Really enjoyed book 1 and this was just as good. Hopefully there will be more in the series. .

Thank you for the advanced copy.

My first book from this author and I didn't realise it was the second installment, for me it can be read as a stand alone.
Great writing, real escapism which is more then welcome some afternoons. Great characters and will definitely look for the first one now and look out for more by this author.

I received an advance copy of, Autumn Dreams at Mermaids Point, by Sarah Bennett. This is a nice story in a fun location. Nerissa is stuck in a rut, will this be the year she finds love?

Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and review this charming book!

The story
Nerissa works as the receptionist and housekeeper for old Doc Malcolm in Mermaids Point. He isn’t the easiest character but he is getting older and it’s time for him to retire and find a replacement for his GP practice. Nerissa is worried about what this means for her future. Tom is a GP in a London practice. His two children Emily and Max are still struggling after the loss of their mother. Tom decides that giving Mermaids Point a try might be good for all of them.

My thoughts
This is the second book in Sarah Bennett’s charming Mermaids Point series, and I enjoyed encountering some of the characters from the first book again and meeting some new ones, and some I imagine will be fodder for future books in the series 😉 I could just visualise this story (and the previous book) as a mini series with quirky characters. Always the sign of a good read to me when you can just picture the scenes! 📚❤️

I didn't realize that this is a book in a series when I requested it from NetGalley. This book was able to stand alone. I wasn't familiar with Sarah Bennett as an author; but it looks like she has written over a dozen books.

Rounding up to 4 stars for this little romance. Not a lot of conflict in this book, some tension between Dr. Tom and his father. The college age daughter seems to be a little too emotional to be college age (in my opinion). I did like the female protagonist Nerissa; and I loved the dancing in the kitchen!

Thank you to NetGalley, the author Sarah Bennett and the publisher Boldwood Books (Kindle Edition) for the opportunity to review Autumn Dreams at Mermaids Point in exchange for an honest review. Publication date is Sept 23, 2021.

This was my second visit to the village of Mermaid Point. I love a series like this where you can re-visit characters from a previous book and already feel like you know the location. Having said that, it did take me a little while to work out who was who, despite an extensive character list at the beginning of the book - much easier to refer back to a list like this if you are reading a hard copy of the book!
This time we hear the story of Nerissa, the doctor's receptionist who has been single since losing her husband in tragic circumstances.
A warm, satisfying story follows. No real surprises but sometimes you just need a little bit of escapism and this fits the bill perfectly.

"The words we give to the sea are heard only by the waves."

This quote has stuck with me. I love the scene when this is used. There is always a way to let go of the inner feelings if you don't want to talk to anyone about it to make you feel better.

Nerissa is receptionist and housekeeper to Doc. With his passing age and retirement coming up, he wants to handover the practice to someone else. This oncoming change makes Nerissa afraid as it is not only her job but also roof over her head.
Dr. Tom lives in London with his 2 kids. They are still grieving the loss of his wife Anna and it has resulted in a communication and understanding gap between them. To be more in the life of his kids he takes them to Mermaids Point for a break and also seeing if things work out to takeover Doc's practice. Nerissa and Tom's this journey is sweet with undeniable attraction.

The characters in this book are lovable and easy to connect with. This is second in Mermaids Point but can be read as a standalone. But after reading this I am definitely going to read the first one. Sarah Bennett has written a beautiful book with great setting about family, pain, happiness, importance of communication and how people who care for you always have your back.

This is funny, sweet, fast paced and filled with love. It is about how two people find each other in unexpected way. It is about how things seem different on face and to have beautiful memories of the past. It is about how you hold onto love, give life a chance to bring happiness your way, give yourself a chance to be happy again.

This is perfect and gorgeous for summer read. Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for giving me the chance to read this in exchange of an honest review.

This is the second book I read in the series and again I really enjoyed the story. This time the story is about Nerissa who is single and fell in love when she was younger and her boyfriend died since then she has stayed at mermaids point as receptionist and live in cleaner in the doctors surgery and than her life changes suddenly. I like how Sarah explains a little abit about the characters and what has happened to them in the first book in case you not read that one so you have idea what’s happening in this story. The characters are so easy to warm to and even the new characters. I can’t wait to read the next book.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.

This was my first book by this author and certainly won’t be my last and I hadn’t read the previous mermaids point book but that didn’t detract from this one as it could easily be read a stand-alone. This story of love and loss and starting over would make a brilliant tv drama series and I could envisage the scenes unfolding on the screen as I was reading. Dr Tom moves from London to mermaids point for a fresh start and is still struggling with the loss of his wife. Nerissa the live in help at the surgery has suffered losses of her own and is drawn to Dr Tom I would love a sequel to this book to follow how the next chapter of these characters pans out I don’t want to say to much here for fear of spoilers.

This was the perfect escapism read for a summers day and read it in one sitting and fell in love with the setting and the characters from
The very first page. A beautiful and heartwarming yet sometimes emotional read.

I very much enjoyed this book! I was a little lost at the beginning with various characters as it's clearly the second book in the series but I was quickly caught up in the story and will be picking up the first book soon.

Loved that the heroine is in her 40s! There's not enough of that, imho.

All the characters were great. It's a very fast read and the ending felt a little abrupt.

I will definitely read more books from this author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Boldwood Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Boldwood Books!

A fast quick read. I enjoyed the characters and sweet story. A story of loss and moving on. It ended a bit too abruptly but otherwise enjoyable.

Nerissa Morgan’s life is fine, it’s nice…it’s just not very good. After a brutal breakup when she was younger, she’s remained single, devoted herself to her job managing a local doctor’s office. Now, she’s in her 40’s and the doctor in that practice is set to retire, a new doctor about to take over and she’s at a crossroads. Is this all there is to life. Dr. Tom Nelson has decided to move his practice to Mermaid’s Point so he has a chance to get to know his teenage children before they grow up and move on .The last thing widower Tom ever expected was to have feeling for the office manager at his new practice. This is a funny, sweet lover story that, thankfully, didn’t revolve around post prepubescents

A wonderfully enjoyable book! I adored Nerissa and Tom’s story and the rest of the residents of Mermaids Point. I have read books by Sarah Bennett before but not the first book about this little seaside community but that doesn’t matter, you can quickly pick up the thread. However I will be reading the first book as I so enjoyed this one - and will eagerly await the next book. I wish Mermaids Point was real as I’d love to visit! Funny, sweet, romantic and a little bit of peril thrown in - what’s not to love? Perfect summer reading……..

I loved this sweet romantic story, populated with characters one would like to hold as friends . This gentle story has it all ; love, loss, humour and romance. When Doctor Tom relocates his young family to Mermaids point to help them recover from losing their beloved mum , he wasn't expecting to find love in the shape of Nerissa, as beautiful as her namesake. Mermaids are fabled to appear when needed and never has doctor Tom and his children needed one more. Nerissa, herself living half a life as she continues to mourn her dead love, also needs rescuing from her grief and when their two worlds collide, magic happens.
