I just love Amanda Flower and her cozy mysteries. It is so easy to make a cozy mystery extremely predictable and almost cheesy, but I have yet to come across an Amanda Flower book that makes me feel this way. This mystery is just a heart-warming almost-Nancy-Drew-like mystery with a hint of small-town farming and life. Truly a great ending as well!

In the second Farm to Table Mystery, we meet up with Shiloh Bellamy and her family and friends. In the first book, Shiloh has returned to her family home in Michigan to rescue the family farm/orchards. Her cousin already sold off her portion of the farm and in this book, we meet a young man who plans to farm the property and put pressure on Shiloh to sell portions of her farm to him. To raise money for the farm, she hosts a fall festival and it is going well, until a prominent woman from town is found dead under a scarecrow. Shiloh's childhood best friend, Kristy was arguing with her prior to her death, so she is the prime suspect. Shiloh is far too busy to get involved in the investigation, but as the story plays out, she has no choice but to help clear Kristy's name.

Amanda Flower is one of my favourite cozy mystery authors and I enjoy several of her series. The first book in this series was good, but this one was so much better and I enjoyed it a lot more. Shiloh has a difficult history in the town due to the death of her previous boyfriend, but she is trying to overcome it and become a responsible and profitable organic farmer. Quinn, a friend from her past is a wonderful character and friend to Shiloh that grounds her. I love his daughter, Hazel, who had a wonderful relationship with Shiloh and adds humor to the story. The victim in this book was someone we met in the previous book and her past was quite checkered. Of course this means there are a lot of suspects and motives. There is drama as well as a mystery in this one and it works well together. I love when the clues are all there, yet I don't put them together until almost near the end when the culprit is revealed. Put Out to Pasture is a well written and plotted story that held my interest from beginning to end. I am looking forward to seeing what is next for Shiloh and Bellamy Farms.

This is the second book in the farm to table mysteries. Shiloh Bellamy has saved her family's farm from financial ruin. She's barely scraping by on the farm's new organic business model and the fall festival she organized to drum up business comes to a screeching halt when the body of a prominent townswoman is discovered underneath a scarecrow in a nearby field. Worst of all, the evidence points to Shiloh's childhood best friend, Kristy, as the prime suspect.

Shiloh doesn't have time to wade into a murder investigation. But with a killer on the loose and suspicious activity circling closer and closer to Shiloh and the people she loves, she realizes there's nothing to do but roll up her sleeves and get down to the dirty work of finding the killer and clearing Kristy's name once and for all.

This was a fun cozy mystery read. I really enjoy the character of Shiloh! I recommend the series!!

Put Out to Pasture is a funny read. It is easy to recommend to cozy mystery readers. This is one of a series. It is a good stand alone, but is best when read in order of publication.

I really loved this first book in a new to my series and author. I can't wait to read the next one. The characters and location really add to the plot. This book keeps you guessing until the end.

I’m loving this cozy mystery series, set on a 4th generation family farm, which has become rundown and needs a huge overhaul.

In Book 2, Shiloh has a festival farm day, trying to earn some money to help with repairs, when a dead body is found under the scarecrow.

Shiloh’s amateur detective skills will surely be put to the test to solve this murder!

It’s such a fun setting and the characters are very entertaining. Loved this next installment and am so ready to jump into Book 3!

The first book of the series was a good introduction to the series, but I really enjoyed this, the second book, so much better. With less focus on the town and more character development, it was much more engaging. I enjoyed the mystery and the back story of the victim in this book.

If you enjoy character driven cozy mysteries, this one is definitely for you.

About to start book 3 now!

This is the second book in the series and was an enjoyable read although it wasn't as good as the first. The characters were well written and the characters have developed a little since book one. The mystery will keep you on your toes and guessing throughout. As in the first book we are left with some unanswered questions about some of the characters and events in their pasts. Look forward to reading book three just to see if some of the unanswered questions are finally answered.

Put Out to Pasture is the second book in the Farm & Table mysteries by Amanda Flower. Released 22nd Feb 2022 by Poisoned Pen Press, it's 288 pages and available in paperback, audio, and ebook formats. Library binding available in Dec 2022. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately.

I'm a huge sucker for cozies. Bonus points for pets (cats or dogs, I'm not picky), baked goods, knitting, book clubs, and I don't mind the occasional obligatory hunky sheriff/detective love interest. This book ticked a lot of boxes for me. Underdog heroine/amateur sleuth lead character moves back to her small-town home from "the big city", complicated history with the local hunky lawman, an adorable pug sidekick named Huckleberry (awww), and a few other appealing plot features which might be a little standard, but that's why we devour cozy mysteries.

This series is developing well, with good characterizations and pacing. The book's written in first person point of view which could have been a little distracting, but it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment - the author is quite adept at her craft.

The language is clean, the crimes are (mostly) bloodless, and there's a romance subplot but nothing sexually graphic. It's a safe and fun read.

Four stars. Recommended for cozy mystery lovers.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This is the 2nd book in the Farm to Table Mysteries series. Amanda Flower is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors and I absolutely love this series!! The book takes place in Michigan and I recently had the pleasure to visit the Grand Traverse area so that was a bonus after reading this book! The main character Shiloh is back home and has saved her family farm from financial ruin but also has found time to help solve her second murder! I can't wait to read the 3rd book when it comes out. Dare I say I love this series more than the authors Amish Candy Shop series!!! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

looked forward to starting up again after every time I had to put down my reader. So, I liked the book and story while I read it, but when it was time to write my review about 20 hours later, I found I had forgotten most of the story. Especially whodunnit. I actually went back and reread part of the last chapter. Not a great sign.

I found the solution to the story a bit far fetched. It is spelled out and it all links up, but it truly could have been any of the several likely suspects.

Another thing about this book that is a little off are the characters. Shiloh coming home and even bothering when her dad has checked out, why is her dad like that (let's see some meaningful dialogue), Quinn and his mother, Chief Randy and his wife (Quinn's parents) and his wife's over the top reaction to Quinn and her strange relationship with the deceased. This is a crowd of folks who need a good therapist.

Still, I liked it enough to be interested in the next one. The author does leave us with a mini cliffhanger.

I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

As a cozy reader, I thought this had quite a few things going for it. I liked the farm setting, the cooking of her bounty, and the overall rural setting. Sort of a change for your everyday cozy. But...I had a difficult time getting started. It seemed a little slow and repetitive.

It was a cute read though, as well as a short one, and overall I enjoyed it. This is the first book I have read by Amanda Flower, and it is the first book I’ve read in the series. It was enjoyable enough for me to read another.

I found this one to be a cute and fun read. I enjoyed the farm setting, and the city girl returns home vibes. It had some good red herrings, and I also liked the romantic potential, which I imagine will develop in subsequent books in the series. This is only the second book in the Farm to Table series, so it was quite easy to jump in and get to know the characters. I think the only thing I wasn’t super keen on was that it got a bit repetitive when Shi kept on mentioning her dad’s ‘collection’ (of local memorabilia) – I feel like that detail was repeated every time she mentioned her father.

I tend to judge these sorts of stories a bit by whether I would continue reading the series as new books are released, and I think this one had enough of a bigger arc to intrigue me, and I would pick up the next book to find out what happens next.

This could easily become one of my favorite series. Shiloh is hosting a fall themed event to help bring in some income. Things are going better than she expected until a body is discovered. To make matters worse her best friend is the prime suspect. She is trying to keep her farm afloat, solve a mystery, and deal with a new neighbor. The mystery kept me guessing until the end. I found many parts of the story all too realistic including the church ladies. I look forward to the next installment!

I enjoyed this 'new-to-me' series. I love farm-based mysteries and this one didn't disappoint me. I was drawn into the story in the first chapter.

The continuing characters seem realistic and likeable. I also thought the story was well-written and had just enough twists and turns. I stayed up fairly late reading this one.

I had not read the first one in this series but I didn't feel 'lost' in this one at all.

Put Out to Pasture by Amanda Flower ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well written, terrifically twisty, excellent ending. I really enjoyed this sequel in the Farm to Table mysteries! The story was well written, easy to read, and I loved the Fall atmosphere! There’s relationship development along side the mystery which was nice to read as well. It’s easy to identify with the characters and the setting is relaxing to read about. All around another great story from Amanda Flower!

Another step for Shiloh Bellamy in saving her family's farm is hosting a fall festival featuring her organic produce and baking along withcorn mazes, etc. The first day brought so many visitors that they almost ran out of baked goods. Unfortunately a body found out by the scarecrows damped the festivities. And the body was found with her best friend's scarf wrapped around the neck. Particularly unpleasant, the victim had many enemies and a shocking past. As Shiloh investigates to clear her friend, she may be putting herself in danger.

Well-written, the story moves quickly keeping you guessing the whole way. Very enjoyable and filled with interesting characters, some of whom seem placed to play larger roles in the next book. Looking forward to finding out.

Put Out to Pasture, the second book in the Farm to Table mystery series, finds Shiloh Bellamy still trying to turn her family farm into a profitable organic farm. Shiloh has planned Fall Daze, a fall festival, with lots of activities and food, to bring people to the farm. All is going well until a local businesswoman is found dead on the farm. Shiloh finds it difficult to stay out of the investigation, as the police have focused on Shiloh's best friend Kristy as the culprit.

Shiloh has so much on her hands with the rehab of the farm, dealing with the past, and a new neighbor who is also developing an organic farm business that you become quite worried about how she can handle all of it! On top of day-to-day life, Shiloh is juggling cooperating with the local police, a federal investigator that has appeared on the scene, as well as her own investigation.

The story that develops around the victim leads to many possible suspects, making it difficult to determine who really committed the crime. There are clues along the way that the astute reader can pick up, but overall, one is not entirely sure until the end of the book who committed the crime. The author does a great job weaving together all of the pieces and 'tidbits' dropped along the way, and Shiloh rather nicely solves the crime but not before finding herself in some trouble.

Once you start reading the book you are quickly drawn in and find it difficult to not read the book in one setting! Throughout the book the author plants the seeds of many other story lines and when you find yourself at the end of the book you realize that those seeds have only sprouted a little and you want to know how they develop -- making you very much want future installments in the series!

Definitely recommend this series - I will look forward to reading book three and hopefully many more after that!

This was the first Amanda Flower mystery I’ve read. It was a slow start for me, especially since it is the 2nd book in the series and I wasn’t familiar with the characters, however, I immediately warmed to it. I love the setting, a small Michigan town, and the characters were likable. Enough details were given to fill me in on the relationships but still left me wanting more (previous book has been added to my reading list).
This particular mystery centered around the local farmer’s market and the director, Kristy, who happens to be the best friend of the main character, Shiloh. After Kristy is accused of murder by the local sheriff Shiloh decides to investigate. The Federal Marshals are called in after a secret is discovered about the victim and turns the town upside down. All this as Shiloh tries to save her family farm. All in all, a great story!
