A dystopian story with impactful themes.
Some parts of the worldbuilding I found a bit overused considering the genre, and the writing style was a bit more telling rather than showing, but overall, the themes and characters were distinct. I'd feel comfortable recommending this to middle-grade readers ages 10-12 because of the simplistic writing style.

I loved and enjoyed reading Skyward, being Less Than is a feeling relatable to many and the story of Emery by Susan White is an extremely compelling tale.
This book is amazing, you will not be able to put it down. I will be passing this book a long to my daughter to read, if she enjoys it. I will recommend it to my students
The book was difficult to get into, but I liked it overall. It was confusing at first, as the world building did not have a good starting off point. As a reader I needed to stay with the characters until they were fleshed out more fully. Overall, I liked the plot but thought the introduction of characters at different points confused me. The coincidence of how everyone was related was super interesting and a little too convenient for my taste. I think the author achieved the job needed in the genre, but the world building and introduction to characters could have been improved upon.
