay’s ex-husband Steven, the duo set out stop the killer(s) before they strike. Of course, in true Finlay fashion, they come across conflict after conflict along the way.

After reading (and loving) book one in this series, I feel that this one had a much slower start. Although there was humor in it, I didn’t find it as funny. The plot was very far-fetched but it works considering that’s the whole point of the story.
Towards the last quarter of the book, things really pick and I enjoyed the crazy ride to get to the end. Will we get another book after the last couple lines?? I’ll guess we’ll have to wait and see!

I have been looking forward to this sequel and it did not disappoint; I finished the book in an afternoon. The first book ends with Finlay learning that someone has put a contract out on her ex-husband, Steven. This book focuses on the efforts of Finlay and Vero to figure out the identity of the mystery person, while trying to keep Steven safe, which becomes much harder when someone responds to the online post offering to take the job. Steven and Finlay are battling over custody of their children and because Finlay knows about the threat to Steven's life, she wants to keep the children away from him, but cannot tell him why, which only infuriates him. If the issues with Steven were not enough, (1) Finlay is supposed to be providing her agent with a proposal for her next book, but she is dealing with writer's block; (2) Finlay is having issues with Julian, her law student boyfriend; (3) Nick, the hot cop, is back in the picture; and (4) Vero is hiding secrets that may prove costly. The story has plenty of mystery and suspense, but also plenty of humor. The book ends with a new problem to resolve, as well as a hint that the reader will learn more about Vero's backstory, setting up the third book in the series.

I received a copy of the e-book via NetGalley in exchange for a review.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

"Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead" is the sequel to "Finlay Donovan Is Killing It". At the end of the first book, we find out that there is much more to the story than we thought. Someone wants Finlays ex- husband dead and it is up to Finlay to find out who it is to save him and make sure her kids have their dad around. She dives deep into the dark web to find out who wants him dead. There are multiple suspects and the one at the end was not the one I had picked out.. Full of the same familiar humor as the first book and the same loveable characters, this book is as good as the first one.
If you enjoyed the first book, you're sure to like this one as well.

Another super fun ready by Elle Cosimano! I love this female friendship positive series with real life relationship woes mixed in with organized crime. I recommend the first installment often so glad the 2nd is just as good.!

Special thanks to Netgalley and St. Martins Press for the Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.

Finlay is up to her tricks again in this second installment! The hilarious Finlay and Vero get roped into trying to figure out who put a bounty on Stevens head. Quickly, Finlay and Vero realize they are looking at something much larger than a bounty. Mix in the mob, Detective Nick, and various other trouble makers and you have yourself a hilarious story! Kept me guessing until the end! I always enjoy laughing out loud at Findlay, her friends, and all of the messes she gets herself into!

I enjoyed being back with Finlay, but the end felt messy with the addition of one too many characters, and the plot felt a little rushed. In the end, a seriously fun 4 star read that is a great second addition to this series!

In the sequel to Finlay Donovan Is Killing it, Finlay and her live-in nanny Vero try to stop a hit on her ex-husband.

I was so happy to be back with Finlay and Vero. The characters are their same hilarious selves, with the same secondary characters, but whole new adventures. I don’t think I loved it quite as much as the first but it was still a great read; clever, funny, and a page turner. There was also plenty of room left for a third book, which I’ll be waiting anxiously for!

“The one piece of advice no one ever gives you when you divorce is never take a shower when all the towels are in the laundry. I’m pretty sure it’s right up there with check to make sure there’s toilet paper before pulling down your pants and never accept an offer to murder your ex while using public Wi-Fi.

Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead comes out 2/1.

Elle Cosimano does it again!

The second in the Finlay Donovan series was so good y’all! I literally devoured it. I laughed and had a few gasps. There was a moment with Nick that I ALMOST thought something bad was going to happen and I got extremely annoyed 🤣. Thankfully it didn’t happen and I fell even more in love with him.

I love that this totally ended with the hopes of another. I need more Finlay in my life! I can’t get enough of her and Vero’s friendship! My only wish I that we all have a Vero in our lives.

Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead has the laugh out loud humor as it did in Book 1. We're reunited with the same cast of characters we fell in love with, but the story is definitely more intimate with Finlay and her decision making than ever before and I really enjoyed this one. You can definitely see how this series will make for a perfect television series and I can't wait to see what's in store for Finlay Donovan Book 3.

FINLAY DONOVAN IS BACK!

Finlay Donovan is Killing It is a book I have been recommending to people ever since I read it back in March! It is filled with humour, relatability, and a lot of ‘who done it’ situations.

Needless to say I was so thrilled when I was given the opportunity to read & review the second book, Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em dead. @ElleCosimano has done it again folks! Finlay is back and better than ever. With Vero by her side, Finlay will do anything she can to protect her family. This book is all about keeping her loved ones safe and the extent that moms will go to keep their kids out of harms way.

Thank you so much to @minotaur_books & @ElleCosimano for the advanced copy of this book. Get your pre-orders in now, because I have a feeling this one is going to sell out quickly when it hits shelves on February 1, 2022. If you haven’t read the first one yet, I highly recommend checking it out!

Cosimano does it again! The first book in this series ended up being one of my favorites of 2021. I knew I had to get my hand on a copy of the sequel. This one is every bit as entertaining, humorous, and fun as the first book!

3 Things I Loved About This Book:

1) Finlay! You know when the main character clicks for you? For me, that's Finlay Donovan. Sure, she's disorganized, disheveled, and always finds trouble (aka a hot mess), but she's sarcastic, bright, and creative, too. Plus, I dig a character with a wicked sense of humor.

2) The humor! After reading some heavy-hitting books this year, the spirit I found in this book was a breath of fresh air. Finlay & Vero's shenanigans entertained me to no end.

3) No spoilers here, but the identity of a certain women's forum user wasn't who I thought it would be. What an awesome twist at the end! Small surprises make a story that much better.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for my ARC ♥️

She did it again. Was it a bit more solemn than the first one? Yes. But it was also written during a pandemic so I can’t blame the author one bit. The setup for book 3? Undeniable. And I can’t wait.

It will be worth your wait and anticipation.

This series is just so much fun I don’t even know where to start. I absolutely loved FINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT and this follow up did not disappoint.

Author and single mother Finlay Donovan didn’t set out to become an accidental hitman, it just happened. But after dealing with what she really hoped was her last dead body, Finlay has just discovered someone has put out a hit on her ex-husband. As much as she might not want to live with anymore, she’s pretty sure her kids would prefer him to live, and that’s enough of a reason to try and stop the hit.

Finlay once again teams up with her live-in-nanny/confident Vero to follow the clues all while trying to avoid attracting any suspicion from her mother, her ex, her police officer sister and her two love interests. Not to mention all the bad guys.

Cosimano’s voice is so unique and I love how flawed her characters are while still being relatable. This book is non-stop from the first page and moves quickly through to the end with whip smart writing that is funny as hell.

FINLAY DONOVAN KNOCKS ‘EM DEAD comes out February 1, 2022 and I highly recommend it. But make sure you read the first book before you pick this one up.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press & Minotaur Books for the advance reading copy.

Well, that was fun! The cliffhanger at the end of book one had me eagerly anticipating this book, and it did not disappoint. Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead picks up not long after the first book ends. This time Finlay and Vero face a whole new set of problems where the dynamic duo get themselves into all kinds of trouble. From there let the shenanigans begin!

This book has a little bit of everything. It's part mystery, it's humorous, and it has a little romance thrown in with Finlay's little love triangle with Nick and Julian. I went into this book expecting a fun, over-the-top read and that is exactly what I got. Vero's character continues to be a favorite of mine with her wicked sense of humor and fierce loyalty to Finlay and her kids. Although I liked the plot of the first book better, this was still a really enjoyable read. Bring on book number 3. 4 stars!

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Finlay Donovan is Killing It has been one of the books that I have recommended the most in the last six months since I read it. It had mystery, it had hijinks, and I feel for how unrealistic it felt was incredibly relatable for life with little kids. It was the little shot of whimsy and joy that everyone could get behind.

In FINLAY DONOVAN KNOCKS 'EM DEAD I feel like we get a bit less of "mom-life" hijinks and a little more of Finlay's life as an ex-wife and single woman. The plot centers around Finlay discovering someone put up a request for a hit-person to take out her ex-husband on a mommy-but-really-run-by-the-Russian-mob forum (as one does). And is using her "detective" skills to figure out who hates him enough to want him dead (unsurprisingly, a good amount of people) and uncovering more mob drama along the way. I wish we got a little more from Detective Nick but overall we get to dive a bit more into Finlay's circle and the characters introduced in the first book. The entire second half I never wanted to put down (but will say that the ending felt a bit short to the outlandish theories I had dreamt up in the reading that I hoped would manifest).

I will say I don't think I enjoyed this one as much as the first BUT I think that was mainly because I listened to FDIKI as an audiobook and thoroughly believe this writing voice just SHINES as an oral story because of how infused the humor is. The ending also felt like a big red sign flashing "THIRD BOOK" so I am so excited to continue with Finlay and Vera and Nick and all their shenanigans.

Although I didn't think that this book was as excellent as the first, it did entertain me, keep me engaged, and kept me laughing and wondering.

I find it interesting that the themes seem similar to that of author Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series. So if you are a lover of that series, you will most likely love this one also.

The primary and tertiary female characters are always getting into trouble somehow. Finlay is finding herself in a three-way romantic situation (but that may change soon), and Vero has done something that I wouldn't forgive all that readily. On the other hand, the idea of someone wanting Finlay's husband dead was an interesting one and kept me guessing.

Unfortunately, we do end on a tiny bit of a cliff-hanger. Not enough of a one to rally tick me off, but just enough to know that there will be more books and that Finlay is no longer her own person.

*ARC is provided by the publisher, Minotaur/Macmillan Books, the author, and NetGalley. Thank you very much.

Having retired from her life as an accidental hitman, Finlay Donovan is trying to finish writing her novel while being a single mom to her two kids. There’s just one problem - someone has put out a hit on her ex-husband, Stephen, which threatens his life as well as the safety of her children. Finlay has no choice but to step.

This is an absolute must read for those who loved the first book! Sometimes you need to just put aside being realistic and have a good laugh. This book is equally as ridiculous as the first and just as fun! I laughed out loud and completely enjoyed the ride!

Finlay freaking Donovan, what kind of shenanigans did you get yourself into this time?? I absolutely LOVEEEEEEE this character because she keeps me on my toes the entire book.

This series is such a page turner. I could not wait to see how things would play out with each chapter. It’s so addicting. And there were so many moments where I was just like ahhh!! I hope she remembers this or that…always a little anxiety when reading about Finlay’s life- but in a good way. 😂

So much happens in this sequel. This one has the same writing style as the first so if you enjoyed the first one you will definitely love this one. I loved the same quirky humor of Finlay and her partner in crime, Vero. You get to see more of Veros character here which was nice. Everyone had a little character growth that I really enjoyed. Nick and Juilens personality shows more in this one- I love a good love triangle.

There were a couple twists but nothing major to me. I was just along for the ride and enjoying every second of it.

All in all I loveddddd it so much. The book ends on a cliffhanger but not as extreme as the cliffhanger in book 1. I definitely cannot wait to see how the next book plays out!! Highly recommend if you like funny murder mysteries!

Finlay Donovan is at it again in this sequel to Finlay Donovan is Killing it. With many of the same beloved characters from the first novel, this book continues on where the first left off. The mystery continues and Finlay is up to her mystery-crime-solving-writing shenanigans again!

I loved this fun book. Ms. Cosimano has such a great sense of humor and I found myself laughing out loud time and time again. Of course this book isn't "realistic" and you shouldn't read it that way! Read this book if you loved her first book, if you have a sense of humor, and if you appreciate a good mystery.

I highly recommend this book, but read the first in the series first as it continues on from the first book.

Special thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Finlay does it again!

This was hands down one of my most anticipated sequels, and I literally squealed when I saw NetGalley approved me for the title! (Thank you NetGalley!)

There were a lot of things I liked about this book, but most importantly - I truly felt it was right on par with the first in the series, which is surprisingly hard to come by.
I think there were less laugh out loud moments, but there were more suspenseful moments to balance out the two (there is a character involved that I really do not think I trust....and I'm hoping we get more of that in book 3!)

I'm think I may get my wish for book 3, based on Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead giving us more characters, more drama, more storyline and...even more love!
I've never read a comedic, romantic thriller like this before and I am looking forward to more and more from Elle Cosimano.

I only got approved for this NetGalley a few days ago, but I just couldn't resist. The first Finlay Donovan installment was a blast and a half, and this follow-up proved to be no different. The entire thing was a total joy ride from start to finish—equal parts messy, funny, sassy and mysterious. While the plot (and Finlay's series of narrow escapes) does require a bit of a suspension of disbelief, I think most readers would be more than happy to oblige. The ending is perfectly set up for a third book full of misadventures, and I truly cannot wait.
