Finlay is back, with another book due, Vera acting weird, and someone has a target on Stephen's back, and her children are NOT visiting their dad until it is safe to do so, and only Finlay seems likely to make that happen - especially as she can't tell anyone how she came by this nefarious information.... This means more investigation by a non-investigator, more offers for her special hit woman skills, more interaction with Detective Nick, and overall general mayhem and chaos. A great time is had by all. Well, except for the bad guys. With a priceless little twist toward the end.
This was fun, but not quite as funny as the first in the series. All the popular characters are there and show growing development rather than falling into caricature, but the humor here is leaning more toward slapstick. Great action scenes and burgeoning romance. Looking forward to the next one.

I look for a good time when I read these books and I get it every time. Although dang Finlay makes way too many excuses for that dirtbag Steven!!! I am a Vero supporter 110%.

iFnlay Donavan is trying to save her ex from being offer by a stranger while also working on her writing deadline that is looming over her. This book was better than the first. I love the character of Finlay. She's such an original hilarious character that brings the reader along on her crazy hair brain schemes.

I absolutely loved Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead. The story continues but there is enough review that you can read it as a standalone (but you should definitely not do that). We get to know the characters even better. Finlay and Vero get up to more hijinks and hilarity, and they're once again unraveling mysteries, trying to outsmart the Russian mob, and keep everyone alive and fed in the process. Some mysteries are solved, some the plot thickens, but one thing remains the same - when I finished it, I was immediately ready for more.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this stunner of a book. All opinions are my own.

5 out of 5 stars.

This series is pure genius. I can’t get enough of Finlay and Vero. The author puts them in the funniest and scariest situations, and yet they manage to come through it all ok. Reading the book is an adventure with many laugh out loud moments.

I have wanted to read this series for a while, and when I saw that the series was Read Now on NetGalley I decided it was time to give it a go. Finlay Donovan is a writer who is mistaken for a hitman and hijinks ensue with her nanny Vero. These books were perfect popcorn mysteries for me. I laughed, I was intrigued by the mystery aspect and I had a good time reading them! A perfect read when I needed something I didn’t have to think too hard about!

Finlay and Vero are trying to find out who wants Finlay's ex-husband, Steven, dead. Between the Russian Mob, Steven's ex-girlfriends, chest freezers, and avoiding the police, a lot is happening throughout the story.

True to the first book in the series this one is full of chaos and ridiculous events. Finlay continues making questionable choices, but it seems to work out for the most part.

Another quick and easy read. On to book #3!

Finally Donovan Knocks "Em Dead has Finlay in even more outlandish situations. In the second book of the series, Finlay, is trying to protect her no good ex-husband from contract killers while trying to write a book, care for her children, stay on the right side of the law, and juggle her love life. The characters are well written and the plot keeps you turning the pages. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the gifted copy.

I continue to enjoy this series and laugh out loud at the ridiculous situations Finlay and vero get themselves in. Continuing to accidentally find dead bodies and putting themselves in situations where they can get killed.

This series is such a hit for me. The mix of always seeing the things Finlay gets into and how she gets out, the mystery, and the romance is always just perfect. I’m laughing, I’m intrigued, I’m yelling. It’s just always a good time. Her husband in this book though. I’d have probably slapped him across the head for being so blind to what was going on around him lol. Interested to see how the rest of the series plays out and who "easy clean" is. And the ending of the last book where we find out who "fed up" was, did not see that one coming.

Book 2 in the Finlay Donovan series and Elle Cosimano does it again. Finlay has to work to keep her ex-husband alive while writing her next book and being a single mother. Make sure to read it!

Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead by Elle Cosimano

Finlay is back struggling to finish her next book and keeping her head above water with her two young kids. To top it off, someone wants her ex husband Steven dead. With the help of her live in nanny, Vero, Finlay goes about trying to find out who wants her ex husband dead and write her next book.

I really liked this book! There were many laugh out loud moments. I enjoyed the cozy mystery and going through Finlay’s thought process to trying to find out who wants her ex husband Steven dead. The story kept me interested and invested in the characters. The plot twist at the end I did not see coming. I honestly can’t wait to see what happens with Finlay, Vero, Julian and Nick.

The narration was great.

This is the second book in the Finlay Donovan series.

Finlay and Vero have another contract killing to investigate and this time, the target is Finlay’s ex. With Julian away for a week, Finlay questions their laidback relationship. When hot cop Nick returns to woo Finlay again, she struggles to turn him away. Trying to balance working on her next book, her love life, Vero’s mysterious past, and keeping the kids and her ex safe, Finlay is once again in over her head…

These books are wild and funny. I have a soft spot for Nick, especially when he interacts with Finlay’s kids, but Julian is the one who knows the full truth about Finlay’s past, which makes this love triangle complex. I enjoyed all the twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end.

I’m really looking forward to the next book in series.

Thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for their December Read Now promo providing the backlist books in preparation to read the ARC of Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave.

Starting just after the first book ended, this one is chock full of the same humor, more complications (including the Russian mob again!), writer's block (though the new hijinks help in the end!), and of course another dead body landing in Finlay and Vero's car. I really love this series and am very ready for the next one! This is quite entertaining both as a novel and an audiobook.

And on a side note, I really want to read the two new books that Finlay is writing!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC digital copy. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions are my own.

3.5 stars out of 5 stars and my continued respect to the author.

Not nearly as enjoyable as the first Finley book, but my opinion is likely skewed due to the fact that I read them back-to-back. I will continue to read the series, just not in close succession of another.

Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead is the second mystery in the Finlay Donovan series. At the end of the last book Finlay found a post with a hit out on her ex husband, now it’s her job to make sure it doesn’t happen and her kids stay safe. With her crazy usual antics, Finlay is doing her best to keep her head above water, finish her next novel and keep her ex husband alive even though sometimes she might be better off with him gone. What will Finlay and Vero get up to this time while they dole out their vigilante justice and try to stay out of trouble themselves?

This series is a funny, lighthearted escape from reality with a mystery tied in. I love Finlay and the crazy things she gets up to. She’s loyal, but bumbling as she tries to put the pieces together and keep everyone safe. This book is similar to the first and has the great comic relief tied in with twists and turns you don’t see coming. I was left guessing on how everything tied together until the end as well as guessing at what crazy stunt Finlay and Vero would try next. If you are looking for a funny mystery read look no farther than this series. I can’t wait to read the next installation!

Great second installment in the series. Good pacing. Went back and forth between reading and listening. Good on audio. The bits on motherhood and marriage are just so real. Well done. Leaves you wanting more. Can’t wait to dive into the next book! Thank you to Elle Cosimano, Net Galley and Minotaur Books for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another amazing book in the Finaly Donovan series. I'm so glad that I finally had a chance to discover this series by Elle Cosimano. Finlay is really a character that you can root for, and the friendship she has with Vero continues to grow. Can't wait to see what's up next for these two!
