This was a cute, fun story and the first for me from this author. As a divorced mother of 3, I could easily relate to April and her hectic life as a single mom. I connected to her on that level, which ultimately helped me become invested in her story.

Then there was Jack. He was sweet and considerate and had April's back in the moments she needed it most. I enjoyed their working relationship as well as their personal one. Their attraction to each other was slow burn but palpable and their chemistry once they allowed themselves to give in to their attraction was sizzling hot. My only complaint in regards to the romance is that it read too insta-lovey for me. Although there was a set connection between April and Jack, I would have liked to see more of it on the page.

Having said that, I think the author did a great job in balancing the story with humor, range in emotions and the reality of being a single mother while pursuing a career. I also enjoyed the addition of the secondary characters and thought that they all added to the story and helped the reader see the MCs in a different light. I especially appreciated the author's way of handling the content regarding April's work as a social media influencer. I thought that it was informative but didn't drag the story down, took away from any of the other elements brought to the page or overwhelmed the reader in any way.

Although this is the third installment in the Mommy Wars series, it can be read as a stand alone. As a reader unfamiliar with the series, I had no problem following along or enjoying the story as a whole.

All in all, a sweet fun read.

A sweet book with a cute pack of kiddos. The main character had great character growth throughout the book. I also LOVED the friend group in this one and wanted to be part of it.

April May Fall by Christina Hovland is a lovely contemporary romance that is full of warmth and sweetness. The chemistry was spot on for me, and I enjoyed their love story so much!

Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for an e-ARC!

This was such a great representation of families and motherhood. I loved how interesting each of April's children were and they weren't just characters tossed to the side. April and Jack's dynamics were fantastic and I really enjoyed their growth from beginning to end. April's confidence shot up and Jack definitely became the relationship guy and their journey to those points were really special. I think this book was super light and playful while also being real and emotional about the everyday struggles of being a parent. The friendship was also done well here and I loved the banter between Kitty, Simone, Yelena, Rachel and April. Honestly this was such a fun read and I'm so glad I got to read another one of Hovland's books.

Over the top, messy, funny, heart-warming.

April May Fall made me smile (and occasionally snort-laugh), swoon, and managed to tug these ole heartstrings at the same time.
I enjoyed getting to know April and her slightly crazy posse, though I'll admit that Jack - at first - seemed a bit too perfect for my taste. But when chaos and hilarity ensued and the poor guy was so in over his head, he still tried to find the best way to help... Honestly, how could I not root for him?
Bonus points for April's circle of fiercely loyal and supportive girlfriends - everyone should have friends like Simone, Yelena, and Kitty (!) in their corner!

April May Fall is the 3rd book in the 'Mommy Wars' series and follows the story of April Davis, friend of Molly and Rachel from books 1 and 2. You can absolutely read this as a standalone, but there is a deeper richness if you also know more about the supporting cast, plus some in-jokes and even a Dimefront Easter egg for those who've read other books by @hovlandwrites

April is an aspiring yoga influencer, but when a live feed for her social media goes terribly, horribly, wrong, in steps Jack Gibson, brother of Rachel from Rachel Out Of Office, to get her brand back on track.

I really, really loved the way both Jack and April's relationship grew throughout the book. It felt organic and didn't feel forced. There was natural chemistry and as with the previous two books, the best scenes are when the all-knowing child of the family is involved. In this case, it's Harmony who is definitely the star of the story. Her one-liners are epic.

That said, there is an exceptionally sweet and poignant chapter with an exchange between Rohan and Jack that was so heartwarming and adorable, but then actually made my heart ache, and left me sobbing as little Rohan tried to make sense of the world.

With an outrageous neighbour, an elderly dog, and an exhilarating ending, this is another winner.

After reading There's Something About Molly, I was excited that April May Fall. This series is fantastic and one of my favorite from Christina Hovland. I love that it shows life and romance as a parent are rewarding, but also sometimes messy, difficult, and complicated.

April has built her brand as The Calm Mom, but then a live video of her goes viral and she definitely is not calm in it. Jack works for the company that purchased her brand and he comes to help her manage the situation. What neither of them expects is the sparks between them.

Both April and Jack experienced growth individually and together as their relationship developed. It was nice to see the ups and downs they experienced as they worked things out, and it made their HEA even better.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

This book follows April, a single mom on her way to become an influencer with a "Calm Mom" brand, and Jack, the brother of one of her best friends and the person hired to help manage her brand - and clean up the messes surrounding its creation. Like the other books in this series, the book alternates POV between the two, and there are different quotes at the beginning of each chapter with fun words of wisdom. Like the other book I read in this series (I didn't read the first one as they have the ability to be standalones), I was way more invested in the leading man and his development than the leading woman. For whatever reason I am not the biggest fan of the leading lady's personality for a good half of the book until there is a huge moment where something changes. I am going to chalk it up to the fact I do not have children so I cannot imagine what she is going through, so all of her behaviors seem irrational/frustrating to me when they are probably quite appropriate. This was a fun book tying in our new social media generation & influencer lifestyle with trying to deal with real life heartache. I overall enjoyed this book and I think there is an audience out there that will love it & appreciate it much more than me. 3.5/5

Is there truly anything more terrifying than having one of your worst moments go viral?

April has made a living as the Calm Yoga Mom. While a live event with her three kids and a dog leads to one kid sliding items off the shelf, and the other repeating a curse word she learned from a grandparent. This leads to damage control. Her PR company sends Jack so is in town to help her fix her image.

April and her kids are recovering from their Dad leaving her for his skydiving instructor. The kids were quite a handful but also so adorable and full of personality.

With her trusty crockpot Chili, her mounds of laundry, and her calm fully lost Jack is a nice sturdy presence.

Now their attraction to each other is a different problem.

April is trying to find her equilibrium. With the help of her feisty friends, sexy Jack, and a celebrity chef she just might be the Calm mom again. However if not, it happens.

What do you do when you need to find your inner Calm?

I received an arc for review, all opinions are my own.

This book will have you laughing out loud from the very beginning to the end. I think April is a such a relatable character for all women! I was sucked in right away with this one! It was hard for me to put it down. If you like single parent romances add this one to the list!! The cast of side characters were just as amazing as the main characters! There was no long drawn out unnecessary drama. I would absolutely recommend this book!

We all need April’s friends!

Yoga teacher April Davis is trying to make is as an influencer being the calm mom when everything goes wrong during a live video! Her kids misbehave, the dog doesn’t belong to her, and the epic disaster goes viral. It gets April’s name out there but not in a good way, so April knows she needs help making it as an influencer.

Jack Gibson is a social media genius visiting his sister and her family (Rachel, Out of Office, Mommy Wars Book 1) while working with April. But nothing is simple when you are a single mom with children trying to make it with a fascinating group of friends and nothing goes as planned when she meets Jack.

I enjoyed April May Fall because it is so relatable in the stuff that happens when we least expect it but the quotes at the beginning of the chapters are worth the entire book!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a delightful read! It had humor, fun supportive characters, and romance among many other things. I am not a mom but did enjoy reading about the single mom perspective in this. I also always enjoy a book that involves social media so this one checked that box off as well. I read this without even knowing it is the third in the series, but clearly it can be read as a stand alone, but now I plan to read the first two as well.

This story was a lighthearted tale of motherhood, friendship and finding yourself in the chaos.

‘Motherhood required breathable fabric. Fact of life. Fact of motherhood.’

There’s so much truth in what we shoulder as moms, caretakers and spouses and how easy it is to lose ourselves in the process. April May Fall illustrates that even though we can do it on our own, sometimes we need that outside presence to get us back on track - to show us that we are indeed making it.

We need to see the version of ourselves that others see - the strong, capable version that despite all odds still shows up and handles business like a boss.

‘When things break, they’re not ruined. Fix them and they’re stronger for it.’

Don’t miss out on this hilarious story filled with love, chaos, heat and a cast of crazy characters!

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the author in exchange for an honest review.

April was the calm mommy, but after her husband left her, she was struggling to find her zen again. Following an unfortunate livestream, her manager Jack arrived to do what he did best – fix things. Would this workaholic bachelor be able to resist falling for the new and improved calm mom?

This book came out of nowhere and simply delighted me to no end. I swear! I was grinning from ear to ear. I loved this book so much, I ran right to Amazon and one-clicked book one in the series. So, what was so good?

It was a rom-com. I know, we have all grown a bit leery of that label, but it’s true. There were too many comedy gold moments to count, AND there was also an actual romance. The romance was born from a mutual attraction, but it was easy to see there were real feelings involved early on. As much as April was wounded from her divorce, and as many times as Jack declared he didn’t date, there was love stirring between these two. Needless to say, I was encouraging it from the get-go.

Why? So many reasons. I think Jack made me fall in love with the idea of Jack+April. He was there to “fix” things, to help restore April’s confidence in herself, but you could tell he had found the place where he belonged. For someone who had sworn to be a life-long bachelor, he certainly slipped seamlessly into April and her children’s lives. Building frog sanctuaries, writing songs, drinking crayon water — he was a gem. There were a few times, during his chapters where I got a bit emotional too. I could feel his longing. I live to get wrapped up in my characters emotions, and it happened over and over again during this story. I felt so invested in this romance, and to me, that’s a sign of a winning one.

The kids were used so well during this story. I know some readers are not huge fans of kids in romances, but I loved this bunch and they were well utilized here. Aside from all the truly humorous moments they created, the kids also added a lot of heart and tenderness to this tale.

April’s friends were incredible as well. When you find yourself with neighbors such as April’s, you should plan to live there forever. This was a quite a wonderful and interesting group of women. They were hilarious and also super supportive. I had faith that all their children would grow up to be productive members of society because they were lucky enough to be surrounded by such strong and loving women.

Gosh! I just loved this so much! I adored April and reveled in rooting for her to recover her mojo. The kids were adorable, the neighbors were hilarious, and Jack ❤️ .

Christina Hovland can’t write enough of these hilarious and entertaining stories to satisfy my need. Even reading the story more than once you are still laughing out loud at wonderful antics of the characters. April is one of the single mothers who is going through a hard time. Her divorce has devastated her and the children and she needs to get her mojo back. Jack is perpetually single and technically the her boss and the guy tasked with getting April back on track. There are countless tidbits to be discovered within pages such as the significance of the word “banana”. You will also want to discover why Kitty is dating Beast. Each book in this series is a delight for the senses with characters that are unforgettable and a wonderful happy ending. 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️

💭What I thought would happen:

I was expecting a female empowering protagonist who perhaps is a bit quirky and some clever quips throughout.

📖What actually happens:

April is a mother who has her life completely together, jokes! She does her best at family, work balance and never quite does it with finesse. She provides excellent insight on the fact that raising the tiny humans is very very difficult. The state of April is always apparently by the height and chaos of her top knot/messy bun.

When Jack purchases April's influencer brand, her life gets knocked upside down. April's problem is how can she possibly add one more distraction into her already messy life, will it be worth it?

🗯Thoughts:

I thought this was hilarious. While I do not understand what it is like to be a mother, especially a"calm" mother (ha!) I can definitely sympathize. What I can relate to is being an influencer and it's own pressures that come with the up keep of constantly making strangers like you and want to live your life online. April is a wonderful heroine who takes us through the day in the life of a mother, busy, hectic and pulls at ones ability for time management!

I absolutely adored April and Jack's chemistry, yes please! Serve that up to be on a platter and I will never grow hungry. I would definitely recommend this titillating read for absolutely anyone if you just want something easy and breezy and perhaps a little steamy!

April May Fall was an enjoyable read. She's a newly single mom who is trying to keep it all together- and be a successful influencer at the same time. Of course life happens and a viral live video of her being not so calm happens. But it brings Jack into the picture. He helps April find herself again after being left in pieces by her cheating ex-husband.

I really enjoyed the book. I appreciate that the author gave April a chance to prove to herself that she doesn't need someone else to get through life, but that it doesn't hurt either. When she gets ambushed on her big event I could feel the wrath she was feeling. It's sad that that kind of ambush is all too real, and women just love to beat other women down. It was great to see April take a stand against a bully. The whole frog/kid thing definitely through me off and all I could think was that poor kiddo needed some serious therapy- I'm glad he seemed to get it worked out with Jack but as a nurse think it was fixed a little too easily.
Overall I once again enjoyed this authors book. 4/5 stars. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for gifting me this free copy in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

April May Fall gives a real look at the complications, the feelings, the love, the general craziness that goes into being a mom and trying to find not only who you are but also trying to find some time to decompress! I enjoyed the characters. The kids and dog were adorable and added some lighthearted sweetness. Definitely a fun read. Thanks to netgalley and Entangled publishing for the ARC.

So good! I loved it. April May Fall is another great read by Christina Hovland. This romantic comedy is funny and sweet with some steam. April is 100% believable as the harried single mom trying to rebuild her life after divorce and so is Jack, the fixer who arrives to save the day after her live feed of a shopping trip goes off the rails. April and Jack have chemistry in spades. April's friends and her children add to the allover craziness in this entertaining, heartwarming romance and make for an awesome supporting cast. Can't wait for the next story.
