A great debut. Featuring antique dealer Andrew Packford whom when restoring a piece of antique furniture happens to come across a photograph and newspaper clipping…

This wasn't at what I expected !! Not a bad thing, the book was engrossing and the author had a wonderful way with characters and atmosphere and the story did draw me in - the cover however suggested something with more of a suspense feel so if you're looking for that then this isn't possibly for you

This is a novel about learning to do the right thing. It is a morality tale for modern times. It is profound and gripping and full of vividly drawn characters, tackling difficult subject matters with insightful observation and compelling skill. It is also a reflection on the state of Britain today. In my opinion it is the best novel of its kind since J.K. Rowling's The Casual Vacancy.
A stunning debut.

An antiques dealer comes across a newspaper clipping that leads to a fight for justice. I cannot wait to read more by this author.

First i must say that it has a very nice cover and very intriguing synopsis, that make it very good trap..

For a debut novel it wasn't bad, I think that I just went with different idea of what it's going to be.. the main idea was good and if you don't have exactly expectation you would say it's funny little bit slow but fun read.
In the future I definitely would like to see more work from this author, because I would like to see how he going to develop his writing and the characters in future.

Thank you to NetGalley and Matador Books for an advance reader copy in return for my honest opinion.

This is a great story but the real appeal for me was the writing style. The author has a way of painting such a clear picture of characters, contexts, relationships and even household objects - it is very vivid and evocative.

In a nutshell…terrible. I almost DNF but I forced myself through the terrible writing, lack of anything interesting happening, and poorly developed characters. Honestly, my young child is a better writer. This book lured me in with a very nice cover, the best part of this book.

Just don’t waste your time. Wish I could have my time back.

A Cause For Justice…
A cause for justice in this unique and engaging tale full of atmosphere. Andrew Packford, a newly established dealer of antiques is enjoying life - a career he always wanted, suiting him to a tee and satisfying every aspect of his soul - and his business is doing extremely well. Fate is about to intervene. With a compelling story at heart and a compassionate and interesting protagonist this is an enjoyable, relaxing read.

I liked this book, although it was a little bit different than I thought it was going to be. From the synopsis I thought it would be a bit more of a mystery/suspense/thriller, and that's not what it is. So, if by chance, that's the type of book you're looking for, this book might not be for you right now. This book has more of a fighting for justice arc. That being said, I'm not taking away any points because the story wasn't what I thought it would be, because those expectations are entirely on me. I especially don't want to take off any points because the story as it was, was good! The justice that was being fought for was intriguing to read about and I admire the strong will of all the characters as well as seeing their stories intertwine through the multiple POV format. Overall, very enjoyable.
