I'm so excited that Finlay was back in this witty, hilarious quirky sequel. Where Finlay is back making bigger messes to clean up her messes she made. This was a little bit more fast paced then the first and I was all onboard flipping through the pages, laughing seeing what Finlay and Vera got up to. Can't wait to see more of Finlay and what she gets into in the future

Finlay Donovan is back! This time the only dead body she's dealt with is her daughter's goldfish. There is the pesky problem that someone wants her husband dead, but you know Finlay and her pal Vero will find a way to fix that while causing some messes along the way!

I enjoyed Finlay Donovan Is Killing It, but I preferred the second book in the series. I think Finlay has grown as a character in this book, and I liked her personality a bit more. Don't get me wrong. She's still scatter brained and all over the place, and we get into the same kind of trouble we did in book one. There was just something about her that I liked better in this one.

I think Finlay's stories are great for anyone looking for an easy read with some humor and mystery. In book two we see Finlay's ex-husband on the list to be murdered, but who put him on it and why? Finlay's relationship with Steven is complicated, but I do like that she was trying to help him because of their children. We also get to see some of Julian, law school student by day/hot bartender by night and Nick, super hot cop. I enjoy the romance aspects of these books and want to keep reading the series just to see who Finlay will end up with. I will say I was #teamJulian after book one, but now I'm more #teamNick.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

From Edgar-Award nominee Elle Cosimano, comes Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead—the hilarious and heart-pounding follow-up to Finlay Donovan is Killing It.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Minotaur Books for the opportunity to read and review an advanced readers copy of this book. This in no way affects my review, all opinions are my own.

I was so unbelievable excited when I found out I was getting an ARC of this book! The first Finlay Donovan was one of my favorite reads of 2021, and the follow up did not disappoint. This book has the same fast-paced, suspenseful, and hilarious drama that made me love the first one so much. I think I still prefer the first book to this one, but honestly they're both so great I'm not disappointed at all.

I love how all these seemingly small interactions in the book just completely tie the plot together by the end. There's so many jaw-dropping moments that I never saw coming, and a ton of action from Vero and Finlay getting themselves mixed up in more dangerous situations. I love the characters' banter (Vero is definitely my favorite), because it feels so natural and flows so well from person to person. If you're a fan of thrillers with a clever comedic twist, you have to pick up the Finlay Donovan series!

This second in the Finlay Donovan series is a hit! It picks up with Finlay and Vero needing to figure out who, besides Findlay’s family, wants her cheating ex dead. This book has the mob, murder, hit men,, shoot outs, car chases, a couple love interests, friendship, loyalty and family. This is a thoroughly entertaining series! Findlay’s life is a roller coaster ride from one sticky situation to the next! Buckle up and enjoy the ride along with Finlay and Vero!

Finlay Donovan Knocks em Dead by @ellecosimano
Pub date: 2.1.22

Finlay and Vero are the kind of friends I want in my life. No questions asked, have your back, hide spare body parts in your trunk kind of friends. Not that I need help with the last one there, but if I did, I need my people!

I enjoyed the first Finlay novel so much last year and was ecstatic to get to pick this second installment up! It did not disappoint. Finlay is still her hilarious self, attracting madness and danger into her life at every turn. It gives her great content for her books though, so I guess she’s onto something.

I’m so happy this series is continuing! It’s highly entertaining, and one I could easily see made into a TV series. I’m looking at you Netflix.

Thank you so much to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the arc in exchange for my honest review!

And lastly, thank you to @ellecosimano for the laughs! ❤️

Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead by Elle Cosimano is a highly entertaining book full of mystery, murder, and mayhem!

That’s right, Finlay and Vero are back with more of their wild and hilarious antics! While browsing an online women’s forum, Finlay discovers that someone has put a hit out on her ex-husband. So she does what any good mother who doesn’t want her kids to lose their father would do - enlists the help of her bestie, Vero, to find out who wants her ex dead and stop them before it’s too late!

I loved Finlay Donovan Is Killing It so much that I was worried the second book wouldn’t be as good. To my pleasant surprise, this humorous and witty book was even better than the first! Finlay and Vero are such quirky, fun, and lovable characters! I was laughing out loud, shaking my head, and cheering them on! It was the perfect escapist read! I’m already looking forward to the next book because I just can’t get enough of Finlay and Vero’s crazy shenanigans!

Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to review this book! The writing, characters and plot line were all done very well. The only complaint I had; its just simply not as good as the first one. zi thought the first novel in the series had more humor integrated in, more 'this could happen to anyone'. Finlay Donovan Knocks em Dead however seemed forced in some parts, not as fluid as its prior novel. Really wonderful; and creative story however and I loved this world and characters this book created!

Finlay Donovan is back with a bang! Finlay and her nanny-slash-accountant Vero are back for another fun, light-hearted romp of a mystery. The ladies stumble across some cryptic posts on an online message board that seem to be hinting that someone is putting a hit out on Finlay’s ex-husband Steven. Between ex-lovers, business partners, and the mob, there are no shortage of suspects who might want Steven dead. Finlay is determined to get to the bottom of things and do whatever it takes to protect her two small children.

This novel has plenty of shenanigans, as Finlay and Vero find themselves in some crazy predicaments and some implausible situations, but that’s what makes this story so entertaining. Just suspend belief and go along for their wild ride! There’s also some cute light romance as Finlay finds herself torn between a hunky cop and an attractive young law student, but it’s not the main focus, because our fierce and feisty heroine doesn’t need a man to save her.

“Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead” has all the charm of its predecessor, “Finlay Donovan is Killing It”, and while you don’t need to read the first book in the series to enjoy this one, you absolutely should because it’s also delightful. Like the first book, the ending of this new installment also ends on a cliffhanger and leaves the reader wanting more. I already can’t wait for the third book in this series!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an advance copy of this book.

Last year the first novel in this series completely caught me off guard and I had no idea what was coming for me. This time around I had a bit more idea going into this book what it would be like and it was still really enjoyable. Finley is still trapped in the world that she unknowingly walked into in the first book and now she is trying to figure out a. who wants her husband dead and b. who is taking the job.

I think a little bit of the magic is gone from this book since now Finley is a bit more aware of what is going on and that was part of the original charm that she was so oblivious, but I still really enjoyed the relationship between Vero and Finley and the twists and turns that book took.

I am rounding up a bit on this second installment in the Finlay Donovan series. In Book 2 Finlay is faced with another contract hit, but this time on her ex-husband. She has to figure out how to keep him safe, figure out who put the hit out, deal with dead bodies, juggle the young law student and handsome detective, and get some book pages to her agent while avoiding the wrath of a Russian gangster.
The first thing I can say, is that if you haven't read the first book in the series, you will be LOST reading this book. Read Finlay Donovan Is Killing It before you read this book. There are so many characters and plot points from the first book that I even got a bit confused, and I did read Book 1.
I really like Finlay and her madcap adventures, and in the first book in the series, although everything was a bit over the top, I was able to suspend belief and go along for the crazy ride. But for some reason in this book, all of the car chases, dead body parts, impersonations, and close calls were just too much for me, and took away from my ability to enjoy the story. Maybe because in the first book Finlay and Vero had an air of incredulity and "why is this happening to us?!" about everything that made it *kind of* believable, but in this book they just seem to take a deep breath and handle it all without missing a beat, even though some of their decisions are questionable (how do you miss a whole torso in your trunk, and then why would you put it in your washing machine...?). I also wanted a little more out of Finlay's relationships with both Julian and Nick. I know Finlay is realizing she doesn't have to have a man in her life, but these two guys are part of what makes the books so engaging. The resolution of the book was just a bit far-fetched for me, as well. BUT, I was absolutely left wanting to know what would happen next after I read the last sentence.
So, because of all that, I am rounding up from a 3.5 for this book. But it is still a quick, fun read about a very engaging character and all of the crazy things that happen to her. If you enjoyed Book 1, then I would check out Book 2, but just be prepared that you might not enjoy it as much. AND I will definitely read the next book because I do like the characters so much.

Finlay Donovan killed it last year in Cosimano's adult debut. This second installment in a romantic suspense novel centered on a romantic suspense author getting caught up in a steamy and suspenseful plot strains credulity. That said, Finlay & Vero's antics are utterly delightful and it's amazing to see them work through the conflict to get to the final page (mostly) unscathed. The larger plot arc continues to build and the enemy is looming larger in the characters' lives even as he is supposed to be contained.

If you enjoyed the first installment, this is a definite recommendation. For someone fairly unfamiliar with romantic suspense novels/beats/tropes, this is a great series to dive into for an introduction to the genre.

3.75 stars

The second Finlay Donovan adventure is more zany fun with writer/mom/ex-wife Finlay and her friend/accountant/nanny Vero. In the first book, they were mistaken for contract killers through a chain of circumstance too bizarre to be believed.

This time out, the same dark web thread that got them in trouble before seems to indicate that someone is targeting Finlay's ex and the father of her kids. She tries to track them down and avert catastrophe but a firebombing and staged accident make it clear that he is actually in danger.

In the meantime, Vero is nervous about a secret, Russian mob contacts from their first adventure are still lurking, Finlay is still torn between a hot detective and a young lawyer vying for her favors, and her agent is still leaning on her to get her book draft submitted.

Thanks to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The sequel to Finlay Donovan is Killing It was everything that I was hoping for and more! It was fun to dive in already knowing and loving the characters. They were developed well in the first book, but the author did a fantastic job developing their personalities and relationships even further.

Synopsis: A month after being mistaken as a hit woman, Finlay and her nanny, Vero, are back in a normal routine. Other than writer's block, the chaos has subsided and there are no more dead bodies. One day, Finlay stumbles upon a women's forum where she learns that someone wants her ex-husband, Steven, dead, and they're willing to pay a lot of money to make it happen. Steven is a good father to their children and because of secrets in their past, Finlay and Vero decide they need to take matters into their own hands again. Solving the mystery and saving Steven comes becomes even more challenging with Detective Nick Anthony in the picture and when Finlay starts to suspect that Vero is keeping secrets.

I found my heart racing with intensity on many occasions, but then Vero would show up and provide comic relief just in time for another unexpected twist. Some parts were a little unbelievable, but the drama and hilarity of the plot is what sets it apart from other books. This mystery is SO fun and I already can't wait to see what Finlay and Vero get themselves up to next!

I’ve loved @ellecosimano ‘s books for years, so I was thrilled when she had so much success with Finlay Donovan is killing it last year. I read it in December 2020, and I was dying—maybe I shouldn’t use that word when it comes to this series—to read the next book. Book 1 ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead is every bit as fun as the first book. Finlay and Vero get into a ton of crazy shenanigans—maybe even more this time. The themes of the importance of female friendships are strengthened, but we’ve still got a love triangle with the hot young bartender soon-to-be-lawyer Julian and the more age appropriate, but no less hot cop Nick (I’m pretty squarely team Nick this time around, but I remember being team Julian in the last book; the mark of any good love triangle). I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one and loved being back in the world of these characters. In the author’s note, Cosimano says she was writing during Covid and struggled with the comedy during a time when things were so bleak. I wish I could say that time was history, but I’m so glad she persevered because we need books that make us laugh like this one more than ever.

Is this book over the top? Yes. Yes it is. Is everything Finlay and Vero do believable? Not even close. But it’s not supposed to be. This book is ridiculous in the best way and for full enjoyment I suggest surrendering to the ride. The end was a surprise even though I’d had a vague thought in the beginning that I brushed aside, and we’re left with another cliffhanger that has me hankering for book 3.

Thank you so much to @minotaur_books and @netgalley for an e-copy in exchange for an honest opinion. This one comes out Tuesday so it’s eligible for @barnesandnoble 25% off presale sale (it goes through 1/28). What are you waiting for? Go order it now.

I really enjoyed reading the #1st book in series, Finlay Donovan Is Killing It, and I was super thrilled to listen to the second book.

I liked the second book even better than the first as it was full of mystery, wittiness and charm. It is the sequel in its true sense as it refers to many incidences from the first book, but it’s easy to understand even if you haven’t read the first one.

Angela Dawe has done a marvelous job narrating the story. I enjoyed her pitch and voice while listening to the book. Calling out to all of Elle’s fans to check out this book when it releases on Feb 1, 2022.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the #gifted audiobook in exchange of my honest review!

I just finished Finlay Donovan Knocks Em Dead and I had to tell you all about it tonight so you can take advantage of the 25% off preorder at @barnesandnoble and preorder it before it releases on Tuesday! (The preorder discount ends tomorrow).

This book was so much fun! Finlay and Vero are an awesome pair! Honestly, I actually liked this one better than the first book! There were some twists and turns I definitely didn’t anticipate and I loved the end- it perfectly sets up book 3!

I’ve seen some people compare Finlay Donovan is Killing It to the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich- which you all know I LOVE and I didn’t really agree about it in book one but I definitely do see the similarities in book 2- and really, yes, they’re there in book 1 too- I guess I just don’t find the FD books quite as funny as the Stephanie Plum series. But they’re both great series and I love them both!

But I digress. If you liked the first book I think you’ll enjoy this one. It’s a fun mystery that isn’t scary but full of outrageous situations!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Once again Elle Cosimano delivers with a fun, escapist adventure that kept me turning the pages. I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this one as much as the first. There's just nothing quite like it out there and I'm eagerly awaiting the next in the series. I hope Finlay has many more adventures to come!

Finlay Donovan steals my heart yet again with her antics in this stellar follow-up.

MV Rating: 10/10 I never want this series to end.
•Finlay & Vero are back, and trying to figure out who is trying to kill her ex Stephen (cue Kristin Cavallari’s “Stephennnn” from Laguna Beach).
•Right off the back, hijinx ensue, and Finn and Vero are fighting time to beat the killer to his mark. Throw in a dead body, the Russian Mob, and a hot cop, and you’ve got a party!
•There is such a fun and empowering female friendship and independence angle to these stories, and I love it - Finn doesn’t need a hero, she’s got it all under control…. Or at least she’s trying! Love that there’s still romance in here for Finn too, but it’s not the main focus of her life - I think that’s a very empowering message too.
• Can they save Steven, figure out who set him up without incriminating themselves, AND meet her newest book deadline? You’ll have to read to find out.

I’m thoroughly obsessed with Elle Cosimano, and Finlay Donovan. Thank you so much to Netgalley & Minotaur books for the advanced copy!

Finlay Donovan is back! And once again, she is finding herself in all kinds of difficult situations. In this second book in the series, Finlay discovers that someone is out to kill her ex-husband.

Of course, Finlay and her devoted nanny, Vero, set out to find who wants Steven dead. During all of this investigating, Finlay’s agent is breathing down her neck to meet her next book deadline. After a few more dead bodies, some shootouts and car chases, Finlay manages to discover who is involved and get her book written.

Readers will get to know some new characters and learn more about the ones from the first book. Some foreshadowing hints at more adventures ahead for Finlay. Her career is looking up and so is her romantic life.

This was a fun adventure and I’m sure readers will be anxiously awaiting the third book in the series.

Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for allowing me to read an advance copy. I am happy to recommend this book and give my honest review.

If nothing else this book was funny! I am on team Finlay Donovan forever. She is a single mother, an author, a jane of all trades, a friend, a daughter, a sister, a lover, and she is figuring her shit out one day at a time. There were so many realistic moments about mom life that I found myself totally relating to Finlay's struggles. I was also totally in awe of her general badassery and her Veronica Mars level of investigative prowess. This story was fun and twisty and it had shootouts, mayhem, a hot lawyer, sexy detective, and so much else.

I highly recommend this one!
