I would say the most exciting part about this book is that you can tell it will have multiple books following it! This is another great Hallmark story, a clean romance with an awesome ending! It took a while to get to the love story piece, but I think that’s what made it so magical! You will definitely enjoy this romantic novel!

Cute and cozy romance, with lots of Christmas scenes and grumpy people who begin to love Christmas.
This is a story how Mary, Christmas consultant, comes to help town Clark Creek. The town has a sherrif named Evan, who is some kind of Grinch or Scrooge and doesn't want Mary to come near him.

But- opposites attract and soon there are sparkles everywhere. It was quick read, predictable story, which is comforting in Christmas romance with lots of nice scenery!

It felt like watching a Diva (Hallmark) movie!

A very Hallmarky Christmas story (but I don't mean that in a bad way - I love Hallmark movies). Set in Clark Creek, a small town that needs more tourists to stay afloat. The council hires a Christmas consultant who suggests a town Christmas parade. Evan is the Sheriff and son of the mayor. He's against it. Mary, the consultant, thinks it will be perfect. Mary and Evan, enemies, start to catch feelings.

I enjoyed this holiday book. The sunshine and the grump. Christmas magic at it's finest.

I was craving one more cheesy Christmas romance, and thought this Hallmark book would be perfect. Mary travels to Clark Creek to help the town with their financial woes, by throwing a Christmas parade. Everyone in the town is super on board and friendly, besides the grumpy sheriff, Evan.

I’m sure you can all guess what happens. I enjoyed this more than The Santa Suit, I have to say. I felt more connected to the characters and the town. The romance was definitely better and didn’t feel forced. This is exactly the read I was looking for, right up until the end.

Listen, I’ve seen plenty of Hallmark movies in my day, so I don’t know why I was so surprised by the ending. But somehow, I literally sat there with my jaw open in disbelief. The ending seemed way too unrealistic for my liking and made me bump down my star rating.

Book Review #154

On Christmas Avenue by Ginny Baird

The town of Clark Creek is struggling financially, and something needs to change as soon as possible. The Major decides to hire a Christmas Consultant but her son Evan, the county sheriff, is not a fan of this idea. Mary pitched the idea of a Christmas parade and everyone except Evan is thrilled, and happy to volunteer. When Mary and Evan meet, it doesn’t go too well, through the planning process, they both begin to open up to each other more. Mary’s determined to give Clark Creek an amazing Christmas, and help them achieve their goals.

On Christmas Avenue is the perfect cosy Christmas story, I hope this one is turned into a movie. The enemy to lover’s trope is my favourite, I love the banter and bickering that Evan and Mary established very early on and continued throughout the story. I loved all the characters; they were relatable and set realistic expectations. I hope this also turns into a series because there are some potential matches that would be fun to read about!

Thank you Hallmark Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun Christmas novel! I enjoyed the characters and the setting for this book. Being from a small town, the characters were relatable to me and I quickly became invested in their story. This would make a great holiday movie for the Christmas season!

I have not read Ginny Baird before but will be reading her again! I absolutely adored this story with all the Christmas feels. I read quite a few Christmas stories this year and this one is one of my top favorites.

Mary is a Christmas consultant and she is sent to Clark Creek to essentially save the town...no pressure. I love Mary and her Christmas cheer, she is an eternal optimist. And, when you are facing the only person in town who doesn't want the parade, her optimism comes in handy.

It's not that Evan is opposed to the parade...okay, so he is. All he sees is work and more work, and he wonders how a parade can keep their town out of financial ruin. He is quick to point out every possible outcome that could go wrong.

I loved the small-town, the way everyone wanted to pitch in to help, the lovely cast of characters...even the snow. This story has everything you would expect from a Hallmark movie, including a happy ending.

Thank you to Net Galley for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ginny Baird's novel, On Christmas Avenue, is deliciously predictable.; and I mean that in a good way! It is a story set during Christmas in a town that is struggling. The town council hires a Christmas Coordinator to help save the town. While you can guess the ending - it is a wonderful Christmas book! I honestly couldn't put it down. I loved the setting and the characters and felt I was right in the story with them. If you love Christmas reads, then don't miss this one - it's a winner!

Romance is typically not my book genre, but I am a sucker for Hallmark Christmas movies in November and December. When I noticed On Christmas Avenue, I knew I had to grab a review copy. This book had every element of a true Hallmark Christmas movie. A guy and a girl with no time to think about love, some sort of mission, beautiful surroundings, and getting us, the viewers caught up in some kind of whimsical fantasy.

Make yourself some hot chocolate with crushed candy canes as a garnish, a fluffy blanket, settle into a comfy chair.

On Christmas Avenue, Mary is hired as a Christmas Consulate over in Clark Creek. Clark Creek is a little town that is pretty much in financial ruins. The Mayor contacted the firm Mary worked for and explained what she was thinking and if anyone could help. Of course, there were a couple of hurdles to overcome. One Mary only has ten days to pull some kind of miracle out of her bag of tricks, and two, Evan. Evan is the town's sheriff who is set in his ways. Mary cannot back down from a challenge, especially when there is talk about a possible promotion.

Mary decided the best way to help out Clark Creek was to host a parade. She would obtain sponsors, have an adoption area for the animal shelter, a Santa's workshop so the kids could visit Santa, and hopefully have their Christmas wishes granted. The Mayor and the town council were all on board, the people in the town were excited, they have had a parade in years. Evan though, all he could think of was how much it would cost, and the noise, litter, and everything that could go wrong.

This book left me with all the feel-good feelings and one question. How do people enjoy being outside so much in the winter? Is it not cold? If you are looking for a good Christmas read, I highly recommend On Christmas Avenue.

On Christmas Avenue is a classic, feel-good Hallmark story. The characters are cute and charming. The setting is idyllic. You'll want to be part of the town and the main family. If you need a heart warmer, look no further. I have no doubt this one will end up as a beloved Hallmark Movie

I first want to thank NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the Advanced Reading Copy in exchange for an honest review.

Mary Ward is hired as a Christmas Consultant to help save the small town of Clark Creek during the holidays. Her idea of hosting a Christmas parade is a big hit amongst the towns people, except for the sheriff, handsome Evan Clark.

Things I liked:
* It hits all the check marks of a Hallmark Christmas story
* Written fairly well (there is one blatant issue that I will get to later)

Things I did not like:
* It hits all the check marks of a Hallmark Christmas story (extreme eye roll). The story is absolutely ridiculous. A “Christmas Consultant”? Really?
* SUPER predictable. I get it, it’s a fluffy romance, but give me a little bit of guessing and nuance
* That ending (more eye rolling). I don’t want to give any spoilers but yikes.
* Now for the writing issue I referenced above. One of my most hated things authors do is refer to characters that are POC for no reason at all. In Chapter 23, Baird writes “”This is Bernie,” she said referring to the older Black gentleman beside her with short gray hair.” This was a complete side character that was only present in this one paragraph. His skin tone and background was not pertinent to the story line at all. Why add this? The author didn’t preface anyone else’s skin tone.

Would I recommend this book:
* No.
* It was slow to read and had a ridiculous story line.

On Christmas Avenue is a delightful, small-town romance – a smallish town in desperate need of saving, and an adorable Grinch-like sheriff who doesn’t believe that spending money the town doesn’t have will bring in more funds that are so badly needed. He’s about to be proven wrong in a story full of Christmas cheer and possibilities.

Mary has a career that she adores. Her business basically travels to locations where people are in dire need of fundraising and are pretty much on their last pitch for a miracle when they finally contact her. Clark Creek will be a do-able project for Mary – but it’s also going to be a frustrating one when the local sheriff (the mayor’s son – the mayor who hired her) has no faith at all in her abilities and will try everything possible to make her job more difficult. Oh, he’s not about to get nasty, but there are ways to slow things down, especially for a sheriff who has turned Grinch.

Evan might not normally deserve the title of Grinch but his mother’s harebrained scheme to bring much-needed funds into the community will only be spending money that Clark Creek can hardly afford. There’s no way a silly Christmas Parade will save his town but this “Christmas Consultant” has convinced the mayor that it will do so with style and festive cheer. He might not have a choice about the parade but he also has the chance to toss a few obstacles in the way and doesn’t hesitate one second in doing just that.

On Christmas Avenue is everything I always expect and find with Ginny Baird’s work. A couple to cheer for, some obstacles to overcome, a small-town feeling, and a love (eventually) that can last a lifetime. I adored this couple, even at his most Grinch-like moments there was never a doubt about Evan’s love for his community. And Mary’s delight in everything Christmas quickly won my heart. I liked them and enjoyed every moment spent in Clark Creek with them. If you love small-town romances set in the holiday madness, then On Christmas Avenue would be perfect for you.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This is truly a Hallmark story and I am happy I kept it to read close to Christmas. I loved the characters and the organization of the parade kept me entertained. I read a lot of holiday themed books who don’t really capture the Christmas spirit but this one truly did. It was a fun story and I would certainly enjoy a movie made out of it.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me a complimentary e-arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Adorable and filled with holiday joy. The Grinch, aka Evan the sheriff, soon has his heart filled with love. A tshirt problem just needs a creative solution.
I love these holiday romances that are sweet and heartwarming. Book or movie, a romance for the holiday is a joyous way to spend a few happy hours.
This book was super cute. It had what my heart craved a cute small Town romance, a Christmas parade, with elves and reindeers, and Santa Claus. My list can go ON and ON. I loved the family chemistry. And It had all the small Town vibes, people caring for their community. I want to live there. And the ending, what Can i say chefs kiss.

Evan, the county sheriff, knows that businesses are struggling in the small town of Clark Creek. But unlike the mayor—who happens to be his mother—he doesn’t think that hiring a “Christmas Consultant,” whatever that is, will help. Especially when this Christmas Consultant proposes a holiday parade that seems likely to overwhelm his staff and leave the town in even more debt.
Mary is sure the parade is going to be a superb fundraiser. She’s going to make sure of it, overcoming every obstacle…including those put in place by the stubborn sheriff. But in the middle of her planning, the unexpected happens: she and Evan begin to see one another in a different light. Could the parade bring about more than one Christmas miracle?
This is really a Christmas miracle.
Mary is the perfect solution to this perfect romance.
Ginny Baird has written a perfectly. fine romance.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, my house is clean, and I have moved past my reading slump, I can really dive into all my Christmas reads! The second holiday read I picked up is On Christmas Avenue by Ginny Baird. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

I absolutely loved everything about this book. Do you love Hallmark holiday movies? Do you love books? Then this is for you!!

This book has the small town of Clark Creek on the brink of collapse! There’s only one thing that can save them - a Christmas Consultant, Mary. Mary is planning a parade to help bring people to Clark Creek, but the sheriff (Evan) she is working with doesn’t agree. Will the town be saved? Will Mary get a possible promotion from this? Will Evan ever smile?

This one was a quick read for me, as I immediately fell in love with the characters and the small town that, once again, has me wishing I could live there too. Plenty of holiday activities are sprinkled in, and who doesn’t love a parade?

Every time I read Hallmark books, I always try to picture which actress and actor I think would be great! Check out my instagram (familywithbooks) to see who I chose!

This book is out now! Thank you to Ginny Baird and Hallmark Publishing for an advanced copy for review via #netgalley. I loved it so much, I ran out and bought a copy for my shelves!!

As someone who truly loves all things Hallmark Christmas movies and books alike, I’ve really struggled with this. I started this arc a few months back thanks to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing; however, I put it down thinking I just wasn’t in the Christmas reading mood yet. After picking it back up recently I’m realizing it just wasn’t my Hallmark book for the year, which I am terribly devastated about. It had all the makings of the things I love: small-town, somewhat grumpy character, a town in trouble, coming together to solve a crisis etc, but I really struggled with a few of the aspects in this book that made it feel unrealistic. I really wanted to love this one.
