This was the 2nd book set in Mermaids Point but if you haven't read the 1st one it doesn't matter as this one focuses on new people.
Another great read although I did think the ending was a bit strange, I thought there might have been another chapter or 2 but maybe that was just me.
Looking forward to the next one

Having loved Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point I was nervous to see if this would live up to its predecessor - thankfully it did. Once again I loved the author's easy style, the charming but contemporary storyline and the gorgeous seaside village with its warm and friendly inhabitants. I enjoyed catching up with old friends, such as Laurie and Jake, as well as getting to know new ones. That said I found the extensive character list at the beginning over-whelming as there just seemed like too many people to keep up with - but in the end most were only bit parts and everyone else introduced gradually. So, much like the first, I adored this latest installment and can't wait to see what the villagers get up to next - especially as this one did end appropriately but a little abruptly (I wanted to see how the family reacted).

Truly touching story, welcome back to Mermaids Point joining all the characters once again, making her way to Laurie's Place the little beach cafe, Nerissa Morgan is Laurie's aunt and big changes are coming for her in the story.
Nerissa is wondering what is going to happen after her doctor boss Malcolm steps down and retires her job and home above the surgery mean the world to her. Then we get to meet doctor Tom Nelson from London who comes to the village on a holiday with his two grown children he takes a shine to Nerissa and a change of job and home is maybe just what he needs right now.
What a wonderful story this is to be shared right through as we get to know a lot more about old and new character's I am so enjoying every bit of this magical series from the author.

"Words to the wise. Don't cling to preconceived ideas of what and can't happen and risk cutting yourself off from something wonderful."

When I first saw the book's cover and its name, I was like this is so cute then moved on to reading the synopsis and my instinct was right this book got something and I requested it and it didn't disappoint!
This is the first time I have read a book by this author and it won't be the last.
I enjoyed this book first because it's women's fiction which is my favourite genre and second, because of how simple and clear it was.
It isn't just a love story it's about starting over and confronting your fears.
It's about managing your grief and loss of a dear person to you and how can this situation affect your life and future.
Nerissa's love passed away years ago
Tom's wife too. One day their paths cross , will they able to heal each other and start over?
I liked the characters, the bond between family and friends
It made me feel joy and hopefulness
The setting was so beautiful, I just felt I was there from the writer's description.
The book in general was really good and I highly recommend you read it once it's released.

Loved this!
I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the characters on this and can’t wait to see what comes next.

What a beautiful love story.

Two characters who have experienced heartache find love once again and you are on the journey with them. I felt like I was in the story as well and I love stories set in seaside towns with beautiful narratives.

This is the second book in the Mermaid Point series but it can be read as a standalone. The author also adds a character list at the start of the book so you are familiar with who is who or refresh your memory.

The second installment in the Mermaid Point series, i love the fact that all the same people are in both books. A lovely story about a village by the sea, the local doctor nearing retirement places an advert for a replacement. Doctor Tom, a widower from London and his two children see the advert and decide to have a change in life. A well written enjoyable story that makes you want to read the next Christmas installment

Mostly enjoyed this addition to the mermaids point series. Tom and his family were a bit dopey. The ending seemed very cut odd, strange even. Nerissa’s fashion choices were…something. She’s only 43 not 65, give the woman some style even if it’s utilitarian.

This is the second book in a series but I was perfectly able to read it without having read the other book, there's a character reference section at the beginning but also well written summaries within the story that keep you up to speed with the who, what, where, perfectly well. There's a lot of characters within the community and from hints in this book I desperately need to read the other book as I think it will explain these further, but I loved the feel and vibe of Mermaids Point.
As the resident Doctor (Doc) is hanging up his stethoscope we are immediately embroiled in a pretty big life-changing situation for Nerissa, the medical receptionist/live-in housekeeper at the practice. It felt very Doc Martin the kinds of cases, set up and 24/7 duty the community doctor has and so not your average GP service. Complicating things further for Nerissa is the arrival of Tom & his children to the area and the unmistakable sparks that fly between Tom & Nerissa.
This was a pleasurable and heartwarming book that delves in to some pretty deep subjects and brings the romance in buckets along with the crisp Autumn air at the seaside town. I really loved getting to know everyone and discovering a new series to enjoy.

A pleasure to be back in Mermaids Point with Autumn Dreams at Mermaids Point by Sarah Bennett. Although the second book in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone. The main character has changed to someone involved in the story in book one but not the focus, so it’s nice to get a chance to catch up with what’s happened to characters from before but also get a more in-depth look at someone else’s story.
Mermaids Point is a cute, coastal village with interesting characters that create a good community feel. This time we mainly focus on the stories of Nerissa and Tom. Both characters have suffered heart-breaking losses and although their grief has calmed to a liveable level neither feel the need to move past that.
The more we read the more we see that both are struggling with how they are; they miss that spark in their lives. Tom has two children and when they come to the village and slap bang into Nerissa’s life, things look set to change whether they want them to or not.
As their friendship evolves, they both help each other heal in various ways. I love Nerissa and how she takes to both children, supporting them whilst not being too much too soon.
With moments of laughter, emotion and drama this is a brilliant read. I hope there is a return visit soon, I can’t wait to catch up with all of these characters and see what fun is in store next.

Back to Mermaids Point for Nerissa's book.
Nerissa lost her fiance years ago and has not met anyone since, but the she locks eyes with a stranger across the pub and all that changes.
Tom is a widower, who is moving to the area with his children. He doesn't want to fall for Nerissa but will happen anyway?

Looking forward to the next book in this series.

The second book from Mermaids Point and oh boy it doesn’t disappoint. In fact I cannot wait for the next one. You get to meet newcomer Tom and his two children who need a change of scenery and a place to escape. Does Mermaid Point hold all the answers? Nerissa who has lived in Mermaid Point all her life and Tom, have both suffered a loss, but now have the opportunity to build new relationships, friendships and find love once again. A wonderful book

I was so excited that Nerissa got her own story. I really liked her character in the previous book and this one didn't disappoint. I also really like the fact that she's that bit older of a heroine. I've fallen in love with Mermaids Point and the residents. There's such a warmth to Sarah Bennet's writing, it just feels like you're catching up with old friends when you're reading her books. This can be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point so you can get to know the characters a bit better. I cannot wait to read the follow up to see what's in store for the other residents of this idyllic town.

A story of second chances and living for the here and now rather than yearning for what has been lost. Tom and Nerissa both have suffered loss, but now have the opportunity to build new relationships and find love once again. A lovely return to the point and I am now awaiting book 3 to find out more and revisit some of the characters met in this book and the previous one. An easy and enjoyable read.

AUTUMN DREAMS AT MERMAIDS POINT.
By Sarah Bennett.

With thanks to #NetGalley and #BoldwoodBooks for an ARC of #AutumnDreamsAtMermaidsPoint by @SarahBennett, in return for an honest review.

This is book two in Sarah Bennett’s, Mermaids Point series.
It can be read as a stand alone story, but makes far more sense if you’ve read book one first.
A comprehensive list of characters at the front of this book, was helpful, especially to someone like me, who struggles to remember their own name some days!

Autumn Dreams, is Nerissa and Tom’s story.
We first met Nerissa in Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point. (Book 1 in the series).
Nerissa is in her early 40’s. Having lost the love of her life at a young age, she now devotes her life to her job and her extended family.
Will the changes going on around Nerissa, bring happiness to her life and allow her to let go of the past?

Tom is a London GP. He’s burried himself in work following the death of his beloved wife.
There comes a point where he realises that things need to change for him and his two children, Emily and Max. Could a move to Mermaids Point be the answer to all of their problems.

It was wonderful to step back into the comfort of Mermaids Point and especially to return to the Morgan family, who truely are the most welcoming, supportive and warm bunch of characters.

This is a story of second chances, love and the strength of family tues.

Autumn Dreams At Mermaids Point is a gentle story, that will warm your heart and make you smile. Mermaids Point is the most wonderful place to escape to, and the lovely, well written characters will make you want to stay there.

It was refreshing to read that Nerissa and Tom are both in their forties. They are still vibrant and have so much to offer.
The story has a multi generational cast of characters, that blend in well together and create a believable community of people.

I loved Nerissa and Tom’s story, but it did end sooner than I anticipated it would. I suspect though, that we may get to read more about their journey in book three. If you read to the very end of Autumn Dreams, you may find a little sneak peek at what’s to come.

Heart warming and thoroughly charming. Five glorious stars from me.

Fab to be back at Mermaid Point. Can be read alone. Gosh you wish we still had doctors like Dr Malcolm . . You felt Nerissa was older than she was. She was amazing with Max and Emily. They had had suffered losing their mum.. It is just a lovely story. Can’t wait for the next one.

When I received this book as an advanced reader copy, I put it on hold and first read book one. I would advise that you do read the first book in this series, Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point, prior to reading book two. A reader can certainly understand everything in this book, without reading book one, but it would give them a better background.

Then, I was very happy to continue the series with this book. I really enjoy the village the author created and the lovely people that live there. This book has many of the characters from the previous book. I do want to add that at the beginning of this book there is a listing of characters for this series. I was really intimated by it, when I first saw it, and want to assure the potential reader to not be taken aback by it. You can certain read this book and the others in the series without the aid of a character listing. It is helpful, if you want to reference it, but many of the characters listed are in just one or two scenes, just to have the village life fully described. (For example, instead of saying "the grocer", the reader knows his name.)

This is a second chance at love story and the main two characters are a bit older than in most romance books. I actually like that quite a bit. Both Nerissa and Tom have had the "love of their life" early in their life. They do not think they will have that same type of relationship again, but fate has bought them together, and they do find that kind of love can be possible once again.

I really enjoyed this story so much. Of course, the romance story of Nerissa and Tom was a delight to read, but also the other characters added a lot to further the plot. Tom has two children who brought deeper understanding to the grief through the story. Also, Toby, a very energetic dog brings humor many times. Nerissa's family is a special group that will push in to help and they soon make other people part of their unit, which is such a blessing to the additions.

I definitely want to continue this series, and have pre-ordered book 3, to be released in October 2021.

I want to thank NetGalley and Boldwood Books for giving me the pleasure of reading the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

Autumn Dreams at Mermaids Point by Sarah Bennett is the second book in her Mermaid’s Point series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone book. I really enjoyed this book, it has everything I love in a book. A beautiful coastal village, a cast of interesting characters, and a lovely, sweet romance.

Nerissa Morgan has lived in Mermaids Point her entire life. At age 43, she still works at the local doctor’s surgery in town, as a receptionist and housekeeper for the old, and soon to be retired, Doc Gadd. Her first and only love, Garreth, died after leaving for the Army when they were both young, and she has never found anyone who she can love as much as she loved him.

Tom is the single father of two teenagers living in London while he works in a thriving General Practice as one of the partners of the clinic. His wife and the mother of his two children died three years ago, and he is still grieving her loss, as are his children. After some issues at his children’s school, he decides to go to Mermaids Point to answer an advertisement for a new GP at the surgery in town. Tom and his kids, Emily and Max, explore the village and decide to move there and take over the Surgery from the old doctor. Of course, the surgery practice comes with the live-in housekeeper and receptionist Nerissa. Can Tom and Nerissa live in the same house, and work together while denying the growing attraction between each other?

I enjoyed this refreshing story about two lonely people, who don’t need or want anyone else in their lives as they both have already had and lost the love of their lives. When they meet, it’s an instant attraction, but they both struggle to shed the memories of their past loves to learn to love again. I felt so strongly for both Nerissa and Tom, and couldn’t wait for them to figure out they are so right for each other. I also enjoyed Tom’s children, Max and Emily as they also struggled with their ongoing grief and the sudden changes to living in a small village.

The author skillfully described the little village and the townspeople so well that I was transported to this seaside sanctuary. Once I started reading on the first page, the rest of the book flew by as I was transported to the lovely little village and met the friendly people of Mermaids Point. All her characters are well developed and sympathetic, and I loved every one of them.

I highly recommend Autumn Dreams at Mermaids point to anyone who loves a story of loss and love in a quaint picturesque village. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
